Midnight Strike yawned as she made her way up Laisidhiel to her nook. What a long day. Sure, that carnival was fun and all, but it was so far away. The moon was full and high in the sky by the time she got back. Her wings were killing her. Should couldn't imagine the journey the earth fauny had to make and she thought she saw a few of them there. She was glad she had wings.

The Tree was quiet, most had gone to bed, though there were always a few night owls up. Midnight Strike mused over her day as she flopped onto her bed. Sure there were fauny there, but she didn't think there was a faun there. What was with them? They said not to go to the party at the start of the year too. Did they just not like to have fun? Bunch of party poopers, that's what they were. Midnight Strike sighed and closed her eyes. They really needed to learn how to relax.Her thoughts started to quiet as her body became heavy. The fauny slowly slipped into sleep.

The moon hadn't moved far in the sky when Midnight Strike was stirred from her sleep. It felt like something was pulling on her hair. Her eyes fluttered slightly but ultimately stayed shut. She must have been still dreaming. The fauny groaned lightly and buried her face under her arm, shifting slightly and doing her best to ignore whatever wasn't sleep. The soft singing of the crickets filled her ears as the grogginess slowly left her. Every moment she laid there she became more in tuned with the world around her. The air felt different. Magical even. She new she was tired but she didn't think she was THAT tired.

Her head seemed to still be sore, still feeling like something was pulling on her hair. She grunted and moved her head on top of her arm. This was getting annoying. It was no sooner that the thought ended that something forced her eyelid open and Midnight Strike found herself staring back into a grey eye.

The word seemed to slow down as several things happened in succession. Midnight Strike jumped back, screamed, and fell on the floor with a loud thunk. The little Pegasus boy nearly fell over in a heap of giggles, the strange lady was funny.

It took a moment of just laying on the floor, slack jawed, before Midnight Strike noticed a...Moving white mask? Midnight was fully awake but had never felt so detached from reality in her life. The white and gold mask wobbled a bit before it fell over, revealing the same trouble maker for before...No. This one was different. What in the world...

Midnight scrambled to her hooves as she reached for a candle. She quickly lit it and looked at her room. She was no longer alone.

On the bed sat the first toddler that she had seen. His right ear twitched slightly as he stared at the adult before him. He was grey mostly with a bit of white on his face. He was a fauny, a pegasus though he had some differences. On his head he had an odd red feather. He also did not have a normal tail. More feathers that were white, tipped with red. Midnight had never seen any pegasus like him before.

On the floor, on top of the mask, sat a second one. Just like the one on the bed only with blue where the other had red. Then there was the strange mask she was on. Midnight just stared for a moment before snapping out of the shock. She picked up the toddler from the floor and placed her on the bed next to the first toddler. Where...? Midnight's attention shifted from the toddlers to the mask on the floor, slowly picking it up. It covered one eye though it almost looked like flames with a golden trim. It was beautiful. Midnight almost felt compelled to try it on and it fit her face like it was made for her. She quickly looked around her room. It didn't look like someone had broken in. Nothing was missing. Who brakes in to leave a mask and babies!

Midnight put her attention back to the two on her bed. She slowly moved to them and kneeled down, her eyes drifting between the two of them. "Where did you two come from?" She spoke softly to them, though the tots were starting to yawn and curl up with one another. They were sort of cute but who would abandon them? Why were they put in her room? What was going on? Her head was starting to hurt.

Midnight rubbed her hand against her head before she blew out the candle. She didn't know where or why there was babies in her room, but there were babies in her room. More so there was no one who could help her find their parents up at this hour. "Looks like I'm babysitting for a bit. Hopefully we can find out where you came from." Midnight sighed and took off her mask before crawling back into bed beside the two tots. Seemed like the next little bit in her life wasn't going to be so boring after all.
