It was at the beginning that creatures of dark roamed the Earth, willingly moving between their dimension and ours. Humans were often troubled by not just the wilds of the nature, but the demons that they were commonly called. Some few humans learned over time how the demons worked, how they used the hidden essence of Mana. They were capable of surviving and hiding until their saviors came.
Creatures of the light, strange as that of the dark, but naturally opposed to those demons. They brought forth knowledge for those of the Earth, and to pass it on to their generations. The humans learned and thrived on Mana to create and wield spells. They were able to grow and prosper even.
Time flew by, magic grew in many aspects for various uses though mostly for power. In this modern day technology has found its place in the world, but magic is far from dead. A few academies in the world still stand to take on aspiring mages.
Three prestigious families of magic stand in this world(and branches), having a place in this world in its history of infamous mages.
❦Carnelian
The founder of the Academy, a man who strives to gather and army of mages to help fend back these demons. Some wondered if it was a branch family of the Asteran due to their similar goals in power in the past, increasing the number of mages in hopes to make an army and a new era of advanced humans. These are the founders of the Academy about the world, though there are only five in total.
❦Pyrope
The first member of this family that is also said to of crossed paths with the heroes of light became inspired to fight for the people. Seeing others didn't seem able to use magic as he could, or other mages, he wanted to help them defend themselves. In this modern day the Pyrope Industries produce mass products of small talismans and spells for many small tasks that any regular human could use. Spells to help with a simple chore around the house to home security. Pyrope does well and helps fund the Academy and Deleo Corp.
❦Asteran
A legend goes within this family that the first man who saw the heroes of light became obsessed with them. Their knowledge, their power, their surreal aura and above all what they could do for mankind. Some believed he wanted to be what they were, more powerful and to save those in need. Others believed he wanted to abuse their power and wonder the secrets and true intents of them. They're a peaceful, noble family today that lead the main agency in exorcisms, Deleo Corp.
Almandine Academy
An Academy far out into the forest, secluded with its own town for its students to lead an average life without having the world beyond to disturb them whilst they study and train. These are the students that become the next soldier in defense against the demons that continue to fight their way through to the human world.
"It's been ten years since a terrible outbreak of demons plaguing in the area, including the Academy. We've recovered a third of what was damaged, but I fear it'll never be the same"
❦There are many things it is said that the school will prepare their students for. Every first year will be placed into a group, depending on the students skill and desired way of projecting their magic. Students will be placed into teams of three. One to focus on defense, the other offense, and the third a utility to the teams fit.
❦ Magic isn't a science. It can vary from each individual person from illusions, elements, summoning of familiars, curses, seals, enchantments and the list of possibilities go on. One common thing that all mages share is the requirement of mana and spirit energy.
❦ Spirit energy is used to filter the mana in the area. Mana is very thin in the human world. There are some structures like old stone runes and leaked mana from ripples of old portals. Mana is abundant in the demon realm. The more Mana, the more fuel to perform magic (and less effort to get a hold of it). Not every human has the spirit energy to perform magic.
❦ Demons have and can only ever enter the human world through a portal. It takes magic to create these portals. When a portal is open the Mana flows through. Demons have no specific species, shape or form. They utterly have no sense of creation and often take most their forms, ideas, and abilities from other worlds. There are three categories of demons. Lesser demons, demon familiars, and Demon Lords.
❦ Demons cannot strive long without Mana, it is almost as important as the air that we breathe. Mana is their strength and the more there is the stronger they become. When they come to our world they are about half strength compared to what they could be in their world.
❦ We are here to repel and purify demons from this world. To do this the portal must be closed. Demons rarely can die, but can be injured severely and thrown back into the portal. Closing the portal will quickly vacuum them back to their world. A portal is held open by an item or a creature, destroying it will close the portal.
