It had been some time since Mathias and the other students had returned from their ordeal. Jove had slept lots himself, and barely budged from the wolpertinger's side in the days that had followed, but Mathias wasn't the only one he was concerned about. There was someone else who needed to be checked up on.

Jove had not known where Llyr's room was prior to seeking him out, but his nose was as keen as ever. He could follow the watery scent, somehow clean and free of the fish, algae, or rot scents some of the other water creatures gave off. It was faint, but the longer he trailed it, the more that worried knot twisted in his stomach. The water demon was not intellectually strong, and when Jove thought about how deeply the event had affected Mathias, he could only hope Llyr was simply not clever enough to be scarred. Like a foxfire that runs afoul of another nasty minipet, and promptly forgets the next day so long as the two don't meet again.

Finally Jove stalked the faint clear-water trail to a door, and sniffed around to confirm before giving it a knock. Llyr had to be in, the scent was stronger near the door than it was from down the hall, but it was not a recent scent either. If he didn't open the door after the second knock, Jove would find a way in to go get him. Pets should not be left alone in the house for too long, it wasn't healthy.

Llyr had returned from said ordeal looking a little worse for the wear, paler than normal, and quieter than he had been previously. For the first several days following his arrival back at Amityville, he'd locked himself in his room and hadn't come out, preferring to spend his time soaking in the rather large pool of water that took up most of his dormitory room. It was fortunate, perhaps, that he could breathe underwater with ease, as Llyr spent many hours simply sitting beneath the water.

It was comforting there, surrounded by gentle waves and a soft pressure; nothing at all like the place he had been before. Llyr enveloped himself in the water like a hug and allowed it to return the embrace.

On the fourth day, he finally decided it was somewhat safer, and chanced to put some clothes on (since apparently that was required here to walk around, though Llyr saw little point, as they just got in the way). Wearing little more than a simple, flowing white toga dress that fell past his feet and dragged along the floor, Llyr padded towards the door of his room, intent on peeking out to see if there was food about (he'd run out of snacks).

When he pulled open the door, he found, not a snack, but fluff and freckles.

"Ah," said Llyr curiously. "Ah."

Then he just stood there, staring benignly at Jove.

It was worse than he had feared, his pet was no longer even using proper language. Llyr had been able to manage real words in the past, and although Jove did not often require speech from his pets, this one was an exception. Being also a student and all.

Jove blinked back, assessing the water demon for a minute. Clearly his pet had not gone feral. Neither did he look particularly traumatized by the experience, but that wordless stare could mean any number of things. Jove would just have to investigate further.

He held out one hand, and curled one finger in a "lean down here for a second" gesture.

Llyr still stared at Jove as though trying to remember who exactly he was. His long, dark hair was free about his shoulders, cascading over the scaled arms, and he stood completely still as he looked down at this small, fluffy haired creature with dots across his nose that were rather appealing.

(Llyr had no such dots, but in fact, more scales. This was very unfortunate.)

He tilted his head as the boil held out a hand, and quirked a finger. Puzzled, Llyr tilted his head to the side for a moment and then, once he understood this gesture, obediently bent forward towards Jove, hair falling everywhere, his expression quite placid for someone who had just been forcibly kidnapped and tortured for several days.

Jove's usual frown remained in place as Llyr bent down, and without a change in expression, he reached up and patted the demon on the head. Good boy. You will be safe with me. The gentle pet turned into a head scratch, the sort his foxfires always enjoyed. But it was a bit different. Llyr's head was much larger than a foxfire's head.

The pup finally stopped with the head scritches, and then trotted a few feet down the hallway. He turned to see if Llyr was following, and then took another step. Hopefully he could lure his pet out for some walkies.

Llyr received the pat on the head with a certain amount of pleasure and bemusement. Pleasure, because he did like being treated well, and bemusement, because he wasn't quite sure what the head patting - followed closely by the scratching - was supposed to mean. Was this another one of those friendship things?

Llyr decided to just smile vaguely and endure it (it was rather nice); and after a while he saw Jove's hand lower, and Llyr straightened again, readjusting his tunic. The boil had moved away a few steps, giving him a pointed look, and it was approximately five minutes and thirty-two seconds later that Llyr finally understood that he was meant to follow.

Obediently and slowly he shuffled forward, blinking placidly.

This pet was kinda nice, Jove thought. Foxfires had so much energy, they bounced around and yipped and turned into little balls of excitement at the slightest provocation. Llyr was calm even with scratches. But still a little slow, mentally and physically.

The ghost had no leash with him, and a part of him was not even sure it was allowed to put another student on a leash even if it was just for walkies... So he waited until Llyr caught up and took the demon's hand. It was kind of like a leash. So long as he didn't let go, Llyr would be able to follow along without much mental effort.

Jove wagged his tail, satisfied that everything was in order. He began leading his student pet away from the room and towards the entrance to the dorms, gently at first, letting Llyr move forward or hesitate at his own pace.

Llyr felt a small, gentle hand wrap little fingers around his own, which were long and graceful, the knuckles lightly scaled. He felt no qualms about this show of affection, and followed along beside Jove, as docile as could be for a six foot water demon.

It probably took them a while to get to the entrance hall, since Llyr was, by nature, extremely slow and easily distracted. Approximately fifteen minutes later they would reach their destination of the front doors, after Llyr had stopped to gaze curiously at a myriad of miscellaneous items all stemming from a wall painting to a speck of dust to a boil sitting on the couch in the lounge.

Llyr, however, still hadn't uttered a single word other than the faint, noncommittal Ahs he'd made upon Jove's first arrival.
