It wasn't often that he got to be completely alone with Fianth. Krahsujunth was a near-constant presence—as he should be, Rixth reminded himself—and spending time with the two of them together made him feel like a very bulky and useless third wheel.

...which he was.

Rixth was nearly positive he could have asked for and been granted a little private time with the gold and her developing eggs, but he didn't want to be that bronze, pushing and demanding things that he had willingly given up. He had enough, by all accounts. The privilege of continuing his bloodline without the burden of making sure his issue didn't grow up to be the terrors of the sky. Rixth chuckled, his amusement tinging the greeting he sent ahead of his actual arrival.

Fianth, the most charming gold in the weyr. Are you free for a moment?

Sorry for the delay!

Fianth was, by all accounts, pleased with how things had been. She had finally given into the need and had given quite the chase over High Reaches Weyr. Though her hearts had yearned for Krahsujunth, and the blue had put on a fantastic performance, instinct had won the day. As much as she might have longed for Krahsujunth, she had plenty of suitable suitors to pick from--and Yisketh had not been one of them.

While a small part of the queen was offended that the bronze had not shown to give chase--the first time since she'd begun to fly-- another part of her had been relieved. It had meant Krah had not sustained any more wounds, and that a certain rider had not found his way back into her riders bed. Honestly, as far as Fianth was concerned, Yisketh's lack of presence only seal the nail in the coffin. Surely, if the bronze had cared at all, he would have been there come hell or high water. But he'd failed, and his rider had failed, and the queen could only take sweet satisfaction from such a loss.

Besides.

As soon as any other queen rose, she was certain Yisketh and K'ienn would be there panting like the dogs they were. Fools, both of them. And to think she'd wasted her precious youth on them. To think she had been so blind, so foolish, so utterly stupid to have thought either of them cared. A sliver of bitter anger rose within her, but the queen quickly pushed the thoughts aside.

Why waste thoughts on them? The best thing Yisketh had given her were a few solid clutches....but he was not the only capable bronze in the Weyr. In fact, she had the pick of the litter during her fight, and in a moment's passion she had let herself be caught by a dragon of new blood. An outsider. Perhaps it was just as well, given how prominent Eveleth's blood ran through the Weyr. No, the bronze dragon had been alluring, different, and entirely capable.

He might not have been Krahsujunth, but he had been a safe bet for Fianth. She had not expected the bronze to linger, but was also pleased that he had enough duty within him to wish to see the clutch through to its Hatching. Yes, he was of proper blood, of proper color, and that, she knew, would suit High Reaches Weyr, and Eveleth most importantly, just fine. Even now, she knew a clutch was growing within her.... and that was something Rixth could well be proud of, regardless of what happened. Honestly, the bronze dragon was turning out to be as sweet as she could have hoped. He had stepped aside for Krahsujunth, and even would be happy to give up the title of father. It was endearing, really, and Fianth could not help but be doubly pleased by her choice.

Her risk was paying off exceptionally well. The only thing left to see was how her new beloved babies might turn out. The gold's eyes whirled a happy purple-blue at the thought, any anger or distress quickly snuffed out as she forgot about her past, and instead, focused on her future. Onward and upward, as they said.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a voice reached out to her. Speak of the devil. She caught the sliver of amusement in his words, and let her eyes turn a bright blue in response. Ah, Rixth... most sweet and eloquent of bronzes. I am quite free. Might you like to join me upon my ledge a while? Krahsujunth is away with his Wing so you shall suffer no repercussions, I assure you. Not that she'd let the rough blue pick on the bronze too much. Krahsujunth was fierce, but she had chosen Rixth, and as long as the bronze behaved, there was no reason for any hostility. So far, the foreign bronze had been quite kind and more than accommodating.
