A tiny, stubborn part of him said that it was too late for this. Skari blinked open his eyes, mouth stretching open in a yawn so wide for a cub so small. He didn't feel small, though - not knowing what was planned for tonight. Any desire he might have for sleep was quickly snuffed as he roused himself, and remembered The Plan.
The black cub shook all over, fur sticking out in all directions and bedraggled from sleep. The demands of youth kept him far too busy to smooth it, unless Mom or Dad made him. But they were snoozing. Grinning, he ran a paw over his head, making his mane all the rougher. Skari imagined that scruffier was better tonight, anyway.
Taking care to stay silent, he rolled to his paws. He crouched for a moment, holding his breath and listening for the sounds of anyone stirring - but here was nothing but the sleeping breaths of his family. Backing away from the bodies of his parents and sister, the cub couldn't help noticing that a certain form was missing...
The air caught in his lungs for a moment. It was tonight, right? He'd been excited about this forever - or, y'know, a couple of days? However long it'd been since his twin had told him about The Plan. He wasn't mistaken, right?
Tamping down on his worry, the cub hissed through clenched teeth. "Geist! Are you there?"
