Rhett Fang Ye's Exams (Completed NEWTS) Graded!

Astronomy: A
Rhett liked astronomy in theory, but he didn't like the applied aspect of it. So much sitting and note taking about something he would rather be outside enjoying than in some tower. He did study for the exam, but didn't focus his attention on this class as the more "practical" classes and only got an A for his very Average approach to the class, its course work, and studies.

Charms: E
Rhett was never the top of his class in any practical magic courses. He was good but not great and his score in Charms reflected this.

Defense Against the Dark Arts: E
Rhett was never the top of his class in any practical magic courses. He was good but not great and his score in Defense Against the Dark Arts reflected this.

Herbology: O
Rhett had always been a natural in herbology and any less than an O would have been a surprise for him. Plants like him and he loves plants. Helping his family in their garden every summer and since he was little didn't hurt either. Rhett was happy to say the instructor told him that it was too bad O was the highest grade because he was so adept in the subject. Rhett was wise enough not to say he had an edge because he was "part tree" as he figured he would take the compliment and run with it.

Potions: A
Potions was never one of Rhett's strengths. He didn't care for the damp dungeons devoid of natural light and he cared even less to sit and watch his potions. Drills by his sister and her push for him to study was the only thing that saved his grade from a P or worse and helped him scrape by with an A. He insists that his Potions grade was not a result of laziness but impatience with the subject and his potions.

Transfiguration: E
Rhett was never the top of his class in any practical magic courses. He was good but not great and his score in Transfiguration reflected this.

Care of Magical Creatures: O
Care of Magical Creatures was one of Rhett's favorite classes. He not only enjoyed getting outside to learn but also always enjoyed caring for living things (even beyond plants). Finding the class exciting he excelled in the practical and found studying enjoyable for the class which helped him secure a solid O.

Wandless Magic: E
Rhett genuinely wished he was better at magic in general, especially wandless. However, as fate would have it he only got an E in his practical magic exams with a wand it was unlikely he would do better without his wand. He was happy with his E finding the class challenging and rewarding at the same time.

Wandlore Studies: O
Rhett found he had a great love for wandmaking and wandlore which he learned not only from his classes but from watching and helping his father. He excelled in the exam and the only exam he did any better in was Herbology but he figured that was a given with him being half tree and all.

History of Magic: P
Rhett tried to focus and study for History of Magic, he honestly did, but found sitting still and memorizing facts was harder than he might think. When he arrived to the exam he found that he was poorly prepared. Not only did he not study enough, he focused on what he found interesting which was not as much on the exam as he hoped.

NEWTS

Charms: E
Out of all spellwork, Rhett found Charms to be his strength. Yet, despite his studying, he could not find the focus or drive to master the terminology and theory behind Charms.

Defense Against the Dark Arts: A
Rhett knew DADA was a vital class and despite not being a natural or a particularly driven student as indoor studies tended to bore him, he was able to get a solid A without too much difficulty.

Herbology: O
Not only was Rhett a natural thanks to him being “half tree” as he affectionately called himself, he was driven to do well. Between studying (driven by his chance at a farm after graduation) and a natural aptitude for herbology he easily scraped a perfect score.

Transfiguaration: A
Transfiguaration was far too technical in Rhett’s opinion. The only thing that saved him from getting worse (and he was one question from doing so) was his sister’s notes from her studies and his reluctant studying for the course, afraid to hear Lola’s rant at him not applying himself.

Care of Magical Creatures: O
Rhett’s kind heart and care for all things living he was able to show to the examiners. Taking patience and care with the creatures he encountered he received an O without any true struggle.

Wandless Magic: E
Rhett was never particularly bad at spellwork, with and without a wand. Rhett was able to rely on his application of spells more so than technical knowledge in this class and was able to get an E without much issue. If he practiced and studied more he probably would have received an O.

Wandlore Studies: O
Wandlore was the one class that Rhett could find the drive and interest to study for. Beyond his interest driving him to do the required studying for this course, his summers helping his father in the wandmaking business assisted greatly. Rhett was quite proud of his O in this course, though, it was not necessarily a big surprise. If Rhett applied himself more in all his studies he probably could have gotten grades closer to his Wandlore Studies NEWT.
