Melicath watched the grass sway back and forth while he thought about the past.

Melicath was a hunter it was what he knew and what he did. He was traveling the planes one day when he had come across a number of foxes living in the forests. He observed them for a long time and noticed a few times that he was being observed back. Finally after several weeks of playing the stalker he approached the tribe and ended up being brought to the elder. Melicath had to admit to himself the elder didn’t look like much given his little feminine frame and lack of important present. Melicath actually had though the girl in green behind him was the real leader until told otherwise. It seemed they had been watching him for his hunting skill and wanted him to join their tribe. In truth Melicath didn’t care if he joined the tribe or not but he was comfortable in this land so he joined so that way he wouldn’t have to leave and find a new hunting spot. He quickly had become part of the day shift hunters that feel asleep as soon as the sun was down. He didn’t care for all the nocturnal ravings or whatever went on. He did begin to attend the vigil’s more and more though. Those he found interesting. He also had let the female vampire Astharoshe Asran feed from him a few times. She didn’t’ eat all that much given her size. He found the vixen Seth far more annoying with her bouncing ways. If she was around he wanted to leave or at least not have to deal with her. He didn’t regret saying yes back then. Joining the tribe had been an easy choice and living here was also an easy choice though Melicath was thinking of finding a mate and settling down. It was hard to think of the foxes in the tribe with any sense of romance. So he might have to take a little trip if he wanted to start a family.

Shaking his head just a bit he stopped dreaming about the past and took a look at some tracks that were foreign to him. He had memorized most of the tribe foxes and these didn’t belong to any of them. It seemed there was a stranger to Eventide lands. Melicath had noticed tracks like these growing in frequency and of varying age. This was troubling he muttered under his breath and turned back toward the tribe. This was silly he had found more stranger tracks so now he had to go back and report it. He had been told it would be ill advised to track the strangers alone as they could be a hostile fox. A half snarl curled his lip. He wasn’t fearful of a fight and had been in enough in the past. He felt like he was running away. It felt wrong. He picked up his pace feeling his heckles rise. He could feel invisible eyes burrowing into his head. It was just his mind he knew but now that he had a home he was feeling territorial and didn’t feel like losing it. On his way he ended up running into Seth. Just a perfect perch to his already flighty day. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes or sigh.

To his surprise she wasn’t bouncing or making corny jokes. In fact she had come out to investigate the tracks he had been reporting back. Turning he showed her the latest set. He watched as she smelled carefully and sized the tracks to her own paws and seemed to be studying them intently. Melicath had never seen this side of her. He was more in shock at her then the track. She told him these matched tracks that Armily had reported a few days ago near the glade. But there were others that hadn’t matched. So the was likely multiple strangers. Seth actually seemed concerned and asked Melicath to keep and eye out and not to go out alone if he could help it. Should he encounter others then he should hide himself unless he was certain it was safe to approach. This was actual sound advice. He started at her for a bit before telling her he would keep it in mind. He also asked where she had been hiding her brain all this time. She laughed at him before turning to head back to his tribe. He thought perhaps he might have to reevaluate where she had been placed in his opinion.

Well perhaps this was more serious then it seemed after all it wasn’t all long ago that Armily and the twins had joined. Perhaps this was simply more of that? It seemed like it was a chance. Though the dead carcasses that they had also found in the forest that were wasteful seemed like less a lost fox and more a cruel fox or a foolish one. both were options. Shaking his head hard he shook out all of those thoughts. They didn’t matter. He was a hunter and that was what he was out here to do. he would keep the stealth approach for now and take another fox hunting latter on future trips. He was surprised Seth hadn’t insisted he come back with her and go out hunting in a group perhaps she hadn’t thought about it? OH well her loss. Smiling he crouched low and started to move through the plains. He had some game to find and it wasn’t going to wait for him. He began at a slow pace and ignored the tracks as he moved not caring if they were destroyed or not he wasn’t hunting down the intruders jus yet though when he did a part of him hoped they wanted a fight so he could snap and crush them.

The day slowly dragged on and Melicath’s hunt was successful though only for short and small game. He found a wasted and bloated carcass of a deer that had been killed and left to rot. Such waste. The intruder who did this needed to be taught a lesson.
