[Drabble PRP] Prom Prep

Phase 2 - Tables Turned

Eventually they reached the... well it was something of a sign up that the Student Council had set up. There were sheets and a sealed box for the sheets to be placed it. The whole thing was for those who, ahem, had some difficulty acquiring a date for Prom. Ruth proudly gestured to herself then at the sign ups. Thankfully her eyes were hidden because they glinted a little mischievously at the time.

She picked up a sheet, found a penstrictor, and wrote purposely, even comically large: ANDREW

Phase 2 Nooo!

Oh she had signed herself up for a blind date. huh ok, how interesting... wait... what was she doing? Andrew's tail blazed for a moment. "No not me!" he reached out towards the paper fire blazing off his finger tips. His tail whipped to and fro catching some steamers on fire that burned and the flames turned over on themselves as he realized what had happened, for a moment.

"I don't want to."

[ The search begins ]

The hunt began sooner than she was expecting it to, mostly because one such contender to being the author found her instead. (And she hadn't even closed her door). Olivia's head picked up as soon as the sound of shuffling got just a little bit louder and her own smile grew when she recognized who it was.

As it usually tended to go when they were alone, Olivia remained silent as she took a step back into the hall - her door still open to the clutter of her dorm and the small audience that began to grow as grumpkins piled themselves at the doorway. The damaged note was simply held up and her head tilted towards it in question.

Playing with Fire

Ruth anticipated the flames, anticipated the demon's reaction but the blaze was more than she bargained for. Her bangs normally kept her eyes hidden but the sudden onrush of heat sent the strands of hair fluttering up against the bill of her cap. She squeezed her eyes shut as her arms raised to shield herself as paper burned around her.

The rest of the fly-ers either soared away to somewhere less hot or scattered around her. The Violet gave her a little nudge, toppling her off balance and landing flat on her behind.

Search and Confuse

Ruth was still holding out the prom poster when she finally reached Olivia. The reaper tilted her head as she thoughtfully read over the damaged note. With pursed lips and a fist pressed against her lips, Ruth tried to convey as much puzzlement as she could.

She pointed to Olivia, then to herself, then finally to the poster. And Houston we have a miscommunication here.

Control

That was not what he intended to do. Was she hurt? He pulled his tail away and wings circled over her. The fire was gone but was she burnt? Scorched? He didn't see any marks. "Are you ok?"

Control. That was out of line. He should not have done that. it was too late to play back time, but... he had to be sure she was ok. Perhaps he really shouldn't be bothering her either.

Playing with Fire

With hands still covering her face, Ruth felt rather than saw the wings encircle her and the heat of Andrew's body close by. Her fingertips were safe, singe-free, though the same could not be said for her fly-ers. Wordlessly, the blonde could only respond with a nod and an audible sniffle of someone trying to stop themselves from crying.

It wasn't that she'd been scared. Oh certainly she was surprised, even startled, by Andrew's reaction but Ruth found it exhilarating and wouldn't mind seeing him do it again. But the Violet was less pleased and much more skittish and easily frightened. Hence the tears and the trembling of her shoulders.

phase two failed

"Alright good." Andrew looks her over one more time. He has scared her bad... it was time for him to go. Before he caused more problems. Besides he was pretty sure she was leaking and that was just awkward. Time to go then. He awkwardly shuffled away.

Phase 2 - redux

Andrew wasn't getting off that easy. The Violet was demanding a little bit of aftercare and in these situations, she was prone to weaseling her way to get what she wanted. Ruth's arm quickly reached out to grab at Andrew's clothes, because she wasn't stupid enough to grab his body.

She gripped firmly and looked up, pouting with trembling lips. No, Andrew, you aren't getting away that easily.

Caught!

She didn't let him go. Instead she clung to him. Him the source of her fear. Well not him, just his cloths. He turned and looked at her once more, only to see a trembling lip.

"Blondie..... what is it?" his wings twitched and once again encircled the ghoul, this time more so in his effort to try and comfort her. "You don't want me to go to prom with you an I don't want to go to prom."

Phase 2 - redux

Yes, good, the flame demon was successfully kept in not quite captivity. But at least he was still here!

In response, she drew the question mark in the air. Then pointed towards the sign up sheets, fingers curling inward as if she could move them to her hand.
