Really Jack? Heap big hunter should been able to put that cabbage into a pair of salads with that giant sword and all that smack talk. But no, he couldn't even hack off the grabby vines.

She gave the veggie a very hard punch and it finally stopped moving. A tap from the two of her shoe did not garner a reaction. "Looks dead. Grab your sample so we can get the hell out of here."

He kept his weapon out even with it dead (defeated?) and approached with caution. Not sparing Peyton a look, Jack let the zweihander rest on the ground as he knelt and collected what parts weren't too crushed by the Sun's energetic finish into a tube, sealing it and putting it away carefully.

"You are sadly mistaken if you believe only one sample is worth my time here," he said as he picked his weapon back up and moved along. Desummoning it would mean losing his charge, and after that little tussle Jack wasn't going to take chances--nor did he care if Peyton followed after, despite this being a partnered assignment. It was clear that the Haunted House worked by randomization and thus did not bother trying to calculate doors.

The one he walked into just happened to be the one he wanted. There was the little ghost. Cautiously, Jack approached.

There was a dramatic sigh as she watched him collecting his samples, and she even stooped to scoop up a bit of the dead plant for herself, tucking it into the her hip pack. "Of course." Had she really expected him to be satisfied with just the one? No, but that didn't mean she couldn't complain about it. Even if just a little.

Keeping Warrick handy, she kept on Jack's heels, having already learned that being separated could mean really being separated, and should something else attack she wasn't in the best position, shield wise.

When he slowed in the doorway of the next room she actually walked into his back before biting off a growled question as her eyes fell on the little ghost bobbing around in the room beyond them. Pressing her lips together she hung just past the door frame, weapons up and ready. On guard should that dainty specter prove to be something a lot worse than what it appeared.

Jack was, it should be said, ill-sized for sneaking and/or appearing non-threatening. Noticing him, the bobbing little blob's eye went huge and it trembled in terror. Opening its mouth it took in a huge breath of air and grew larger, inflating itself to twice, then three times its size.

Quote:
Boo Mob:
10HP
1 auto damage

To capture:
It's HP must be between 1-2 in order to stun the Boo.
If the HP drops to 0 it explodes into what seems like melted marshmallow all of the hunter and in its place are two more Boos, each at 10 HP, each doing 1 HP apiece (so now 2 auto damage from the both.)
Repeat as needed.
This will continue until all Boos are caught or the hunters pendant out.

Oh, good, the scavenging hadn't been dififcult enough. Now they had to deal with a boo balloon. A booloon perhaps? He cracked himself up.

"Don't ******** this up for me now, Creedy," Jack said as he gave the inflated thing a little swat. "I don't know how delicate ghosts are, but he's already skittish as it is." And he really wasn't in the mood for more surprises.

"Well maybe if you we're such a ******** unpleasant giant, you might not of scared it." a*****e.

Lavender eyes rolled, but she kept her attention on the puffed up ghost.

Delicate was not usually her thing. At least not where combat was concerned. A firm tap was giving to the bobbing specter, not even close to a punch, but it gave a whimpering cackle before...popping. "********."

There was a scowl all ready on her face for the snide bitchfest that was about to come from Jack, but before he could even open his mouth the bits of boo fluff that had been falling swelled, growing into two identical, puffed up and pissed, ghosts. "Well that wasn't entirely unexpected." Still, she sounded pissy.

He watched her smash the thing into a gooey pile and felt a muscle twitch in his neck. Was it really that hard to pull punches? Could he have a nice thing for once?

Jack grumbled a few curses just as the ghost peeled itself from the floor and split into two. "Focus on that one over there," he snapped at Peyton, turning to the closest boo to attack. At least they were . . . flexible, if not durable.

She didn't give him the satisfaction of her annoyance, she just moved to corner her own bobbing ghosty.

This one seemed a little more brave, or possibly reckless, because the second she got within range the thing shrieked out in a wild cackle before zooming right at her face, smacking into her. This, of course, was startling, and she reacted automatically, swinging a punch at the thing and sending it bouncing off the closest wall before dropping into a puddle of boo guts.

Mother ******** more boos rose from the remains, and Peyton's shoulders hunched up around her ears, waiting for the snide remark to come from the other side of the room.

Said snide remark came in the form of a loud, "What the ******** ********, Creedy!"

Enraged but unwilling to trust himself to take it out on the flimsy ghost before him, Jack whipped around and smacked one of the newer ones away as it tried to bowl him over. Grumbling dark curses to himself, he waited for the ghost to deflate back to its usual size before bottling it up.

He threw Peyton a glare. "Now isn't the time for your ******** Sun instincts to kick in."

She turned on him, ready to snap back, but bite her tongue as he scooped up a boo into a bottle. "You got your god damned ghost, so stop your ******** bitching."

There was a very large desire to bury her knuckles into something, but her options were woefully limited. The boos would just keep multiplying, and hitting Jack usually resulted in him hitting back.

There was a very, very soft sound in his head: the sound of the last straw breaking. Peyton had such great timing too, given that one ghost would be enough for him if it kept its fission ability. So for a moment, as they exited the room and left the two enlarged boos to wail over their captured friend (captured self?), it looked as though Jack had nothing more to say to her.

And then the runes on his weapon flashed. The zweihander came out of nowhere, swung as easily as if it were a short sword and with far more force, to knock Peyton against the wall. Jack wore no expression as he walked quite casually towards her, the odd lighting in the house almost seeming to make him taller and darker.

"I have two pieces of advice for you, Creedy." The tip of his weapon was pointed at her, just above the pendant, a silent discouragement to try and portal out just yet. "Would you like to hear them?"

Or, in this case, violence was necessary to trigger a violent reaction from the giant.

He was supposed to be her alley, meant she shouldn't have had to watch him like a hawk. Shouldn't have had to be careful about turning away from him with the intent to leave the room. Runes flashed, but the dainty Sun never saw them, only the blur of the blade in her peripheral before something slammed into her shield, shattering it, to throw her bodily against the wall.

She s**t, bouncing off the creaking wood in a boneless instance of daze, before dropping into a stunned heap with the sharp tip of a familiar blade pointed casually at her chest. She blinked at it, then up to Jack as delicate features shut down into a fine rage.

<Kill him!> Warrick howled it, seething, and it was his hunter that had to calm him, reminding him that she had no shield. One wrong move...

His voice grated on her nerves, and her lips peeled back in a vicious smile. Did she want to hear whatever bullshit he had to say? No, but it wasn't exactly like she had much of a choice here. "Do enlighten me." Somehow she managed to make the harmless words into the fiercest of threats.

Even a snarl meant nothing to him in this position. He gave Peyton a cool look. "One: Don't pick fights you can't win." As far as he was concerned, her attitude had sparked it and this was merely retaliation. "Two," Jack said as he pressed the end of his sword forward just a fraction, his eyes unblinking, "don't pick fights with me."

It would have been easy: just a few more swings and the Sun would be just another casualty in the Haunted House. Hardly anything suspicious given the area's history and the wild things that often populated it. He could pictured the wonderful struggle, the feeble attempts to either port out or fight back (one cut to separate pendant from hunter, one stab to the chest, respectively), the curses and probably manic, dark behavior—just like in the infirmary.

If she had really wanted to strangle him, she shouldn't have half-assed it. That was the disappointing fact about hunters like Peyton: with orders, they were a force to be reckoned with; without them, they were so very human, bumbling even simple tasks like harassing the sick who couldn't even fight back.

Stupid b***h.

As if a switch had been flipped, Jack regained some animation in his eyes, tapped her chest once in a manner that said good one at a tacit joke, and stepped away. "I believe we are finished here," he said casually, checking his watch. "I am due somewhere else in ten. Do us all a favor and find clothes that aren't part of slut fashion." He reached for his pendant, then paused and suddenly smiled a little at Peyton.

"Ah, almost forgot: tell your sister hello for me if you see her first, won't you? I believe she's due for an infirmary shift soon."

And with that, he activated the pendant and ported out.
