Seren had been assigned a duty turn in the Haunted House today, and had sent Rhys a text to let him know where she was going. Once she got inside, she began to explore, her hand on Diwata's totem with every step. She really did not like the way she had been feeling since she had set foot in this place. She felt dizzy, and strange, and she just wanted to get her duty done, then go home. Unfortunately, she was not yet able to turn around and go back. She had an ugly feeling today was not the day where she would have a simple walk through, see an adorable and friendly student like Toki, and be able to leave.
She just hoped she did not encounter anything worse then the dizziness she had been feeling. A part of her was slightly terrified by what she might encounter. For a moment, her hand moved from Di's totem to the emergency pendant she always remembered to wear, then back to the totem. She was ready to fight, if needed, but she was not happy at the thought, and she wished they had sent her in with a partner today. She would feel better with some one at her back.
Especially Rhys. She always felt safest with him around... She shook her head a little, looking around the room she found herself in. She could not afford to get distracted by thoughts of her boyfriend. Not here or now, when she was literally in danger until she left.

Hadiyyas's approach was a very subtle one. A thin layer of water beginning to gather on the floor, soaking into the threadbare rug that ran the length of the hall so that every careful step the trainee took squelched softly. But even that on its own want unusual in itself. The house was ever changing, and the state of the rooms, the halls, it all changed from one visit to the next. It just added to the overall nerve wracking ambience of the place.
Maybe she'd hear a soft chiming, like delicate bells tinkling from somewhere deeper within the house. Or the walls were beginning to run, dripping, slowly at first, but the further she walked, the more wet they became until the curling itself began to sprinkle down on her.
The attack itself would come without warning. Sudden and violent.
Water surged up out of seemingly no where, filling the hall, roaring towards the trainee and sweeping her off her feet to send her slamming up into the ceiling. Holding her for a long, deafening moment, before simply letting her drop like a wet sack of flour back to the floor.
Now, with the water retreating back to its mistress, the source was obvious. She stood bare foot and dandy at the end of the hall. Dark skin covered from flats of chopped horns to the soles of her feet in Jenna and gold trinkets. Blue eyes blazed in the dimness, and dark hair hung around her body wet, heavy sheets.
"How unfortunate." Creeping water licked up her thighs, alive and beseeching.

Seren was unnerved by the way the House seemed to have more water then the last time she had been here. She had been told that it was different every time, but... She was thinking of the battle it took to get to the Creation Island, and the horrible trip to Atlantis. It was definitely not her idea of what she wanted to see here. She might have heard the bells, but if so, it was subtle and subconscious, and she was more focused on all the water that was dripping... And when it started pouring on her, she would wince, because she had just gotten used to not being soaked every where she went.
The sudden attack did not even give her time to shriek, she was too startled by it, and the pain of being slammed into the ceiling knocked the wind out of her. If she COULD have breathed, she would have been panicking about being up there, because she did NOT like heights. And the reason for not liking them, of course, came after, as she fell, slamming back onto the floor, her eyes huge.
She scrambled to her feet, fighting the way her lungs did not want to cooperate with her, staring at the female before her. She barely managed to summon Diwata. She took her huge sword in her trembling hands and stumbled forwards, beginning to breath again, as she took a not very good swing at the beautiful but deadly student in front of her.

Hadiyya hadn't even bothered to step back as the hunter had summoned her weapon to swing it at her. It was a weak an ineffectual attack, and though it had connected, the djinn only smiled darkly down at the colorful trainee. "Still some fight in you, good. The skittish ones are quite boring."
Not that the ghoul would give the other girl much of a chance to put that fighting spirit to work. The water that had retreated was flowing forward again, slowly at first, but as it rose around Seren, lifting her off the floor again, it began to flow more quickly. Faster and faster. More and more until that end of the hall had turned into a water prison. A solid cube of luke warm liquid holding the poor hunter suspended, pressing in against her from all sides, as if the pressure from the depths of the ocean was crushing in around her.
The djnns hands were outstretched, her Fear moving through them, and as her fingers closed, the pressure increased.
HP: 48
DMG: (14 - 4) x 2 = 20 (ouch...)

Seren screamed in pain, unable to help it, her eyes closing for a long moment. She had never felt anything like this in her life, and she had felt pain regularly, growing up. Her scars were, however, a reminder to her to NEVER let the pain win. And she focused, hard, making herself work past the pain she was feeling, through the shield. Diwata was murmuring encouragement to her, as well, and after a moment, Seren's bright blue eyes popped open, and she snarled out "I didn't let human monsters worse then you break me, I wont let you do it either. Even if I fall, I won't let you break me."
She managed to get Diwata into a position where she could swing the sword, despite the water holding her onto the ceiling. Unfortunately, the angle was s**t, and she was NOT used to fighting while upside down, so her swing was not very effective. Nonetheless, she tried, and that was what mattered to her. She was fighting, and trying with all of her heart to get herself out of this.
Even when she was sure she was going to fall, soon. Her only thought was she hoped someone might come, soon, because she couldn't die, not now. Not now that she'd found Rhys.

The sword blade managed to slip through the watery prison, slashing at the Djinn where she stood and nicking dark skin. It was enough to break Hadiyya's concentration, if only for half a second, but that was enough for the magic to waver, and the hunter found herself falling again, if only for half a second.
Lip curling, the djinn took a step closer to the floundering trainee, and with a thrust of her fist she'd catch the girl before she could hit the ground a second time, water rushing around her in a solid, crushing wave. "Little fool." Glowing blues blazed brightly, echoing the gem that rested at her forehead. "Did you honestly think you could stand against me?"
Fingers clenching, she jerked her hand back, body turning, to fling the water, the girl, all of it past her. Down the hall to slam into the far wall with force enough to make the house around them rattle. "You are nothing!"

Something had been gnawing at him since Seren had sent that text, so as soon as he was free Rhys headed straight for the Haunted House. Of course, as usual, he got portaled to the middle of nowhere in the maze of a house, so he wandered for a significant amount of time, Zephira drawn and hefted over his shoulder as he went It was a scream that got his attention and told him where to go. His chest tightened just at the sound, footsteps faint as the scream echoed in his mind. Replayed, over and over as he made his way closer. The halls seemed endless as he desperately ran, already breathless but not wanting to risk being even a second too late. It wasn't long before he heard her voice, followed by the sound of rushing water.
Rhys ran harder than he'd ever run before, coming to a skidding stop at the end of the hall where all the noise was coming from. And he was just in time, too, as he saw Seren and probably several tons of water coming straight at him. In the three seconds that he had he de-summoned Zephira, took a deep breath, and caught her before the force of the water slammed the two of them against the wall right behind him. Thankfully his shield was fully intact, so when the waters had gone he was dizzy and sputtering but not unconscious.
Even in his state he scrambled to find her pendant, activating it and making sure she got out of there first. And then slowly he got to his feet, squinting at a figure in the distance as he took hold of his own pendant. For a moment he debated staying, perhaps to finish the fight that Seren had started, but he thought better of it and followed after Seren.
