The land was becoming familiar to her. She had left the green lion at the border. He had told her his name but she refused to remember. Refused to hear it. He was but a temporary companion on her trek home. Home. She never knew how much she didn't appreciate it. Not until the storm had ripped home away from her. The heavy scent of decaying leaves, of fresh foliage. Of wet earth. She hated water but the smell of wet earth... it brought back memories. Memories as a cub and chasing her friends among the trees. Of listening to the rain fall while her mother hummed her to sleep. It smelled of her life before the storm, the carefree bliss that she had taken advantaged of.

Quickly, Ingyentsim shoved the memories away. No, she didn't want to remember how happy she was. She felt foolish. And it reminded her of the ever present pit that had taken residence in her stomach. She could no longer be carefree. She could no longer see the world with bliss and joy. So she would no longer entertain such foolish memories. All she needed to focus on was home.

And home was close. A few hours still but close enough to ease the tension out of her shoulders, close enough to where she knew where home laid, rather than having a vague sense of direction. Hopefully, she didn't meet anyone while still too close to the borders; being questioned and mistakened for an outsider was tiresome. Being recognized and immediately greeted as though she was the same person as before was worse.

He had been born just as the storm was finishing it's terrible pass through their lands. He had witnessed part of it but was still too small to really grasp onto the reminder of it. He knew at one point he had been alone but other than that he recalled not much of anything else. He supposed that was a good thing, there were some that would have nightmares to come from everything that had happened.

As he walked along the slowly rebuilding lands he smiled. Life was good, while things were still mending it was a good place to be so far. He loved his pride very much and after everything it had gone through he was greatly appreciative for what he had.

As he moved along he spotted someone in the distance, the dark fur barely visible in the dense foliage. "Hello?" He called out, curious to see who it was.

A voice. Tensing, she considered her options. Running or hiding would be suspcious. And if she was caught or seen, it could spell problems later. And it wasn't as though she needed to hide from her pride. Fortunately, she didn't recognize the voice. And, as she edged around the foilage and into sight, she nearly breathed a relieved sigh. He wasn't familiar. Sure, there were markings and colorings that seemed... that she knew them. But she couldn't bring up the memory and she was certain this male wasn't one she met before. A new face. Dread slowly began to fill her. What if the pride was full of no one she knew? She didn't know what would have been worse. But it didn't matter. She needed to go back.

"Hello," she murmured in greeting, watching him warily, keeping a comfortable distance.

He could tell she was nervous as he grew closer and he wondered if perhaps he should just wait where he was and wait till she came to him? He let out a nervous breath himself and watched her, trying to look as non-threatening as possible. "Are you hurt?" That seemed sorta like a stupid question the second it left his mouth, she looked perfectly fine.

"Is there anything I can help you with perhaps?" She sorta seemed lost, but not lost. It was weird to describe, she just seemed out of place with herself almost. There had been a huge storm not too long ago, he had been but a cub during it. Perhaps she had gotten separated from her family during it. That made him sad to think of.

Ingyentsim hesitated at answering. She kept a fair distance still, glancing beyond him for a moment. To where she had once called home. It's still home,. "I... no, I am not hurt," she murmured, considering him for a moment. "Are you a brother of Iknimaya?" Of course he was. But she wanted to make sure. He had the color of most in their pride. And before, she wouldn't have had these doubts. But... all she was now was doubts and paranoia. I have to keep going, she reminded herself before stepping a foot closer to the male. Not much but now, she felt unsure. Many things could happen within this distance.

"I live here, in the pride. Before the-" she cut off. No, he didn't need to know it. She took a deep breath and continued. "I am just making my way home after a long time away," she decided on, slowly stepping to the side to go around him.

He was relieved she was unharmed. He stayed where he was since she seemed a little unease still and when she asked if he was from the pride he smiled and gave a nod. "Yes, I am." If she knew the pride it was likely she was one of the few that had been lost to the storm not too long back.

A lost sister returns.

"I can escort you the rest of the way if you'd like? I'm Aniheyu." He was relieved that some of them were starting to come back safe and sound. Though he knew there were one's that would likely never return. "We are happy to have you home sister."

Ingyentsim hesitated a moment longer. She didn't need an escort back. She knew these lands, grew up in them. Even with how much things have changed with the flood, she felt she could go home with her eyes closed. But... she couldn't refuse a Brother. No, that would seem uncharacteristic and may bring up questions. And so she gave a small nod, stepping towards him, though still maintaining a distance.

"It is good to be home, brother," she responded in kind, though butterflies were working their way up her stomach and towards her throat. She was nervous. Scared. Wary. She was going home but... was it still home? No. It was. She had a responsibility there. Sucking in a breath, she waited for Aniheyu to begin leading.

"It might not be the home you remember but it will still be home, that much I can promise you." With that he turned and lead the way back to the pride with her in tow. He hoped it hadn't changed too much to her but only time would tell.

Ingyentsim opened her mouth to respond... and decided against it. The less said, the better. Instead, she observed her surroundings, stomach turning as lingering signs of the flood showed; a collapsed tree here, a pond where there hadn't been, a pile of debris.

She focused on her surroundings and not the pride member that found her. Her eyes went to the sky, breath catching. It was slightly cloudy. Not much. But still... she hoped it wouldn't rain. "I'm home..." she whispered to herself, trying to ready herself, reassure herself. It didn't work.

He truly hoped that with all the destruction that had happened in the pride she wasn't completely off-put by what she was going to be walking home to. It was still home by all means, but much had changed and many had left or were missing. It was a sad time for sure but the time to rebuild was upon them and they would become stronger because of this. Of that he was sure. Not that he really know much of what it was before the storm, he had been born during it. But in the time he had to grow and learn he was pleased with how the pride had turned out in the end. They had come together and while it wasn't the same, it was something much much more. And he was glad to call it home.
