PLANNING THINGS SUCKS. I DON'T WANT TO PLAN A WEDDING.

I mean we were practically engaged anyway. October 1st is our 8 year anniversary.

But I got my great great grandmother's ring resized and went ahead and bought him a men's wedding band and went ahead and asked just to make it official. So yeah, already tradition is out the window because my mom is tutting and clucking about how he shouldn't be wearing his wedding band yet and I have to keep reminding her that it's an engagement ring, not just a wedding band.

So yeah. I have my heart set on Vegas because it means

Destination wedding = Minimal guests = Less money
Vegas is JUST far enough away that most people will not attend because it requires a plane ticket. But on the flip side it's a relatively CHEAP plane ticket for me.

They plan. EVERYTHING. Like...90% of the reason we haven't married is because I don't ******** give a flying ******** about wedding planning. It seems boring, tedious and stressful.

You can have it as cheap or as costly as you want. Elegant or cheesy, they do it all. You can get married on the Pirate ship at Treasure Island casino for under 2k if you'd like.

I am thinking about Chapel of the Flowers because their Magnolia chapel is baller and all silver and white and modern looking. The package I am looking at will be about 1k-1.5k total with plane tickets and hotel.

Also since I am cheap I am not buying anything with the word "wedding" attached to it. Like...I am seriously looking at Quinceanera dresses instead of Wedding dresses. The one I like the most is under 300 and totally looks like a wedding dress.

A friend of mine and her husband got a GoFundMe together and raised enough money to get married in full pirate regalia with vows that a salty sea dog would weep to. Who needs tradition (says the person who was married in a Lutheran church. >> )?

Congrats to you... again. Have fun with it. Whatever you do, I know you'll make it your own and it'll be the most beautiful/edgy/fabulous/insane day of your life.

That chapel is pretty bomb, btw. <3

But you could get married by Elvis!!!! emotion_kirakira

Also you should look into Modcloth for a dress. They have some pretty ones for less than $300.

I don't think I said it on your fb post but congratulations!!

I've looked at Modcloth, but didn't like any of them. I'm also not entirely sure I want to wear white.

I'm also incredibly afraid of tax s**t. Just spent the last 30 minutes trying not to cry because all the tax s**t is confusing as ******** and I ******** hate change. I hate change so much jesus ******** christ, I have been avoiding getting married so I wouldn't have to deal with either planning a wedding and figuring out tax s**t.

I also don't want a bachelorette party or a traditional bridal party with a bunch of maids. I pretty much do not want a traditional wedding. In fact at this point I am almost lazy enough to just do the courthouse. Almost.

Wedding logistics make me want to curl in a ball and sob.

Yay! Congratulations, Xippy! <3
Me and my beau have been together for 11 years now and engaged for 8 and we still haven't gotten married lolol
Mostly it's for the same reasons; too ******** expensive, planning weddings sucks woolly moose c**k etc.
To be honest, I might just do the courthouse thing 'cuz f that s.

I just don't understand the ridiculous expenses that go into a wedding!
Why would I pay hundreds of dollars for a ring??
Why would I blow literally thousands of dollars just so a bunch of family and friends can have a party??
That's all a reception is, really. And no one gives a ******** about the actual wedding part.
"I flew all the way in from [wherever]! WHERE'S THE FOOD AND BOOZE!?"
(Not to mention that Greek Orthodox weddings are long, drawn-out, monotonous as ******** ordeals)

Seriously. Who gives a ******** about tradition?
Wear a red wedding gown! That's the tradition in China!
Pretend you're a Betazoid and show up naked!
Maybe you SHOULD get married by Elvis!

Whatever you end up doing, just remember one thing:

IT'S YOUR WEDDING

YOU are the one getting married. Not your mom, not your uncle, not your childhood friend from grade 4, YOU are.
And you should do what YOU want for your own god damned wedding!
If someone is like, "Oh well you should be doing xyz and don't blah blah blah"
you turn around and tell them, "Well whenever you decide to get married, YOU can do all that!"
and if they're already married say "Well that worked for you but it doesn't work for me."

... sorry, I guess it's a touchy subject for me.
Weddings are nice and all but they're just so commercialized and SUCH a waste of money!
I don't need a big white wedding to commit myself to the man I love.
You want a party? Do it on your own dime.

I ACTUALLY SENT AN EMAIL TO A VENUE

HIDES FOREVER

But seriously, my mom bought me wedding favors already. Skeleton key bottle openers. I think I want a pirate themed wedding now. oh god. I was actually looking at little miniature treasure chests.

Lol the ******** never emailed me back. ******** them.

My mom has already bawwed at us not wanting kids there so I threw my arms up and said "So yeah, ******** that, Vegas it is. ******** what everyone else wants."

Congrats! I remember reading an article once about how Vegas is the best possible destination wedding choice. Not sure if this was it but here's some other good reasons, though I'm sure you've already thought of most of these.

Good luck!
