 We all know the story of Lord Voldemort and the battle of Hogwarts. Though now, 25 years later, it is no more than a goodnight story to scare the kids with. Of course, they all know it’s true, they have all heard the scary stories from their parents a million times, but they were always told that nothing like that would ever happen again and they would always be safe from such tragedies.
Wrong. Lately a series of mass murders have been committed, always only on muggles, muggleborns or half-bloods. Just as the wizarding world was starting to forget the fear of the darkness, whispers of a new dark lord is rising through the masses. Slowly, witches and wizards realise it’s time for them to choose a side. Join the darkness in the search of complete power, or stand united on the side of the light. |

In the event that Ren’s mother had to ever find out that both he and his father were wizards, the two had to completely erase her memory of the event. The first event happened only a week after Ren’s birth. His father had to erase his mother’s memory and restrain Ren’s powers until he was old enough to understand his magical background. This has occurred eight times in Ren’s lifetime, which has resulted in a little distrust within the family. Ren dislikes having to keep a secret from his mother, and dislikes his father for being so secretive. Every time his mother’s memory is erased, Ren hates his father a little more each time. He never understood why his mother ever fell for and married such a man as his father, or why his father ever chose a muggle to marry.
His distaste for his father also spawned from the pressure he received in his first year of Hogwarts. Because Ren was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin like his father, Ren was forced to work extra hard on his abilities. He was never good in his grades, which disappointed his father greatly. He joined Quidditch when he could apply, loving the sport as a young lad. His father approved of it after Ren was honored captain.
Ren, however, is rather hesitant in telling his father about his love for writing.

Despite first impressions of him as a quiet, misunderstood boy, Ren deems the opposite. He is a coy and cunning person, whose character attracts single-minded characters. Many tend to flock to his sporty and well-rounded personality. His appearance is friendly and bright, though tinted with sarcasm and manipulation. His ability to lead others and influence others with his opinions is what sorted him into Gryffindor. To the disbelief of others, he is indifferent and rather unenthusiastic about a lot of things he doesn’t care about. He feigns popularity, but the insides of him are complicated and in turmoil as he tries to understand and balance who he is.
However, he is determined and stubborn in things he does like. He loves Quidditch, because it allows him to make his own decisions. Each game is new and fast-paced. He is decent in his academic skills, but proves to be in the latter half of the bell curve. He tends to be a bit more influential and aggressive in his social skills and magical abilities, swift and agile in this mindset. Ren’s love for writing is a little known fact about him, and not many know for his kindred passion for it.
He is insensitive of others feelings, and somewhat insensitive of his own. He is not good with emotions or how to deal with them, which leads to some pretty stupid decisions and actions. He has tons of regrets and hates himself for submitting his authoritative father. He is not the smartest in the pack, even though he often times leads it. He rarely thinks about the consequences of his actions or how it effects others, making him thick headed.

[Nights of intoxicated passion can lead to many things, sometime these things are happily received, sometimes these things are purged and forgotten… but sometimes these things bring with it a series of unfortunate events that bring with it a possible lifetime of misery and madness. Rune was the unfortunate result of a tryst that would forever mark her as a hunted by her father pure blooded brethren. Rune was born on the Night of Halloween as her mother was fleeing to escape the clutches of the Darkling Fae that hunted her. Long ago, the woman had made a pact with the eldritch creatures in exchange for some sort of deed. It is rumoured that this was her first born child which was why she had become so desperate to keep them away from her that she ended up sacrificing her life to keep her daughter safe.
It should be noted that the Darkling Fae are the wicked and nasty cousins of the ‘Good fellow’ fairies that are told in the stories of the brothers grim. Though they mostly lost their interest with humans when belief in them died out they still came in to terrorize the mortals from time to time. The Darkling fae have rules that only they seem to understand, and long ago they were banished from the light by their cousins for a crime against their kindred. Runes mother took advantage of this and used every trick that she knew in order to keep her daughter out of the clutches of the Darklings until she was able to find her daughter a place where the fae wouldn’t be able to reach her. It was during the winter’s eve that the fae had caught up with her, desperate to make sure that the fae could never get her daughter she gave her a cold iron charm that she had worn to protect herself from vicious creatures for years. Angered by the betrayal, the fae dragged Rune’s mother screaming into the Faerie realm never to be seen again… at least with some level of sanity, the Faerie is a notorious place where mortals are forbidden to enter and for good reason. The senses of the humans are no match for fae and their magics, it has been recorded in human history many times about people being dragged into the fae, to be sacrificed as a Tithe to Hell, or to lose their sanity to the music of the fae, dancing till their muscles tear and their bones break… the list of their cruelty and wicked deeds to the mortals goes on.
Rune perhaps would have died in the snow, if it wasn’t for a kindly older couple who lived in the woods away from most of the civilization. The happened upon the crying, half frozen infant and quickly took her in to tend to her and bring her back into the land of the living. Though there was no magic between this couple, they were a superstitious pair, and knew of what may have been after the girl when they saw the cold iron charm around her neck. They did everything that they knew of to ward off the Darklings, and it worked. Though the family would constantly wake up to hear the sounds of scratching on their cabin walls and when light came, it would reveal that the house was coved in the claw marks of the Darklings, desperately trying to get back what was once promised to them by foolish naiveté.
It is unknown why the Darklings are so interested in Rune, though she is the first and perhaps only child that is alive that was born of Darkling heritage. Most other pairings between the races of human and fae would result either in still born babes or mewling abominations that were better off dead. But Rune somehow managed to keep her human form, though her violet eyes gave away her heritage somewhat. It is assumed that, because the Fae are more raw passions and emotions given form, they don’t have souls, and the fascination with the human soul has what has led them to numerous acts of kidnapping children in the past, as if they thought they could study it somehow and understand how it ticks. The Professors at the school of wizardry and witchcraft have speculated that they are interested to see if Rune actually has a soul of her own, or if she is more an intelligence like they are. With such a curious thing that half belonged to them, it is of little wonder that the Fae are so interested in her.
The couple, though with good intentions in rescuing Rune, couldn’t keep the young girl as they had no money for her education, so they sent her off with relatives who lived in the city. Rune was always a bit of mischievous and actually had trouble fitting in with the other students. She wasn’t a problem child, but her parents were one of those kind of parent that oppressed her till she was just like everyone else. She shut down after a while, and after a while just started to be what everyone else wanted her to be. This might have actually saved her life, as the Darklings seemed to have totally given up on finding her, or perhaps they just had troubles picking up on her Fae nature now that it was oppressed and had no idea where to find her. Rune sometimes found it hard to relate to the other children, she was a little bit slower to mature that they. She had glamour about that would both attract and revile everyone in equal measure, making her friends few and far between. When she became thirteen, however, things were once more turned on her head when she started to display her magical potential for the first time. Fully drawing the attention of the Fae once more and all but bringing them to her doorstep.
The Wizarding council wasted no time in inviting the young witch to the school where they could protect her, the Wizards and Darklings had a tense and rather volatile truce with each other, and once she displayed the magic potential the Wizards saw her as being under their jurisdiction. They had lost her mother because of the Fae, and they couldn’t stop that, they refused to lose another witch so soon to the Darklings. As such, they were quick to swoop in and snatch the young girl up for their own, further foiling the Fae’s schemes.
Having been brought up as a muggle, Rune was very ignorant when it came to the world of magic and finds that she has been thrown into a world that she may not be fully ready for. ]
┃⌘┃Personality

[Runes ego is an important part of her that it can cripple her. She is so afraid of making a mistake and looking foolish that she can hesitate and refuse to act unless she is sure she can do it perfectly. Her shyness and awkwardness are heartbreaking and she is a bit of a preverbal Ugly duckling. Someday, she blossom into a stunning swan but as of now she’s too afraid of messing up and being made to look foolish. There is nothing worse to her than being laughed at.
If anything could be said for Rune, it’s that she has an inner strength of fortitude to see that she can eventually figure thing out and do them right (though some people would consider this outright stubbornness). Rune is a naturally curious being that dances to the beat of her own drum, though it may not be apparent as she has learned to protect herself with her shell. Admittedly, Rune doesn’t care much for rules, but she has gotten in enough trouble that she’s learned to obey them, which kind of conflicts with her natural nature. Her Fae blood can make her rather chaotic and unpredictable at times and she often reacts impulsively rather than with any sort of forethought.
Rune, at her core, can be a wrathful creature. She carries with her a vengeful streak ten miles wide, when angered she can become just as malicious as her Fae father. The person who has the attention of the girl’s wrath is in for a load of malicious pranks and get some rather unwanted attention from some jinxes and, if they are really unlucky, Fae based Hexes.]

◆ dislikes; [Rune dislikes being the center of attention, doubly so if the attention is negative, she hates being told ‘no’ especially when she is in a pursuit of something that catches her interest, even if it is for a fickly short time. Rune hates flying and gets motion sickness when she’s in the air. Finally, Rune is really uncomfortable opening up about herself as it makes her feel vulnerable, those whom she does this with should feel extraordinarily privileged. ]

◆ mirror of erised; [Deep down, Rune wants to embrace who she is, even if she doesn’t understand what she is, thought this may mean that she could embrace that wicked aspect of herself that could lead down the path to the Fae where she could very well be the only known person to adapt and become one with them. Granted, this could also mean that she would be comfortable within her own skin and learn to act as herself more naturally again.]
◆ strengths; [Thanks to the Fae magic running through her veins, Rune has a much easier time with the dark arts. Her dark arts are very potent, though at this time, also very hard to control as the power that runs through her blood is very hard to handle, even for experienced Wizards and Witches.
Enchantment spells are also something that she finds fairly easy to preform and this is because of her fae heritage as well, though it is worth noting that Runes mother may very well have been strong in with her Enchantment spells as a witch who focused on them.
Rune can use her Fae magic without her wand, the magic is far more powerful when not used in conjunction with the wand however, the raw use of Fae magic brings the Darklings towards her more quickly. They want her to use the magic, when enough magic is used from the Faerie the Darklings can break through into the world again to act as they please for a short period of time… a time that would be more than long enough to drag her screaming into the Faerie like her mother before her…]
◆ weaknesses; [Runes volatile temper is something that she needs to overcome if she is to truly master her bloodline and her magic. Perhaps it is why the Holly wood came to her aid as it sensed the rage and frustration from the young girl, during these moments she doesn’t think of what may be hunting her and she can become tunnelled vision on her tormentor till she gets her vengeance. However, with each jinx, hex and curse she cast, she draws the attention of the Darkling Fae that seek to come and drag her into the Faerie where she will likely not survive.
Anti-jinx spells give her more than a headache, because of the nature of her magic, anything that nullifies her natural abilities or weakens her major strength obviously cripples her ability to do anything well, which can cause her anxiety.
Rune is fairly aloof: she doesn’t like to be the center of attention because she’s worried about screwing up in front of so many people. She tries to avoid crowds whenever possible and often stays out of the spot light. She is much more comfortable with being behind the scenes and working hard and unnoticed.]

Layton wasn’t the kind of boy that was handed everything to him. No, he had to actually work for the things he wanted. Despite coming from a wealthy pureblood family, Layton’s parents were cut off from their family’s money. It all happened around his twelfth birthday. The blond was kept in the dark about the reasons why his grandparents disowned them, but he had an idea. He had an inkling that it was because of his parent’s knew found obsession or ‘work’, as they liked to call it. And ever since he was thirteen, Layton has had to help support them. Life was difficult, but he adapted fairly quickly. The blond's mother and father are both highly secretive people, who love to practice dark magic. They rarely give their sons the time of day, because they’re to caught up in their own work to care. Layton has always been bitter towards his parents for being so negligible. It makes him angry to sit and watch them leave for weeks on end, just to come home and give them but a simple glance. It was wrong, he knew that, but Layton could’t figure out what it was that they were doing. Their supposed jobs hardly paid a thing, and they seemed to think it was worth putting their family through hell. Despite all of his struggles, not many know about his past, because it’s not a subject he likes to tell. His best friend knows most of the story, but Layton likes to keep somethings to himself. There was only one girl that he told his secrets to and she just happened to be another Ravenclaw. You see, she made him feel as though she cared, but in reality she was just toying with him. Layton had made the awful mistake of trusting her and putting his heart on the line. Unfortunately when he finally got the courage to tell her how he felt she laughed in his face; saying that she’d never get with someone so screwed up in the head. To say he was crushed wouldn’t have been the right word. He was heartbroken. Ever since that day, Layton has sworn off any kind of emotional pull towards anyone. He doesn’t want history to repeat itself, nor does he want to be fooled again.

About Layton: You could say he’s secretive, not liking to open up to people or share his feelings. He’d rather avoid that all together, it’s why him and his best mate are such good friends. They don’t discuss those useless things. Layton however doesn’t care about love. The word just annoys him to be perfectly honest. Ever since his first love broke his heart, the boy has pushed every girl away. No matter what his body tells him, he uses his head and ignores the all urges he might feel. The only people he really talks to are Ravenclaws, with a few Slytherins along. He can be described as being arrogant at times, but also funny and easy going. The blond isn’t afraid to talk his mind, but knows when he should keep his mouth shut. To top it all off, he has a bit of a dark sense of a humor that not many can understand.

Unlike many of her peers, Morticia did not come from a magical background. Her parents would certainly like to think so, but if anything they're just very enthusiastic fans of Hollywood's image of the occult. Fans who happen to have impeccable taste in overly dramatic black garnments and angry plastic skulls. All her childhood she was surrounded by what she thought was magic, what she thought it meant to be unusual. Then came her eleventh birthday, when some stranger came to her door to invite her to attend Hogwarts - to explain about the secret world of wizards and all that. Apparently, she was some sort of witch and needed some schooling in order to best control her powers. Before she knew it she was abandoning everything she thought she knew of the world, drinking in every last bit of knowledge and lore that she could from her lessons and many personal 'experiments'.
Her first year at Hogwarts might have been spent friendless and filled with trouble due to her boundless curiousity and the trouble it often wrought, but that didn't discourage her. She learned a lot that year, both about herself and her surroundings. Her love and enthusiasm for learning and the unknown never waned, although she has calmed a considerable bit since that year - and has traded old unusual habits for new ones. Instead of pestering her fellow students about literally ever facet of wizarding culture, for example, she now underplays her intelligence and treats almost her every moment like one long social experiment.
Her calming down over the years, along with her naturally sweet demeanor, has endeared her to some of her class and housemates. Even moreso when it was discovered that she was perfectly willing to use her own personal time to help others with their more grueling or difficult subjects of study. It's a wonder to her how she managed to earn her modest popularity with her peers, but she's certainly not complaining.
It was perhaps due to her doing excellently with her studies and her willingness, if not outright eagerness, to help others with theirs that landed her the honor of becoming a prefect. It's an honor she's quite nervous about having recieved, but one she's glad to have nevertheless. One that she intends on taking seriously.

Morticia, to put it mildly, is something of an oddity in the Ravenclaw house. She isn't the socially inept recluse or the die hard study hog that many seem to expect, but is instead a very outgoing and charming individual. She always tries to see the best in people, offering playful sarcasm at worst and heartfelt compliments otherwise in return for any insults or rude gestures thrown her way. Despite her optimism and overall friendly behavior, she isn't a doormat and most certainly isn't dumb or naive. Mortie doesn't often show it, but she keeps a firm grasp on reality and never lets herself set hopes or expectations for people that she feels they're not likely to meet.
She also has a habit of downplaying her intelligence and exaggerating her playfulness around people she's not close to, making many wonder on first impression how the hell someone as "dumb" as her got into Ravenclaw in the first place. In truth, it's simply a well practiced ruse used to lull associates and potentially dangerous people into not taking her seriously - and allowing her to see how people react and treat her when they think they're smarter or more talented than she. That, and when her real wisedom and understanding of the human nature shines through on that rare occasion, it's always amusing to see people's reactions.
Once one gets to know her, one will find that Mortie really is largely smarter than she lets on. She has a natural talent of magic, aided extensively by her almost obsessive interest in it. She has plenty of unbridled curiousity, often badgering her proffessors with various questions and conducting magical experiments on her own free time. That, matched with her creative ways of thinking and love of discovery, can lead to either outstanding or unimaginably horrible results depending on her luck and the subject of study.
Another habit she has is that even to close friends, she still downplays her own talents and virtues in favor of extolling those of her immediate peers - although to a much lesser extent than she would around a bare acquaintance or stranger. Beyond just being a secret test of character, it is also a tool she uses to mask her own insecurities and doubts - mainly in regards to how she feels she doesn't "deserve" to be a student at Hogwarts and how she feels like someone as "ordinary" as her is just wasting everyone's time. Don't expect her to ever admit this, not even in her dying breath.

For starters, Isis is an only child. No older siblings picking on her and no younger ones for her to pick on. Even though her parents practically showered her with affection, Isis still longed for someone to play with. Especially when it came to the awfully dull parties thrown at home. Liam and Evangeline Burwell just didn't know how to throw a party, in her opinion at least. Often she escaped to the library at their home during those nights, curling up in an armchair and reading until dawn arrived. It was around the age of five that she found her love for reading books. Ones that were filled with history and other things she'd be learning at Hogwarts soon enough. Over the span of the next six years, all the books on the library shelves were read by the young witch. Every single last one of them. Her parents weren't really fond of her reading, however they were certainly proud..
By the time of her first year at Hogwarts began, Isis's mind was already filled with all the things she had read in the library. She was set to begin this new 'adventure'. As predicted, she was sorted into Slytherin, something she was both glad and upset about. She certainly thought for a second Ravenclaw was where she was going to be sent, seeing as the sorting hat acknowledged her intelligence [and spent nearly five whole minutes on debating between Ravenclaw and Slytherin]. However, it seems blood won. It was probably for the best, if she had been sorted into Ravenclaw her parents would have disinherit her. No joke.
As the years progressed, she made friends from her own house and Ravenclaw, which was a surprise at first when she still had a mind set that her house didn't mingle with other. Then again, she's a bit of the odd-one out in her house, even if she has friends there.

Isis can be quite brash and loud at times, but at other times quiet and mild mannered. She’s extremely quick witted and intelligent, sometimes to the point of coming off as narcissistic. She’ll correct people on their papers, the Raven in her not understanding why people disliked it. Knowledge is power, after all. However, she proves her Slytherin roots elsewhere; Isis goes about life at Hogwarts with her head tilted high. She’s the girl in charge and doesn’t let anyone forget that. She doesn't abuse her power as a prefect, unlike previous prefects, she has a better sense of justice and what is right/wrong than they ever did. If others respect her, she'll return the respect. But if someone crosses her... Well, lets just say they'll rue the day for the rest of their lives.

A member of the ministry of magic had come to the doorstep of the Fortuna family before Lenore was to born. There, Lenore’s family was informed of the magical world and that their child, currently in Lenore’s mother’s womb, had magical properties. They thought it’d be best to inform her parents, rather then having to keep Lenore's powers a secret. And so, Lenore was born to muggle parents who tried their best in raising her. They know enough of the basics to understand that their daughter was different and special, and treated her like any normal child. However, because they were only human, they could only do so much for her.
Lenore’s sorting was a bit controversial, especially because the Slytherin house consisted mostly of purebloods. And because she was sorted as a Slytherin, she was ostracized by many who still held the old-tradition mindset. Her parents, who did a little reading about the wizarding world, were slightly concerned about her housing, especially because of the past events that have taken place in recent years. Lenore, however, is rather proud to be a Slytherin. She loves their cunning, flexible nature against many of the other houses. Her parents coped with it, and try their best to be supportive of her.

Lenore is the quiet girl, though not to be mistaken for being bookish or timid. Initially, she may come off as a bit off-setting and taciturn. Many realize, after awhile, that Lenore just doesn’t say a lot, but when she does, she is surprisingly very opinionated. Her bluntness is almost as humorous as her socially awkward personality.
She is a fleeting character, and certainly not a very direct character. She is responsible enough to make definitive decisions. She often times takes positions most others would not like to take and almost willingly takes the blame for a lot of people's mistakes. This sort of makes her a doormat, but only in the sense that she is sensitive to others. Lenore, however, is not stupid or easily tricked, so she knows where it is to draw the line. Academically, she is a bit smarter than a lot, but not a Ravenclaw-minded genius nor as smart as the prefect of her house.
Lenore stays away from loud types, preferring to ignore them or give them the cold shoulder. Many describe her as creepy, or the black-sheep of the Slytherin house. Some Slytherins are especially cruel to her, despite their housing, mainly because of her blood-line.
She is not as threatening nor as ambitious and cunning as a lot of Slytherins are. However, she is just as shrewd and strong-willed. She is of a colder sort, and while not brash, Lenore is easily manipulative.
She is very sensitive when offended, and but often has to hide her emotions for the sake of not being bullied any further. She counters it with mean remarks and has long since learned how to fight against insults or offensive magic, making her excellent against countering practically anything.
