She was back at it again, burying her fists into supple dummy flesh. She wanted to fight something real, that could react at least.

Oh hey, freshmeat. "Hey, you there. Wanna spar?"

Lock looked at Gene with a glazed over expression. He'd just been passing by the gym on his way to class, but now there was some ghost girl asking him to fight.

"That hardly seems fair." Voodoo was still poised to fight. He gave her a disappointed look.

"Awww... aren't you cute?" Gene purred, reaching out to pet the cat familiar. "Unlife isn't the most fair of things, sweetie. I'm just prepping you for a future at Amityville."

She was also prepping herself for an entire future of fighting off Legacies, Hunters, and whatever the hell else Jack thought funny to throw their way.

"But since you're the younger, I'll let you go first. Youth before beauty, or something like that."

The black cat which Gene had reached out to pet promptly bit down on her hand.

"I never said you could pet her," he said irritably, "So it's not my fault what she does." Lock lazily blinked and adjusted his tunic. "Though a word of advice- she doesn't prefer being spoken to in such a condescending tone."

Lock then began to walk away, because this fight was a pointless fight and not worth his time. It was clearly just an older student trying to goad him into an embarrassing defeat- even Lock could smell that plan. "Come along, Voodoo."

"Hey!" Gene yelped, kicking the cat without thinking. She usually loved familiars, and the usually loved her back, but such was not the case today. Plus, this little Snot was giving her attitude? Not happening.

"Oh, come on kid. I'm just wanting to train, help a fellow student out!"

Said the ghoul who'd just kicked his familiar.

Voodoo trotted along behind Lock with her nose upturned in a huffy, ladylike fashion.

"Did you even consider this snot might not require your assistance?" He shook his head. "Incredibly rude of you, really."

The ghoul huffed. This was obviously going nowhere.

Picking up a small pebble, she chucked it at Lock's head. "Just one spar, that's all I want from you." She placed her hands on her hips, sighing with a deep frown. Maybe she should be a bit nicer about it but adrenaline tended to block out her better judgement.

She'd also had ten shots of espresso that morning, thanks to purchasing a new machine.

Lock turned and nodded silently his approval to Gene.

Voodoo seemed equally excited to fight- possibly more so than Lock. The young reaper created a few shadowy blobs from the crowd, almost puppeteering them. He then waited for Gene to move.

Smirking, Gene nodded at the boil and his cat, and gave a quizzical look to his blobby things. That didn't hurt much at all, the cat's btie had been far worse.

Whatever. She charged forward with a drop kick, smiling upon connection. "Our safety word will be 'Booberry', if you feel I'm going to hard."

Lock said nothing, merely sending more shadows his opponent's way. He didn't need a safety word.

"Voodoo," he called, sending his little cat to create shadowy "pitfalls." Of course, they were incredibly obvious, but if he got lucky Gene would fall in one.

Gene felt slightly bad about punching him square in the jaw, just slightly. Maybe she should have eased up on him, given him a break. He was just a Snot, and she a nearly graduated Hob. Her power over his power was vast, and she wasn't quite sure that she was comfortable with doing this much damage to him.

"Hey, are you okay? If you need me to ease up at any point-"

Lock said nothing, especially not admitting that he needed her to stop. He grimaced, summoning a shadowy, writhing hand from the ground, clearly intent on grabbing Gene and then returning her to the start of the temple.

It apparently wasn't needed though, as Voodoo was clawing the everloving crap out of Gene's face. She was a ghost so it wasn't really having any lasting impact, but Lock certainly imagined that it couldn't have been pleasant to have a cat in your face.

Giving a small scream as her face was ripped up by the stupid pretty kitty, Gene took the offending beast by the scruff of her neck and tossed her to the floor. She wiped away at her features, scowling at the boil.

"You're lucky that's not permanent, punk!"

Lock noticed Voodoo was wheezing and his posture relaxed. He desummoned her, letting her ooze back into his own shadow.

"You beat up a snot. I hope you're proud of yourself," he said snidely. "Real stunning achievement."

And then he walked away. Dramatically.

Gene game a simple shrug, turning away as well. She hadn't meant to go Ramboo on him, but it happened. She'd send some sort of apology note with a gift certificate to Bloodbucks later.
