The massive chocolate lioness lay comfortably on the stormborn borders. It was quite the stormy days dark clouds rolling overhead, threatening rain and thunder. She had been born here, she was used to this kind of weather and it would be a long time before she saw it again. She was off on a big reaving and she was very excited but this was her last time on the borders so she was going to enjoy it.
Hopefully, she would get a challenger....

A challenger she did receive – Kaelyn, a huria from the Firekin. She had nothing to lose at a place such as the stormborn, only ranks to gain and ladders to climb. And climb she would.
Burning orange eyes scanned the horizon of the new lands she eagerly waited to join. She held nothing against the pride she was from other than the fact that she had been cast from it due to coloring. If only they could have looked past the fur and seen her potential -- her father was a sad excuse of a lion but not her. She would move past blood and make a name for herself, even if it meant severing ties.
"You there," Kaelyn called out to the brown lioness at the border, stopping and standing tall and upright. All she had to do was prove her mettle? Consider it done.
"Fight me."

The massive chocolate lioness got to her paws. She had worn a cloak for years to hide her markings and even though she was no longer afraid of her mother being upset she still wore a cloak. Perhaps if she had known that the other lioness was also of firekin decent she may have been more chatty.
She smiled at the challenger and rolled her shoulders ready to pounce "Gladly my friend, welcome to the stormborn." She grumbled and dove at the other female claws out teeth barred. She did so love a fight, and a little skirmish before her travels was just what she needed to warm her up.

Kaelyn dodged, quickly moving into her opponent's space to throw her own attack her the lioness. She wasn't stupid, her opponent was a touch larger than herself, however, that didn't deter her in the least. Most of the firekin she had been around had been larger, heavier and more menacing to look at. She learned to move past it and hit the weak points.
Raising her right paw up, Kaelyn clobbered the brown lioness where the neck met the shoulder. Did it phase her though? Moving to hit the lioness again, she dare not stop and wait and see.

Feeling the rake of claws down her left side the chocolate lioness moved slowly to the left. She often had this problem, what she had in size and sheer strength she lost in speed. She knew this and usually did a lot of circling and pacing before simply moving in for the kill.
Although the slash to her shoulder told her that the other lioness had hit a muscle, no blood was drawn but she would have a nice bruise undoubtedly. She smiled and nodded "You fight like a firekin." She states rather simply moving forwards she. Attempts to shoulder nudge the other female, usually this would work toppling the other lion over and ending the fight quickly.

Kaelyn felt her blood boil, being told she fought like the firekin. Although most would be proud and she knew most were not like her father, only he appeared in her mind at that moment and boy did it ever give her a rush of energy. Ducking away from the shoulder nudge, Kaelyn immediately launches her head upward, attempting to drive her skull through the opponent's jaw. Even if they were larger, they'd still fall over when she landed the move successfully. "I might fight like a Firekin, but I will be a Stormborn!"

The chocolate female felt the head butt under her chin and though it left her feeling a little rattled she managed to move aside and look back at the deep brown femme before her. She seemed upset.
"My mother was born a firekin, her coat saw her expelled too but now she is a proud storm born and yes, you will be too." She knew this battle was drawing to a close, her head was feeling a little muzzy but she could strike at least one more blow before she allowed the new intruder to enter through their gates, plus, she really didn't want to get too hurt, she was due to go on an epic viking after all.
With that in mind she gave one last ditch effort a massive pounce to try and pin the other female.

Kaelyn flinched at her opponents words -- She hadn't expected such a turn of events, though, she should have known taking into account how large a lioness she was and how skilled. Would she meet other huria members here in the Stormborn? It was certainly likely, but it wasn't a major concern of hers, winning however, was. Sensing a sudden darkness, Kaelyn realized she had left her mind wonder too much. Her opponent was right over top of her, ready to pin her down. Reacting quickly, the lioness flung herself on her back, reading herself to receive the lioness and then toss her away. "You are smart." Hissed the lioness, straining under the weight. "But I will triumph over you." Shoving her legs forward, Kaelyn put all her strength into tossing the cloaked female away from her. Only then would she be able to end the fight.

The chocolate lioness smiled as she found herself in the perfect position. It seemed thislioness didnt like to be linked with the firekin. It had distracted her. She soon recovered though and a belt of her back legs hit her in the ribs. She stepped backwards, lowering herself closer to the ground she looks the other female over, she seemed desperate.
"Thank you, you are very skilled yourself, though I have been taught how the firekin like to fight." She rumbles quietly stalking a wide circle while she tried to get her breath back from the kick in the ribs. She knew she was close to loosing this fight, she was okay with that, new strong blood in the pride was a good thing.

A chuckle erupted from the lioness -- It didn't matter if her opponent had been trained to fight like a Firekin, her father, as much as she hated him, taught her more moves than most. Some garnering her comments on how cheap they were, or how they didn't seem fair. After being out in the rogue lands, she realizes her father's moves were actually some of the best when you wanted to survive. They were dirty, nasty and down right deadly -- not exactly the sort of technique the Firekin wanted used on others while sparring. In battle, maybe, but they still had to know how to execute the technique.
"Mmm, I feel like our meeting might be drawing to a close." Smirking, Kaelyn picked up some dirt and chucked it at the reavers face, charging at her soon after. Countless times she had been told she could leap as high as a Leopard could climb -- She never really believed others until not. Flying high above the lands, her claws were completely unsheathed- really to dig through whatever they touched, landing on some part of the lioness below. Continuing with inertia, Kaelyn landed her jump, wondering just how well she had connected with her opponent and if this was truly would be over.

SMM felt the connect and also felt the air pushed from her lungs she rolled left and stretched herself out pulling herself in to a gentle sit she gave a nod. "I believe you have won." She smiled quietly, she supposed she could have kept on fighting, but she really didn't want any more wind knocking out of her and her eyes were smarting. She was going to mention that her mother used that trick a lot. It was a favourite technique, one used by those who grew up on sands.
She decided against it though. The choocolate lioness took a deep breath and nodded down towards the dens. "Welcome home stormborn. Welcome home."

Kaelyn straightened up, breathy after the fight, had she really won? A feeling of excitement bubbled up from her stomach as tears threatened to sting her eyes. Why was she getting emotional now? Gritting her teeth, Kaelyn pounded the ground with her right paw. Taking a deep breath in, the dark lioness shoved her emotions deep within her, she could celebrate once she was settled in.
Nodding her head in appreciation, Kaelyn took her first steps forward, towards the direction of the dens then stopped. "My name is Kaelyn, I look forward to our next meeting."
With that, the dark chocolate brown Firekin shed her shell. No more a Firekin, no more.[FIN]
