Something about the last Threadfall had gotten to her. The injuries on her hip and neck burned, healing from the thicks that had struck flesh and wiggled through clothes. Zenobiath was healing just fine, proud of herself and settled elegantly on their weyrledge. Sighing, the girl moved to sit against a large golden side, enjoying the warmth of her dragon's dark hide as she thought. It had been so long since last she'd sought out both Mother and Brother. Being the newest Goldrider meant there was a lot of focus on her, eyes that terrified her and excited her...but it was not at all what she'd expected. Zenobiath rumbled her armusement as Alumet stroked the neck of her tiny Green flit. Heartlight trilled in response.
It troubles you so that we are taking our place? It is where we belong, and what we are meant to do.
"And yet I am here without my family, and it pains me. C'lusi is so dear and important to me....We were inseparable before Impression...and I feel as though there's suddenly a terrible distance between us."

Heartlight chittered something, excited, flashing a few images to Alumet before flashing away. The young Flit hurried off to find the Bluerider, excited to hand the boy a letter that Alumet had never meant to send, inviting him to come to her weyr, to meet her, telling him how much she missed his company. It would be good to reunite them!

C'lusi had been checking on Macuith's wounds. His poor blue had taken a bit of a beating. A large, ugly wound continued to sweat and crack open on the dragon's hips and back. It was still tender, still burned, and wasn't healing quite as nicely as the man had hoped. C'lusi himself still walked with a bit of a limp -- his wounded leg was on the mend, but the scoring was going to leave an ugly scar, and similarly to Macuith, he now had a new wound from his shoulder right across his back. R'shahar had been helping him clean and tend to it, along with checks from the healers and his worried mother Alusia, but it still hurt. Anytime he moved his arms or stretched the muscles across his back found himself reminded about the wound. Like his dragon he'd already torn it open a few times.

"We're quite the pair, aren't we Mac?" He murmured lovingly to his blue after he'd finished applying more redwort and numbweed. He rested his forehead against his blue's nose, taking comfort in the cool, sweet breath of his dragon. The dragon gave a little rumble, sending waves of love and comfort to his rider.

We'll come out better next time. The blue stated cheerfully. Unlike his rider, Macuith had no problem shrugging off any of the incidents that occurred in Thread. There had been mistakes, but it hadn't just been in experience! Even seasoned riders could make bad calls or mistakes. They weren't the only ones who had messed up, or had walked away scored. C'lusi knew it could have been much, much worse. Thread had been bad, but that wind had been horrible. On the one hand, part of the man wanted to go back, just to prove himself; he wasn't going to flinch from the fight, or even the possibility of death. On the other hand, he didn't relish seeing his friends hurt, feeling Macuith's pain, or worrying about his family. Thread was terrifying, and he wished it had never come back.

Would they wind up like Cheza and Zurath? . . . very possibly. Would it be worth it though? For Macuith? For knowing they gave it their best shot? . . . absolutely. With Thread back, no rider was guaranteed a long life.

Pensive thoughts were disrupted as a firelizard appeared. He recognized the creature as being his sister's, and while at first he was alarmed -- what had happened, what had gone wrong -- he was quickly assured by the request. She wanted to see him? "Well, what do you say, Mac? Up for a little glide?"

The blue gave his rider an affectionate nuzzle of confirmation, dipping himself down so the man might easier mount. I'm surprised they have time to fit us in. Macuith laughed. C'lusi gave a snort. If he had felt distant from Alumet, he'd decided to keep his feelings on the matter to himself and his blue. He had learned quickly that as just a blue rider, and with a sister who Impressed a queen, that he was well considered nothing more than Threadfodder. They didn't agree with it, of course, but it was a minor note. The only reason he'd noticed Alumet's absence wasn't because he was jealous of her newfound status... but because he did miss her. They had been the closest of friends, and he had always been her big brother. Now? It was if they were but strangers.

"Well, best not keep them waiting. Let Zeno know we're coming." C'lusi instructed, pulling himself up on his blue. He grunted as his shoulders irritated his bandaged back, but there was nothing to be done about that. Zenobiath, is there room on your ledge for the most handsome of blues? The dragon asked with his usual good humor. With his rider secured -- no straps would be needed for this trip -- the blue stretched out his wings, and let himself take a gentle, ever-so-slow spiral, down to Zeno and Alumet's weyr. The blue made sure to await confirmation from the queen before showing up -- but also made sure he looked quite the pretty sight doing so.

Zenobiath carefully helped Hers to her feet, before escorting her to sit on the bed. The twinge of irritations from the woman had a soft trill of confusion from her beloved, before the Gold shifted on the weyrledge. Her head was still inside, but her body had made room, room enough for a small blue, one that it took very little time for the gold rider to guess. Good....Macuith and her beloved brother were coming. In an effort to disguise how she was actually feeling, the woman got to her feet, moving to the entrance between weyrledge and weyr proper to watch the beautiful blue and her wonderful C'lusi glide down. Oh, weren't they a sight? As beautiful as she remembered. It got a bright smile on her lips, eyes lighting up as she couldn't help but laugh, "Brother! Come!" Her tone was jovial, excited, as she gestured to the pair to join them.

The gold's wedge head raised, trumpeting her welcome to her brother, Macuith, most wonderful and lovely of blues, join me! I always have room on my weyrledge for you, or any other that might come in to my company! Her rumble was fond, loving. Yes. Let him come, let him and His be with them. Why? Because the Rider was beloved of her own, and because Macuith himself was beloved to Zenobiath, much as all her siblings were. Her tail dangled slowly off the ledge as she watched the joy on Alumet's face. It was nice to see such an expression of wonder and happiness on the other's face. They'd been kept so separate by their station, something that came to bear because....well. Colors were what they were, and had their place in this world, or so she honestly believed. The look she got from Alumet queited those thoughts, before the Gold shifted further, making perfect room.

The gold dragon graciously made room upon her ledge, and the blue dragon came to land ever so delicately nearby. He did so both out of pride but also because jostling around still hurt; his Threadscored wounds were still quite tender, and C’lusi’s own injuries were still fresh. Still, both rider and dragon had too much pride to say anything, and the blue dragon crooned pleasant greeting at his golden clutchmate.

Settled upon her ledge, and with Zenobiath so close, the blue did feel terribly dwarfed in size. Such a fine spot, for such a fine lady. The honor is mine, of course; it’s not often I find myself with company more beautiful than me. Still, his words were genuine, for she was a lovely creature, and not just because she was a gold. Her markings were subtle, her gold hues rich, and honestly, she was related to him, so she certainly must have shared in his good looks!

C’lusi, for his part, found himself smiling despite himself, as his sister welcomed him. He was quick to hurry over, trying to hide his limp, wanting to give his sister peace of mind. “You and Zeno look well,” he greeted, bridging the distance and pulling her into a hug. His shoulder and back be damned, how long had it been since they’d had a proper visit? Honestly, though he had felt strangely left out of his sisters new-found life, seeing her smiling, and seemingly happy--how could he begrudge her any of it?

Zenobiath was perfect for her, and if that meant that their time was spent more apart than together; if there was more of a strain, well… He wouldn’t let it turn to bitterness. They were still family, even if things had changed. Still, his hold on Alumet was strong, making up for lost time. Though Macuith was all that he needed in the world, the young man truly missed time spent with his family.

Goodness, wasn't he still a picture. The threadscoring was nothing to worry about, for Thread would mark all of them in time. Her wings tucked delicately against her side, until he started to settle. One wing gently rested upon his back, encouraging closeness. For the Gold was terribly fond of him, in her way. All the finer for your presence, and your own beauty is great. I would call us equals in beauty rather than I being more. Her nose bumped his, affectionately. They both came from the most royal and regal line, and were perfect.

How could she do anything but admire the beauty of her blue brother? Right from the shell, he'd showed his beauty and grace. Tell me. How are you healing. Tell me of your days. I long to hear.

Alumet wrapped her arms tight around C'lusi for a moment, burying her face in his chest as she'd once done, back before...all of this. Faranth be damned she'd missed his warmth against her. She felt so pulled apart from everything, and it was the absolute WORST. Fingers wrapped in his shirt, and it took a moment before she pulled back enough to look him over more thoroughly. "We're doing our best. Thread was unkind to us both last go 'round it seems." She'd been wounded, and C'lusi... "Are you limping? Are you alright?" Ushering him to the bed, she set pressed to his side, not wanting to be apart from her brother for the moment, "I missed a lot...Shards, I've BEEN missing a lot."

And there was no measure of guilt for it. Her life had been so separated from her mother, her sister, her brother...it was weird. Wrong. They'd always been so close to one another.
