Rolling a 3: ALL DAMAGE HAS NO MODIFIER (ie: you don't need to subtract -6 ). You feel something brush against you, unsettling as it literally envelops you in a blanket of cold. You feel stronger but more distant, as if the battle around you is happening to someone else...

It wasn't Joy's fault that she had a somewhat positive view of Halloween people. Most of the Halloweeners she'd met (either through missions or even the haunted house) were people she would gladly protect. Horsemen, on the other hand, were another matter entirely and as far as Joy knew, they were two separate entities entirely. Deus info also classified them differently and her time at the jungle made her even more wary of Horsemen.

Still, Joy didn't think twice about patrolling the Haunted House on her own. Most of the time she ended up having an uneventful round, even if the place acted like it wanted to keep her going in circles until the end of time.

She was alert, however, because there were still dangers and though Joy didn't understand why herself, she secretly enjoyed it all.

How many rounds do you think it'll take before Yaya kills Joy dead? XD

Hadiyya had been in the haunted house any number of times, by accident and design. This time around, it had been the former that had placed her within the familiar, yet unfamiliar walls. The layout never seemed the same twice, but considering the nature of the place, that wasn't very surprising.

The djinn moved in a quiet melody of chimes of a gentle bells, not stealthy, but she didn't see much reason to strive for it. If there were hunters about, she wasn't interested in avoiding them. The last time she'd run into one things had turned ugly quickly, and she'd walked away with a good number of new scars, but it had been she that had walked away. The same couldn't be said for him.

Perhaps she had a bit of a vendetta against the awful humans, but considering all she'd been through, no one could have blamed her.

So when she heard something, the soft foot falls of someone walking down a nearby hall, she didn't shy away from it. Instead she'd turn to head in that direction, the tips of dark fingers brushing along the wall.

Joy was almost done with her patrol when she heard it: the soft, melodic tinkling of bells. It was either a part of some fixture in the haunted house, or it could be someone else exploring this weird as ******** structure. Whichever it was, Joy had been having an uneventful exploration and figured it couldn't hurt to go check it out, right?

The bladed shovel was shouldered as she set off to find the melody's source and when she turned a corner she saw a figure in the distance. From where the trainee stood, she couldn't tell if the other person was a Halloweener or a Horseman (despite the whole Jungle affair she spent more time getting her a** kicked and protecting her fellow hunters than noticing fashion and aesthetics).

So she didn't think twice about her usual assumption of another lost student not wanting to be left alone in this strange place. "Hello," she greeted with a friendly smile, "Are you lost? Do you want some company until the house lets you out?"

No need to roll for initiative Joy's non-aggro and kinda too trusting.

A figure turned the corner, not terribly tall, certainly not physically opposing in any way, but she as wearing the trademark white of a hunter, a weapon in her hands. The djinn stopped dead, glowing eyes narrowing on the dark haired woman, and as she spoke, a cold smile ticked up at the corners of dark lips.

"Help?" She chuckled darkly. "I don't want help from you."

The hunter wasn't close enough to see the swirl of darker color through Caribbean blues, like storm clouds gathering over the ocean, that touch of green before the heavens split apart to drown the world.

Her fingers twitched, hand coming up in an almost casual flick, but there was nothing casual about the sudden wave of water that came crashing down the hall towards the hunter, barreling into her, to send her tumbling, slamming against the far wall with for enough to make it shudder.

Joy didn't think much of it at first, she wasn't going to force her help onto anyone who didn't want it. "Ah, okidoks, no pro- oh pak shet!" she screamed as a wave of water came from literally out of nowhere to slam into her. She was swept up and off her feet, sent smashing into the haunted house's walls that with enough force that should have broken bones had it not been for her FEAR shield.

When the wave receded and Joy slumped to the ground, she was coughing up water and desperately trying to take in air. "Tang ina, I wa- hack wasn't looking to fight!"

Foolish! Foolish! Should have struck first! RETALIATE! Don't let up! Bert roared in Joy's head. It was the most the weapon ever said in one go and his enthusiasm was infectious.

Miraculously, Joy still managed to keep hold of her weapon. She hadn't been hit that hard since... well, it's been some time since Joy felt the throbbing ache of her body. Running her tongue over her teeth, the moon trainee broke into a run, closing the distance between them to take a swing at the hostile Halloweener.

"Your kind is a blight," she countered levelly as the hunter staggered back to her feet. "Your entire existence is dedicating to destroying my home, my friends."

Now the other was on the offensive, charging towards the djinn with her odd weapon raised. Hadiyya took a step back, arm coming across in a smooth arch, and the water around her responded, collecting and sweeping at the hunter from the side, but not before she'd swung.

The blade caught her across the hip, slicing along her stomach, and the marid grunted, jerking away with a vicious snarl, small hand snapping down to press against the bleeding wound.

There had to have been some seriously messed up s**t go down to make this Halloweener hate Hunters so much. Joy hadn't been awake long enough, hadn't gone out on Missions enough, hadn't heard or read or learned enough to know what to do or say in this situation. Bert's incessant goading to keep fighting, to dissipate them, to just keep going at it wasn't helping matters.

What to do? What should she do? Any attempt to talk things out would be laughed at (even by Joy herself) at this point. She didn't have a grudge against this particular Halloweener and she didn't like fighting for no reason. But the constant waves was giving her one, and she couldn't keep the grin off her face despite it all.

"So, like, what? You're gonna try to get me all washed ou-w!" Another wave of water knocked Joy off balance, her resulting counter slicing mostly through the liquid and barely even grazing the Halloweener.

There had indeed been some seriously messed up s**t happen to leave the djinn so terribly bitter. Thick scars circled her right wrist and marred her the hip on the same side. Pale against the dark of her skin, they stood out, even more so than the dark lines of henna that decorated her from head to foot. A hunter had been responsible for the injuries, on separate occasions, and that wasn't even accounting for the emotional and physical trauma endured by Marosa, or the rest of the student body at Amity.

Removing one hunter from the world wouldn't fix everything, Yaya knew that, but it would certainly help her own mood.

"Cracking jokes, even now?" Fingertips gingerly touched the thin slice the hunter had left on her arm, and the tips came away stained with blood. She frowned down at it, before glowing eyes snapped back up to settle on the hunter again. "You must be very brave," she growled softly, stalking closer. Liquid twisting and curling up her shins from the drenched floor beneath bare feet.

Before her, the water was collecting in growling tendrils. They slithered across the worn wood like graceful snakes, increasing in size and speed as they continued forward, collecting water in their wake. They sped towards the smiling girl, striking at her legs, twisting and coiling up her shins, her thighs, her waste. Up and up, tighter and tighter. Trying to squeeze the life from her.

Joy didn't think herself brave. It can even be argued whether Joy even thought about her actions at all. And with the water constricting her, crushing her, it was difficult for her to think at all. Running was one of those things that survival instincts would bring up to the table.

And even her weapon agreed that things were looking dire for the trainee. But rather than use her pendant, Joy slashed at the water to try and free herself in order to physically run. Her FEAR shield absorbed the blows, and thought it prevent actual fractures and rupturing, she was not spared of the pain. Despite that though, the smile remained on her face in spite of the agony.

Halp, Joy's too stubborn to run x.x Although I'm trying to get enough damage for Joy to warrant a trip to the infirmary atm. So if you could roll for defense, Bee's gonna do another attack roll and hopefully with the combined defense, the roll won't be lethal (just enough to warrant an infirmary visit)

A hand grabbed the back of Joy's coat and pulled her bodily back, away from the tendrils of water surrounding her. "Are you okay?" Jordan asked, though his eyes stayed on the lithe, scarred figure that stood down the hall, the apparent source of the water. He knew perfectly well that an unassuming-looking creature could be extremely dangerous. "I heard the noise and came to find out what was going on."

His eyes flickered to the walls and ceiling, calculating; he had enough room, he decided, if barely. He held his free hand out in front of himself, out past Joy, and summoned Ferros, interposing the bulk of the huge hammer between the two Hunters and the djinn. "We're leaving," he said to her. "I have no quarrel with you. Let us go."

That lingering smile, it grated at the djinn's nerves, had her fingers twitching, the water coiling ever tighter. Until another yanked the foolish girl from her clutches, to drag her further down the hall and away. Hadiyya howled her rage at the new arrival, small, bare foot splashing in the water pooling on the floor as she stomped angrily forward, one step, two.

"No quarrel?" She laughed, though there was no humor in it. "No quarrel. That is rich, coming from one of you."

Moving forward, she brought both arms, calling the water from the dripping walls, the soaked floor. Even from Joy herself. It ran back to the djinn to pool at her feet, climbing up along tanned legs. "I had no quarrel if your kind, once upon a time, but you have since proven yourselves a threat that cannot be allowed to continue on unchecked. You hunt us, you seek to destroy us. Why should I do anything less to you?" At the last, she threw her palms outward, towards the pair of them, but the brunt of the wave was for the trainee the male was seeking to protect.

Joy wanted to insist that she was fine, despite all proof to the contrary. She was drenched and her FEAR shield was gone with that last blow of water. It would have been a cool thing to watch, someone commanding the waves and making it do all sorts of badass things, even if she was on the receiving end. The Halloweener was talking about being hunted and being destroyed and this all sounded really personal and painful but Joy wasn't really in the right state of mind to process this.

Not when her weapon bond went quiet as a result of the shield breaking. Adrenaline had taken over now, it was the only thing keeping Joy on the fringes of consciousness. "G-go, you gotta. I'll keep-" Coherency on the other hand seemed to be as mythical a concept as unicorns was for Joy because it sounded like she wasn't quite done with getting the s**t drowned out of her.

The djinn didn't appear to be in any mood to listen to pleas for peace. Jordan's mouth thinned into a flat line. It sounded like she'd been hurt by more aggressive Hunters; it was reasonable enough that she wouldn't be open to arguments if that was the case, but it meant she was dangerous. She threw water at them, and Joy's weapon desummoned in the crashing wave, s**t.

"We're both going," he told her, and pulled her close against him, Ferros desummoning as he pulled the pendant out of his shirt and whispered the activation words to take them both home.

The weapons blinked out in a flash of runes, and seconds later the hunters followed. Hadiyya stood stock still in the hall, alone now, with only the soft drip of the water as company. Slowly, so slowly, movement returned to her, and she audibly growled her irritation and fury at having that small slice of vengeance being ripped from her hands.

Next time, she promised herself, turning on a bare heel to stalk back down the hall the way she'd come. Next time.
