Defense Against the Dark Arts - A
Elsie had always struggled with the practical side of DADA, and since the NEWT was all practical an Acceptable was sort of inevitable. While she didn't completely fail at the tasks, they were definitely a struggle for her, and though she completed everything asked of her up until the boggart, she certainly didn't complete anything on the first or sometimes even the second try. She was relieved her score was an A, rather than a P.

Transfiguration - EE
Elsie gave herself unicorn legs for her NEWT, but as she'd always had to work very hard to do well in the class, they weren't perfect. She'd had to study intensely for this exam, and was obviously very worried about doing poorly on it when she took it. However, the mistakes in her transfiguration were not harmful or too serious, so she received an Exceeds Expectations, to her happiness.

Ghost and Ghoul Studies - EE
Due to her V last name, Elsie was forced to catch a ghoul. Feeling as though she had been dropped into a horror movie, she went about the exam with an expression of dread on her face the entire time. Luckily, she did manage to catch the ghoul, but not before it scared her several times, and her exam stretched on for a quite a while until she finally succeeded. She got an Exceeds Expectations, which she was very proud of, as she'd been fearing an Acceptable.
