The sight of the blood, that long and angry wound, was almost startling. Nergui's eyes widened as she watched the slow trail of red that rolled down his chest and stomach. She wasn't horrified by what she had done, nor really sorry for it. The only kernel of regret that nagged her was the knowledge that such a vicious blow had been dealt to an ally, a member of her clan. It was enough to keep her from simply charging after him and taking advantage. This was a spar. A serious one, but still.

Straightening, the mare brought that dark blade up before her as she sank into a ready stance, her free hand up to touch fingers to the back of her sword, steadying it. "Thank you, high praise from a soldier." It was a generous compliment, and she would take it as such.

Now she took the time to look at him, to really see him. The scared exterior. Dark hair and lean muscles. And those eyes; coal lined, but crimson. They reminded her of another.

"You have lovely eyes." It was an odd thing to say in the middle of a spar, but then the mare was not exactly the picture of mental balance at the moment. Poor Wrath, he had happened upon the priestess at her worst, and all that pent up aggression had finally been allowed an outlet.

Snapping forward, the priestess rolled her wrist, arm coming down in a quick arc that lay a shallow slash across the back of Warth's hand. Not a serious wound, more an annoyance than anything else. "Do you wish to stop, or shall we carry on?"

He caught the widening of her eyes, but shrugged it off, assuming that she might just have been surprised that he was not putting up as much of a fight as she was. It was a little jarring for him, honestly, an eye opener that his skills had indeed fallen rusty, and that he definitely needed to work on improving them once more. She was faster then him, and skilled with her weapon, and there was no shame in the fact that he was obviously losing.

Red dripped down tanned skin, inked black in places, and stained fabric, but he paid it no mind. The pain was more refreshing then it was anything to put him off continuing, and he nodded at her response to his comment.

But then she told him he had lovely eyes. Now that was something to take him aback, more unexpected then how well she handled her weapon. Surprised, and unsure how to respond except to say "Thank you..." In his low and rumbling tone, he was not prepared for when she attacked again, aiming for and striking the back of his hand, which was nearly enough to make him drop his weapon as he let out a sharp hiss, letting it desummon as he shook it out and took a step back.

"No." He answered her question.

But he didn't summon his weapon back.

"I would like to see more."

A pointed look followed his confirmation that he would like to continue, but she would take him at his word. With a nod she moved forward again, sweeping low with the point of her blade to slice a clean line across one muscled thigh.

Frowning, she gave the much taller stallion a thoughtful look, mismatched eyes narrowing. "You wouldn't be holding back because I am mare, would you?" Or dainty. It didn't seem as though he would be the sort, but then again, he was over a foot taller than her, and a trained soldier.

He was watching her movements closely, as though entranced by the fluidity of her grace. It had been a long time since he'd faced an opponent who was on equal ground to him, though in this case it was clear that he was out of his depth.

Her question surprised him, and his eyes widened slightly. "Of course not, priestess. I take pride in my battle skills and would never think to curb them. Though I suppose if an excuse for my normally fine tuned tactics having taken a dive in quality is necessary....it is simply that I have not met much challenge against the humans, and my training therefore has been lacking." He hoped that explained his situation sufficiently.

Taking another hit, this time to his thigh, he summoned his weapon again, gripping it in a hand that dripped blood to the ground. He needed to do something other then bumble around like an overgrown fool, so he began to focus his Fear as well, the blade in his hand suddenly becoming shrouded in tendrils of inky black shadow. Reaching for the hilt with his second hand, he seemed to pull at the tendrils, which suddenly began to coalesce and form a dark blade, identical, save for color alone, to the one one in his opposite hand.

The motions were quick, and his actions quicker still as he slashed at her with first one, and then the other.

With a puff of black tendrils of smoke, the second sword then disappeared once more.

Lips pursed, eyes narrowing a touch more, before features smoothed entirely and she was back to that near calm she'd worn throughout the majority of their exchange. "That is an acceptable answer." Had he indeed been going light on her, she'd have simply ended their spar. Her pride would not accept that sort of a win. It wasn't really winning at all.

His weapon reformed in his hand, and Nergui readied herself for his attack, though eyes did widen a touch at the tendrils that flowed from his blade before a second sword was formed of that darkness.

Long legs gave him an easy speed, and he charged forward with his twin blades, slashing at her, first one, then the other. She felt the kiss of steal against one shoulder, the bicep of her opposite arm, then she was moving away, out of his reach.

"That was a neat trick," she mused conversationally, a smile touching her lips as she slid one bare foot along the ground for balance. "Would you like to see another?"

She didn't wait for an answer, but instead moved like liquid grace; lunging, not for the stallion himself, but for the long stretch of his shadow stretching along the ground. This she struck, over and over, and where her blade hit on that dark silhouette, pain would blossom on his body. Over and over she hit, for times in all, before slipping back and out of immediate reach.

She didn't need to ask him if he wanted to see it, not really. The look of excitement in his eyes was more then answer enough. He appreciated that this priestess knew how to fight, even if it meant that he himself had fallen quite stale over the years. He appreciated that she didn't back down, and that meant that neither would he. He appreciated that she would take his hardest attack with grace, and in return would offer to use her Fear to attack him in return, tit for tat.

With a grin that was turning to something quite savage though still in the camaraderie like sense, he readied himself for whatever was to come, surprised when she did not dart at him with her blade but instead at his shadow.

Pinpoints of pain developed in various areas on his body, a sharp sting followed by the warmth of fresh blood. His shield was low, battered by this small mare, near exhaustion, perhaps soon to fall, but when she darted away he was quick to follow, his movements fast for one of his size as he darted forward and fell to his knee's, sliding towards her to close the distance and swinging low with a flicker or his blade towards her ankle, hoping to trip her up.

The stallion dropped to his knees, and for a fleeting second she thought that was it, but he lashed out, slashing at her ankle and drawing a hissed wince from the mare as she jerked away from him.

Turning, she gave him hard, measuring look. He looked tired, he was bleeding, but he was relentless. She appreciated that in a fighter, it was a valuable trait.

If he wanted to keep going, then she would respect that. Her blade came up, and she swung it around in a low arch, but was rewarded with only the sound of metal on metal as he managed to get his own weapon up to block.

Like hell he was going to give up. When she jerked away and leveled her gaze on him, he gave her a tooth filled grin and a narrow eyed look in return. Did she honestly expect him to forfeit as long as he could still get to his feet? When she brought her blade back down upon him, he lifted his own to deflect it with relative ease, and then he was moving again, to his feet but still crouched, dropping down and sweeping out at her with one metal tipped boot, aiming to take her higher up in the calf this time and closer to her knee.

One way or another, he was determined to knock her off of her feet.

"Relentless," she hissed softly, but it was the highest of compliments.

Another blow to the leg resulted it a quick jerk that ended in a kick to the stallion's hand, not as hard as she had hoped, but it was something. "Back on your feet, soldier."

Humans were meant to die in teh dirt on their knees, but Wrath was a stallion of Death, and there was no honor in beating him while he was already down.

The kick to his hand was nothing compared to some of the attacks she had graced him with earlier, and while unsuccessful in his attempts to knock her down, he couldn't help but smirk at her words.

"As you command, Priestess." He was back on his feet in an instant, in swift and fluid movements that were almost graceful, perhaps surprising considering the beating he had been taken before this point. With his sword still desummoned he lunged towards her, now attacking with the metal claws that adorned his fingers and thumb, using them to swipe at her, as relentlessly as she so labeled him.

He rose up, towering over her again. The prompt obedience, as well as the remark, both had her smile growing, and pearly whites flashed in the dark of delicate features before he was on the offensive again.

Claws slashed at her, cutting through thin clothing and the splitting soft skin beneath to spill blood in crimson lines over the curve of her breast and lower, socking into the top of her dress. It hurt, and her breath sucked in high and pained as she recoiled, only to turn and bring her elbow up into his chin as he lunged again. A temporary bid for time.

Her elbow met it's mark, rapping smartly against his chin, his teeth clicking together, luckily not biting down on his tongue though the risk had certainly been high. It had hurt, and he backed off a step or two, the back of his hand lifted to his chin, before it turned over and a thumb and finger clutched at either side of his jaw, moving it back and forth to make sure it hadn't been knocked out of place (it sort of felt like it might have been).

This only took a moment. She was bleeding, and so was he, and he couldn't help but feel that perhaps both of them were near the breaking point of their shield. She had put in a good fight, better then he had expected, but he had fought back, and now they'd reached a pinnacle in their friendly battle against one another, where either could go down first.

Curved bladed sword back in hand, he took a step forward and slashed through the air, a horizontal strike.
