It was strange how easily things change, how easily you could adapt to them. For C'ryn the young man had taken on the mantle of bronzerider, an official wingrider..No longer a weyrling. Graduation and placement into wings had taken some time as they all waited to graduate together. It didn't help that there had been two gold flights, he still couldn't wrap his mind around that fact, or the fact he had spent almost a seven day with Alumet in a hold away from the weyr.

He was probably still feeling a bit heady, the fact he had been able to lay with her like that combined with the feelings he felt for her...Of course he couldn't help but feel a bit guilty because of it knowing that, while she may returns his feelings in some way she was not ready to settle down and truth was neither was C'ryn.

All these thoughts had moved through the man's mind as he carried a stack of outdated weather reports. Dr'stan, one of his wingseconds, had tasked him with taking them to the records and archiving them where they needed to go. It was an easy task and he knew the wingsecond was giving it to him to get him more familiar with the record room and where things were kept.

Walking in though, C'ryn found himself wishing he had spent as much time in here during weyrling training as Alumet had, maybe he would feel comfortable in here. He was sure it wouldn't be too hard to find where everything was so, he sat the stack he held in his arms onto a table and moved to scan the room.

Everyone seems to run into K'ienn in the records room. I couldn't really think of another way to start it. Sorry!

Not one to delegate recordkeeping for his Trespassers, K'ienn was stationed in a comfortable chair updating the Wing's book with the latest Threadfall reports. Fair winds. Not too many serious injuries. His riders had flown very well, indeed. It made him smile, and unusually warmly so. A bonus or perk of some kind was definitely in order.

He glanced up at the young man who entered the records room, instantly masking all traces of the smile. It was C'ryn, the newest bronzerider in the fighting wings. K'ienn's favored weyrling from Uridith's last clutching. But a son belonged to his father... at least, when the father behaved like one. So he'd put a lot in for two of the brownriders, trusting that A'dras would claim his son. C'ryn ended up in the Harbingers instead. A shame.

"Afternoon, C'ryn," he said.

Eh, he spends enough time in there to be found fairly often. XD I am curious as to how their conversation is going to go!

It had never been expected that the Records room would be devoid of people, C'ryn knew there would be other Riders in there as well as archivists. He moved about like he belonged there, because he did after all, his eyes scanning the different shelves and ending up near a table that someone else was already seated at.

He knew exactly who the man was that was seated at the table. It was hard not to recognize the bronzerider after all, especially since C'ryn knew that Alumet had been friendly with him when they had still been weyrlings. It still felt a little strange to C'ryn that he was just a rung after the Wingleader, in the hierarchy. He had known this, known it would be like this when he graduated and yet...

"Afternoon Wingleader K'ienn." He managed to shift the paper he carried so he could salute before he placed them down on an empty spot of the table. "I hope if I work here I'm not bothering you. Wingsecond Dr'stan wants to get me more used to the records room, as well as entering records." What he was being groomed for still was probably obvious to both of them.

Oh, yes. K'ienn remembered what it was like to be a fresh bronze wingrider. From being a nobody, overlooked to the point of invisibility, to suffering a deluge of duties and expectations from every side--practically overnight. What C'ryn dealt with during weyrling training was nothing compared to what he could be handed by his Wingleader. K'voran, of course, had exercised his authority and personal expectations to the highest degree. There was no degree of separation, no respect or mercy required, from a father to his own son. The Trespassers' Wingleader held in a scoff at the memory. Maybe it was better for C'ryn to be under someone besides his own father, after all.

He returned C'ryn's salute with a slightly more relaxed version. Perhaps someday the boy would become a serious competitor, but at present, he was merely a greenhorn and no threat. Also... posturing would have spoiled his current good mood. He preferred to hold onto that positivity for a while, it being so rare for him these days. "It's no bother. If you need any assistance, feel free to speak up."

Once K'ienn had spoken and gave the okay for C'ryn to sit at the table as well a tension seemed to leave the young man's shoulders. He had been standing so stock straight and making himself appear as rigid as a board, it was a relief to just let that go. Maybe the man before him wasn't as bad as some of the stories he had heard.

Placing the hide on the table, C'ryn moved to grab the book he would be copying the information into. It was only when it was placed on the table and opened that he sat down and began to copy over the information from the hide, though he did lift his eyes a couple of times to glance at K'ienn. He couldn't help but wonder if he should ask the older bronzerider for some advice, it was clear that he was doing something right with how he had risen in the ranks, though perhaps asking for advice on affairs of the heart wasn't the best idea.

"Do you mind if...I ask you for some advice...sir?" There was a hint of nerves, more because C'ryn was not use to asking anyone but his father for advice. At least there he knew he wouldn't get looked at weird, rejected or laughed at. Of course what did it truly matter if K'ienn did not wish to offer advice, it would make sense after all. Why would you offer to give aid to someone who may very well be your rival at some point. C'ryn wasn't so full of himself to believe he was an equal to the older bronze rider, or even a threat to him, though he didn't have plans to just sit at the wayside and be a lackey either....

The older man settled back into his work, switching to another bound volume. There were several moments where pride filled his eyes as he flipped back through the minutes for some of the Trespassers’ recent meetings. He hadn’t had much choice as far as the roster was concerned, but he’d still ended up with a good group of riders. And they were his riders. Had K’voran ever felt this way about his wing? If he had, he’d hidden it well. But K’ienn doubted it. He couldn’t recall ever enjoying his time under that man’s vise-like dictatorship.

C’ryn’s occasional glances were noted, but he didn’t acknowledge them. He was long used to being stared at for any number of reasons, and if this boy actually wanted to say something to him, K’ienn was certain he had the stones to do it. And the young bronzer did not disappoint. K’ienn looked up at him when he spoke, neither smiling nor frowning. “Of course, C’ryn. Ask away.”
