๑• -- Three Years [SOLO!]

It was closing in on their third year of being together, just another month now. Zaire looked around the room he shared with Jory, the others belongings spread around the room. They looked more natural here than Zaire's own possessions. A soft smile slid to lips as fingers brushed the spine of one of Jory's favorite books.
Three years.
Zaire was honestly surprised at himself, this was a first. Normally the monster would get an itch, would leave. But when he had tried it always failed. When he had actually done something, well, he had ended up breaking his own heart in the process. A feeling that would never be forgotten.
Taking a seat at the desk a hand pushed some of the trinkets Jory had laid around away. Giving himself a work space as he glanced to the clock. Jory would be out for awhile longer yet, he was focusing on studies right now. Zaire was trying to be good about demanding attention but really it was Jory's fault for spoiling him..
No. It was his own fault for being so attached. It was just hard to admit even now.
Zaire grinned lazily and began to unpack a bag next to him. Soon the desk was covered in yarn, leather strips, and other various materials. The monster had wanted to do something special for his boilfriend when their anniversary came up on the 31th. So he had asked around, gotten a few ideas from some of the older monsters in town and landed on a leather piece. Of course it took some time before he was able to craft anything decent and that was when he was alone.
But he had been trying, checked out books, went to the towns leather shop and even taken a janitor job there. It was a cover mostly, but the money was good and he was being taught some useful skills. Jory knew about the job but he didn't know that Zaire was also getting to work with the scraps of leather after hours when he was suppose to be doing overtime.
Zare looked down at his hunter scared hands and sighed, he wasn't nearly as crafty as his boilfriend which made him nervous. What if Jory thought it looked like s**t? What if he didn't want to wear it because it was embarrassing? A hand went up to touch the necklace Jory made him, knowing his piece would never look as good. But he was going to try...and if Jory hated it, well he'd find something else.
The leather cuff bracelet was started, slowly the materials bent into the shape that was so familiar. The shape of Jory's soft wrist, his fingers stroked the material as he remembered. Working it to the perfect size before trimming the leather down. When the size was right Zaire moved on, getting up from the desk and heading to the closet. There was something he needed, something to make it perfect.
The clothes inside were pushed out of the way until a shirt came into view, a shirt that happened to be one of Jory's favorites. It belonged to Zaire of course, but Jory usually insisted that Zaire put it on when they went somewhere nice. As it was Zaire never buttoned the top button, so that was perfect. Fingers ran the material and up to the button, both sides of the button were grasped. It took a moment but he was able to pull the button off without damaging the shirt, honestly no one would probably notice it was even gone.
Button now in hand he went back to the desk, sitting and pressing a tool into the leather to work out a spade to place the button. It would make a very nice addition and Zaire would know it was special. It felt silly the more he thought about it, the more he thought about it the redder his cheeks got and the more he second guessed the idea. Was it corny? Jack it was.
Frustrated he put the materials down and leaned back in the chair, eyes on the ceiling. Come to think of it a lot of the things he did were super corny. But...Jory must like them right? He had stayed this long? Zaire glanced to the place on the bed that Jory usual was, feeling that pull of missing the other boil again. "Why does studying take so long...do you even miss me?" Zaire grouched into the empty room and as soon as he did he couldn't believe himself.
A hand went up and covered mouth, s**t, he was pretty damn love sick wasn't he? This was bad...
Zaire tried to clear his head and went back to the job before him, settling on just making it and if later he hated it. Well Jory never even had to know he had made something.
