They are pretty scary!
Gender: Male, but only barely
Personalities: Loup is:
Industrious:
Lou works hard, he works well, and he does what he's told. He doesn't ask unnecessary questions, and he doesn't do unnecessary things - he just puts his shoulder to the grindstone and does what he needs to do.
Stalwart:
Lou is brave man, willing to go, grimly, where others fear to tread. It's a little more than that, however - he will also stay there and keep up the fight until others are out of danger, and then – and only then – will he retreat. And, to top it off, he won't complain about it at all.
Reliable:
If someone puts their trust in him, that trust is repayed and was likely hard-earned. Lou is capable of a lot of things and willing to shoulder responsibility when needed... and he does it quite well.
Respectful:
Lou understands that his fellow hunters and he have a dangerous job, and that those in higher ranks have been through a lot more and done a lot more. He shows them the respect they deserve for their rank. However, he isn't a groveller or a bootlicker - he seeks to earn his own respect. Consequently he has little innate respect for more civilian authorities, especially those that got there because of corruption or family connections. Deeds, to him, speak louder than pure rank... it just so happens that Hunters incorporate both.
Secretive:
Lou is willing to talk, and willing to be quiet, and is generally friendly if not always the warmest hunter in the bunk. However, don't expect to get his life story or anything actually personal out of him – he keeps his secrets, and he'll keep yours if need be. Don't be surprised if somehow, after you've had a perfectly lovely conversation, you realize he's somehow dodged every personal question without you realizing...
Cautious:
When out on a mission, he is never completely comfortable, always keeping an eye on everything. He expects the unexpected to appear. Also relevant, Loup has respect for hunters, but he also is wary of them. Honestly, he's wary of everybody, and reluctant to take things at face value. Hunters, though, garner a strange mix of wariness, respect, and appreciation – its hard to say (even for him) what he makes of them...
Distrustful:
Don't take it as an insult if Lou doesn't believe you. He's willing to be honest with you, but he doesn't expect such things of everybody. He doesn't hold lies against you, why should he? In his experience, everybody lies. However, he will check and doublecheck, and possibly won't even believe it then.
Harsh:
Lou is generally quiet, but he doesn't mince words or actions. If he thinks you've done wrong, ******** up, or are a dangerous evil nightmare beast, he's going to say it outright and treat you accordingly. He is not a hypocrite – he takes criticism when they are due to him, and he will accept them in the spirit that they are given.
Sogweh is:
Patient:
Sog is a sloth, and he was also a halloween monster, made to stalk and scare. As such, he is very patient if not outright lazy, willing to wait for things to happen.
Cunning:
Sog might be slow, but he's not stupid. His sluggish patience hides a willingness to plot and plan, and sometimes he can be very, very devious when least expected.
Chaotic:
Between his hunter's silence and his natural wildness, Sog can sometimes be a little unpredictable. Even Loup, attuned to his weapon, can be taken by surprise by the sloth's moods and ideas.
Fierce:
For a big slow herbivore, Sog can be vicious if riled. If he must fight, he fights, and he doesn't stop until his hunter says its over.
Hungry:
To his great dismay, even as a weapon, Sog is hungry. He is always so hungry, and of course this gets worse when he gets a taste of Fear in a fight...
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter?Loup Emaurris was born to a middle-income family on one of the Caribbean islands. Their lives were not bad, and they weren't poor, but the conditions they had to live under were not the best. His parents worked in the tourist industry, and his three older siblings worked throughout their little town. Loup and his little sister grew up with a deep understanding of just how different things were for the locals and for the tourists. They were, he knew, completely different worlds. His world had heat and goats and a roof that occasionally leaked. Their world had riches and luxury.
Still, it was not a bad life. They were comfortable and generally happy, though there were an abundance of chores and every member of the family had to pitch in. The parents were able to set money aside for their children, but as the older three children found themselves drifting to – and perfectly happy in – other jobs around the island, that money went towards Loup's education. It was because of that money – and some scholarships – that he was able to go to a decent college and get a degree and even start thinking about moving forward.
He was torn, though, as to whether to pursue law or something else. So, he took a few years off, saved up some money, and went traveling with friends. They went to America, travelling through Florida, Richmond, DC, and New York City, thoroughly enjoying the sights and the history. Boston was far from the last stop in their plan – they hoped to see Niagra Falls and maybe make at least one foray into Canada before they had to return home. Unfortunately, he was there for the marathon, back in 2013, and the bombs brought his East Coast romp to an end. He and his friends were unhurt in the event – they were fortunate – but in the wake of the chaos they lost their desire to travel. They decided to return home, and – haunted by the memories – Loup tried to get on with his life.
But, as he tried to prepare to go on to school – law school, he had decided – he kept returning there in his dreams, kept seeing the events unfold in front of him, helpless to do anything about it. And, as if something had turned on inside him, the shadows – the same sun-drenched shadows that had surrounded him since his birth – suddenly seemed menacing and terrifying. He grew jumpy and – despite not believing in most spiritual things – his younger sister finally encouraged him to see a priest of some nature. There were many priests on the island, of various religions, spiritualities, and ethnicities, but no matter who Loup talked to, none seemed to understand his problem. They blessed him, chanted over him, and took his money, but the fear still remained, and grew more real bit by bit.
Then, one day, he found someone who understood, who told him that what he was seeing and feeling was something special, and that he would feel better soon. And it had to be soon: Loup tried to concentrate on his studies, and to work on his applications, but the nightmares grew ever more terrible. He was starting to miss out on his life, and he needed to fix whatever was going on with him.
He needed to do it soon... Soon, however, someone came to him... but not to fix him. Instead, they asked if he would like to fight the nightmares, and make the world a better place.
Loup saw no other option but to accept, and since then, he's decided that there are few other options that he would want.
Weapon AbilitySurprise Strength (Battle Cry): Sogweh was a beast, and make no mistake – in battle, when activated, he adds some of his former muscular strength to Loup's swing, making it connect with far more damaging force. Or not, depending on Loup's luck.
