A thought occurred to me: Fantina is known to speak with a French accent, often including French idioms in her dialogue.
Just like Prof. Sycamore. And then there are all the French city and route names. And let's not forget that the Kalos region was geographically heavily inspired by France, and the focus of these games is/was beauty (more or less). From my understanding, Pokemon Contests (and Super Contests) served to display a Pokemon's talent (be it Coolness, Beauty, Cuteness, Smartness, or Toughness). ...It just makes me wonder...
I could have a few facts wrong.

She'd have to be. Could always be a fraud, though. Like Fantomex from Marvel Comics - just speaking Frenchly because he likes it.

Spinne Biss She'd have to be. Could always be a fraud, though. Like Fantomex from Marvel Comics - just speaking Frenchly because he likes it. Well, I did 'research'. It turns out that, in the Japanese version (and perhaps the Italian version), she speaks English and not French.

Would that make her from Unova originally?

I think it's unlikely that GameFreak had a home region in mind for Fantina when they created her. If it ever gets brought up, it'll probably be retconned that she was from Kalos 3nodding
Does anyone know what language the gratuitous French segments of X and Y were written in for the Japanese and French versions of the games?
