His wand's core, Griffin feather, made performing charms a little easier than it was for most. Plus, after deciding that he wanted to go into a career that required mastering charms, he decided he'd study his arse off for this class.
Defence Against the Dark Arts

Another NEWT that he needed for the Office for the Detection and Confiscation Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects. So, once again, he made sure to do outstanding in this class.
A History of Magic

At last minute, Amanda had convinced Oliver to continue with this class although he only got an A on his OWL. So, he continued and took the NEWT, although by the time seventh year rolled around, he didn't have as much time as he needed to do better due to working part time.
Potions
A
After deciding that he didn't want to join the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Oliver decided to focus his efforts and energy elsewhere as it wasn't a required NEWT for the Office for the Detection and Confiscation Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects.
Alchemy
A
Oliver enjoys sciences, and this class focused heavily on the four basic elements. Since it's very "normal" and not very focused around magic, it was a little easier for his brain to wrap around it. However, he didn't have enough time to do super well.
Cursebreaking
EE
Cursebreaking is an interesting class. It's one that challenges Oliver and is tough. When he's frustrated with an assignment, or really anything, he will keep at it until it makes sense, and that's exactly what he did in order to get that EE and prove to himself that he could do it. He could've sworn he would've gotten an O if he had a bit more time to study for it.
Study of Ancient Runes
O
Due to Oliver's partly photographic memory, remembering ancient runic scriptures was pretty easy for him. He didn't have to try too hard to receive an O.
Wandless Magic Practice Class
P
It killed Oliver that no matter how smart he was, this class was very difficult for him, no matter how much he practiced. Unfortunately, he ended up failing.
