PRISON BREAK

gaia_crown [ LOCATION ]

    Coiba Prison, Panama

gaia_crown [ SETTING ]

"The prison is dank and decrepit, as anyone might expect from an abandoned place. There appears to be no souls in sight. That is, save for strange little mobile creatures of metal with glowing blue runes on its body. These seem impervious to your attacks. Best to avoid them for now."

gaia_crown [ MISSION ]

There's a small outpost stationed at an abandoned prison on the island of Coiba. Only one hunter resides within, but we have found that this outpost is heavily guarded by their runic technology. We believe this hunter is there to develop their technology further to eventually bring back to their home base. This cannot be allowed. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to infiltrate the outpost and slay this hunter. Destroy any prototypes you find as well.

gaia_crown [ MECHANICS ]

Roll 1d100 to navigate the prison. Before the boss phase, player hunters may come around to engage your horsemen. This base supposedly only has one deep within, but it isn't impossible that one or two may come by to check on his progress and to make sure everything is fine.

1 - 20 : You find nothing but empty cells.
21 - 40 : There appears to be a pile of scrap metal here. But no hunter to be found.
41 - 60 : A light shines upon you. As you look towards the source, you see a small red light before you're suddenly assaulted by a barrage of some sort of projectile. -5hp
61 - 80 : One of the little metal creatures finds you. It makes some sort of strange noise and you soon find more of them appearing at your location. They attack! You better get away quick. - 5hp
81 - 100 : BOSS ENCOUNTER - Tucked away deep within the prison is the lone hunter, working diligently with some metal and wires. He doesn't seem to notice you... yet.

Quote:
Roll 1d20:

1 - 15 : The hunter turns around, jumping at the sight of you. He presses a button and several turrets come up to help defend him.
    • Boss HP: 60
    • Auto damage: 5

16 - 20 : You manage to sneak up on him and slay him before he can retaliate.

gaia_crown [ BONUS MECHANICS ]

Please apply these bonuses based on your clan:

    • Famine: +10hp to max amount
    • War: +3 damage
    • Death: +2 to your roll at the 'sneaking up on the boss'
    • Conquest: For both the searching and battle phases, you only take 3 damage instead of 5.

gaia_crown [ REWARDS ]

+1 additional rp point for completion

It was hard, moving into a stationary place. He'd hated the reservation for being a flat land with no room to dig and explore, and the tower was even more confined. But it was, at the least, huge enough that travelling to the top took some time and effort.

(And a great deal of muttering from members of the other clans, too, as he pilfered pillows and drank all the tea and got it everywhere because he's a tiny a*****e who has no regard for the belongings of others, especially for anyone outside of Famine.)

He'd claimed a sandy corner for himself, and decorated it with a number of minipets he'd acquired (Many Many, of course. Why would they be anything but Many Many?) and intended to spend exactly zero time there while awake. There were things to do, now, and while they were not tasks from the Mother, they were issued by Medea would earned his loyalty as long as she could make him strong.

And she could, with the promises of new powers if he did as her and that great crystal requested. Promises of true Scavenger potential unlocked, of bugs and swarms, of horror and grime.

So, perhaps, Lurks obeyed.

It helped that the assignment was to kill a human. He liked that very much indeed, still infuriated and sore over the loss of his favoured Original to the red one, who he liked so little he did not bequeath a capital letter to. He donned his cape and traversed through the natural portal ripped open in the world, the result a dank and gloomy prison. Lurks decided that he was fond of this place, and its ugly and damp ways. He inhaled, the air rattling through his skeleton-bone lungs, and exhaled, cloaking himself with shadowy bugs from head to toe.

They were not quiet. They did not conceal him well.

Lurks did not have any intention of hiding.

--

The hunter was alone, as the task had said he'd be, surrounded by technology. He was bedraggled, and thin enough to look like the Original. Lurks had seen many humans from afar, but this would only be the third one up close. Lurks crawled along the ground, hands scraping against the tile, body contorted into strange ways that flesh would not allow. But Lurks had very little of that, and was not governed by the same rules humans were. His wings fluttered behind him, softly flapping. So softly.

"Come and see," he whispered, a quiet breath on stale air. "Come and see."

"Just one more," the hunter whispered, eyes alight with the concentration and the backlight of his glasses, lit up in the same acerbic blue that the mechanical creatures flickered in. They could not see Lurks, obscured as he was, a thousand figures from one, facial patterns distorted by flickering-grey and wobbling black shapes that divided and collided at will.

"Hello," Lurks said, fingers wrapping around the hunter's thin neck, satisfied at the scrape of stubble against his bone fingers. "Have you met the Mother?" he asked, squeezing too tight for an answer to emerge, watching with a tiny smile as his face bulged and his body convulsed.

"She wouldn't like this very much," he remarked, flinging the body away from him at full force. The fear shadows scattered and reunited, flickering into red eyes against the blackness of his wing like a thousand bats watching in the dark. "But she isn't here."

Suddenly infuriated, the scavenger lunged at him again, and before the poor man could retaliate, Lurks landed heavy on his chest, twisting his head clean off with both hands. He sat there, knees pressed to his victim's sides, face sharp with a grim satisfaction that just wasn't satisfied ENOUGH.

"It isn't the Original who deserves it," he mused, and it was not his death that Lurks thirsted for. "It wasn't her, too."

He dropped the head, watching it roll off until it got kicked around by one of the hunter's own creatures, impassive and blank, already bored of this game and craving the next. "I want to play with them," Lurks said, dropping back to all fours, skittering out of the prison and towards home. The new home. The reunited home, even if it wasn't his idea of one.

(His home would have pets, so many of them, trained to accept the pettings and the hugs and to behave and come when called. His home would be wonderful, and nothing would go wrongly against his wishes.

Nothing at all.)
