Ah, Flights.

They always seemed like such a good idea at the time, especially with a dragon in the air, but mornings after - or afternoons or evenings, whatever the case might be - left ample room for concern once coherent thought returned. Not to mention the potential for awkwardness! Everything that had seemed simple and right before didn't necessarily remain so, and the wait to see which way things would lean had him hanging in suspense from the moment he was awake enough to process that he had company in his bed. Neither Zijianth nor he had caught what they'd chased, but that was often the way of things, and not a concern in and of itself.

It certainly wasn't for Zijianth, judging by the contentment he radiated from out on his ledge. While the bronze couldn't deny disappointment that fatherhood yet eluded him, he wasn't one for lingering on what was done and over, and it had been let go within heartbeats of Fianth's choice. There would be other days, other Flights, and one day, he would have that priceless treasure he so desired. Just not today. Today, he had a very lovely little green, no less fetching than a shining gold, no less a jewel...and it was ever-so-satisfying to wrap himself around the much smaller form. At less than half his size, Feyeth was a delicate prize who fit very pleasingly beneath his wings, where he would happily keep her for as long for as long as she might wish to rest there.

A'ryx was no less wrapped up in his own partner, and as the first to wake, he had to suppress the urge to stretch. He didn't want to wake the man, both out of courtesy and a reluctance to trade the quiet peace of these moments for the frankly exhausting social mire that post-Flight encounters could turn into. So he stayed relatively still, his breathing light and even, and studied the greenrider's freckles. It was probably morning, if he had to make a guess, but early enough yet to still be dark. There was nothing in urgent need of doing, no reason to do anything but lie there and enjoy the moment while it lasted.

Sleep began to loosen its grip on the dark haired man, dreams turning into consciousness. He shifted, his body suddenly aware that he'd been in one position too long, and a change was needed. Rolling over, preparing to resettle himself, he reached over to find a second pillow to cuddle, and instead found his arm slipping around a warm body instead.

Any chance of falling back to sleep was kicked to the wayside as the memories of his night returned to him. In fact, he realized that not only was he not at all alone, but that this wasn't even his own weyr, or his own bed. While Feyeth had not participated chasing the gold, the green had taken advantage of the long line of disappointed, and frustrated, suitors. For K'din, the flight had gripped him just as powerfully. He wasn't usually the sort of man to simply fall into bed with a stranger, but the lust of the golden queen had removed his usual inhibitions.

Eyes fluttering open, he glanced up to see if whoever he was currently snuggling was awake -- ayup. Oh, Faranth help him. These situations were never easy to get out of, and he could only hope that whoever he was with wasn't full of morning-after-regrets. Reaching out to his green, he felt her own smug, contentedness. Though the green wasn't fully asleep, she was in no rush to move from where she was curled up beneath the wing of Zijianth. It was early yet, and Feyeth saw no reason to hurry either herself, or her rider, away. Instead, she simply burrowed herself closer to the handsome bronze she had wooed down from the skies.

Giving a slow, sleepy blink, he did offer a smile at the other, and a removal of his arm. That was only polite, right? Ok, words, he could do this. Words. Good morning? Hello? Thanks for the screw? . . . oh, By the First Egg, he was no good at this. "I see you're awake." Is what slipped out instead. Nice way to state the obvious. K'din had never been much of a charmer, and it didn't help A'ryx was both intimidating and good looking. "I mean... I hope you haven't been awake too long, or too uncomfortable." He shifted a bit, sitting up, trying to give the man some more room, and to show he was more than willing to oblige to make their current arrangement more comfortable. He certainly didn't want to overstay his welcome, or have the bronzerider feel crowded.

Maybe he should have just started with something simple, like good morning. Bah.

This was always the worst part about it, the waiting afterward to see what the other person was really like, how they would feel about and react to what had happened. No more outside influences, no more hazy judgement, but fully lucid - or on their way back to it - and completely in control. As someone who so often hung on and bowed to the wants and needs of others, A'ryx hated that wait, and all the opportunity it provided for worry. While he wasn't the sort who looked forward to Flights with eager anticipation, he was go-with-the-flow enough that, well, he'd been here a lot over the course of the past decade or so. Certainly enough to know that the mornings didn't always go well. Not that they often went poorly, but it did happen.

For a moment, he thought he might get lucky - not lucky lucky, but when the other man stirred and reached over to cuddle, A'ryx had hope that that was a good sign, and he was at least comfortable with everything that had happened. But then there was that slight but unmistakable pause, that distinct (albeit sleepy) look, and the arm that had slipped around him went away. There was a smile, at least, no panic or offense, so that did bode well. Sort of. He hoped. From the looks of it, they'd be pooling awkwardness.

The bronzerider returned the smile with one of his own, hesitant but warm, and nodded to the first statement before shaking his head at the next. "Not long," he answered, the early hour lending an edge of roughness to his soft voice, "And not uncomfortable. I hope I didn't wake you." He watched with dark eyes as the greenrider moved, giving them both a little more room. He didn't seem upset, but he was not at ease, either. Shards. And they were in A'ryx's weyr, which made him feel all the more responsible for his comfort and general wellbeing at this particular moment - but if he was the type to want space, he might not be amenable to that. Though the urge to stretch remained, it was again squashed, this time for the appearance of composure and attentiveness. "You...slept well, I hope?"

Concern laced the words, and was a very veiled way of asking whether or not he was...pleased. Or at least not displeased.

Well, the man seemed polite enough--that was a good sign. The dark-haired rider let himself slip into a small smile, reaching up to run fingers through his hair, and to pull the mussed locks out of his face. Some riders were keen on kicking their partners out as soon as dawn broke, so at least this one didn't seem particularly troubled. Given the blonde wasn't screaming, or fumbling to try to find some sort of way out of their situation was nice. He'd had some bad experiences as a greenrider of High Reaches, and his already gentle personality had learned to be on edge in these situations.

Especially when it came to riders of rank and of a particular type of dragon hide.

On the other hand, not every rider was one of those riders, and he could only hope that maybe this morning-after wouldn't end in tears or discomfort. "Good. I... I would have hated to have put you out by having fallen asleep here." He didn't have to point out that flights could be a strange thing. K'din had never been the most outgoing, and had always done better with animals than people. Even with his sociable Feyeth, he just wasn't the bravest, or most out going of individuals. And here he was, making this entire situation even worse.

Faranth help him, he was hopeless.

When the rider asked how he slept, K'din smiled, this time a bit more genuinely and a touch less shy. "I slept very well, thank you," he responded with a small, demure dip of his head. If his cheeks darkened he hoped the man was too sleepy to notice. He genuinely had had a nice time, but he didn't know whether or not he should mention as such, or if the bronzerider even cared one way or the other. It was just a flight. "....It was very nice."

Let the rider decide what that meant.

Another smile, that was good. A'ryx had to remind himself not to stare, when what he wanted was to watch like a hawk for any signs of discomfort or displeasure so that he could more readily correct or make amends for whatever might require it, but staring at someone was generally not conducive to their peace of mind. But he couldn't get a good read on him without looking at him, and there was really no subtle way to do that. He rather wished his hair were longer, right this moment. "Hardly. I don't take up so much space as all that." As a bronzerider, he merited a larger weyr than he really needed, save for room for Zijianth's things, and one other rider in his indulgently overlarge bed wasn't exactly a strain. How many would be was a question he was confident would go forever unanswered. "You're...welcome to as much of it as you like."

By which he meant, ah, the bed. Space on the bed? Space in general? His space? All...of...the above? Faranth, phrasing was so much harder this early in the morning, and color crept up into his own cheeks. Well. So. Here they were. Still. Which was fine - better than fine, since the alternative was the other man scrambling off in a hurry. So, awkwardness aside, this was all looking okay so far. As someone who very much tailored his words and actions according to cues from others, forever concerned with making sure they were happy, it was...a bit odd, actually, to have someone worried about putting him out, when he would in fact have abdicated his own weyr if the greenrider had wanted the privacy.

A'ryx mirrored both the smile and the dip of the head, not realizing he'd done so until after he'd done it, and allowing himself a self-conscious chuckle when he did. The two of them were perhaps just a bit similar, in some regards. He was glad, though, to hear that he had...slept well. "Is there, ah, anything you need?"

More space? Less space? Food? His clothes back from the floor? Him to not sound daft? He would oblige just about anything, and be happy to do so.
