So yes , a bit more on this .
like whatever i wear my mom would make an opinion on it ,
whether its good or bad ,etc . i kind of get frustrated sometimes , because i dont
know whether im sticking to my own style or just giving in .

when i buy clothes as well , she would give her opinion on them
and if she doesnt like it , its very hard for me to buy them afterwards and i never have .

my aunts but me clothes as well , and they arent really my style
but of course i accept them but in the end i rarely wear / never at all .
how should i go about that ?

so in the end my wardrobe of clothes really isn't my wardrobe of clothes

* the money i use to buy clothes comes from my mom

what are your thoughts about this ?
do you have similar experiences ?

This is how I used to see it with my mom (who was a major control freak):

If you guys have a lot of interests in common, including fashion, then you should probably listen to her advice, she has more years experience than you and can help you not look like a clown or prostitute in your chosen style.

Now on the other hand, if you have almost nothing in common, like your mom is super old-fashioned conservative and despises things like anime and Star Trek but you love those things and like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga's styles, then you shouldn't listen to her at all or at least take the advice with a grain of salt because her opinion of whether or not you look good is influenced by her preferences and following her advice would push you into her style rather than embracing your own.

The money may be hers but until she actually says the words: "I am not buying that." then she's giving you unspoken permission to get what you regardless of her opinion.

Ha, I deal with this a lot with my older sister (she'll buy me clothes from time to time). See, I dress in the Gothic style sometimes, or casual, or whatever I want, really. And there are some stores *cough Hot Topic, Spencer's etc* that she refuses to go in with me (I still wind up getting my clothes, though). What can I say? She was a model at some point in her life, so she's very fashion forward, while I just wear whatever it is that I like. People are judgmental, so one has to learn to not give a ********. smile

My sister. She does allow me to choose what I want, generally, but every once I a while, she tells me to get something :/
I'm more everyday, like cotton. She's getting me silk, lace, dainty
And people say that I should be a model .__.

Yes... When I was using my mom's money, I would buy clothes that she likes and that I like... When I was depressed I kinda liked to wear dark clothes with skeletons Lol... However, I never did or buy because I felt my mom wouldn't like it.

It wasn't a big deal for me. At some point, I just didn't care of what I wore... I just put a pair of jeans, sneakers, and a shirt. I was just tired of studying and being stressed of my other problems...

Once, I got a job and could buy what I want with my money... I was so happy. I really like makeup and my mom didn't like to buy makeup for me. She complained one time that I shouldn't buy makeup.
I told her that it's my money so I have the right to buy what I want...

I usually go shopping with my grandma. Sometimes, she picks out things I like (usually some type of jacket or jeans), but other time it's like...
"What about this?"
Me: "Eeeehh, I can't see myself wearing that."
"Well, okay. Let's look some more."

So I guess it's pretty easy for me. smile

When I was in high school, my dad would have to approve of our clothes, it mostly was that's too tight, to low cut, etc. Generally making sure we did not look unclassy or trashy when we went to school. At the time it was annoying, but not that I am older I am glad he did that. Happy for me though, he did not judge on style, if I wanted something more "punkish" or whatever that was fine as long as it was too much or too small/slutty/etc. My twin was more preppy and girly than me (not preppy really), so she was allow to choose that style as long as it was classy.
