At last, Eriath knew she could fly no more. She roared out once, both defiant and despairing before she folded her wings and allowed herself to plummet. Instinctively, she reached for the male that had managed to match her furious pace, her claws seeking to seize his own... Decisively, she snatched at Meigth, her lightly amused thoughts suddenly aflame with passion and desire.

--

His attention was suddenly jerked away from his present suitors, staring up at the sky with an unfocused look. Somewhere, deep the recesses of his mind, he groaned loud and long to himself... but that part of him was currently swallowed by need. If he wasn't wrong, someone would be coming.

He doubted he was wrong.

--

((Eriath has been caught by bronze Meigth! His score was one off of hers, and she would not stop shrieking about a few boys in particular. Thank you so much for participating! I really appreciate it and had a blast. <3))

Eriath didn't have to reach far. The slightest indication that she wanted him - needed him - caused Meigth to twist as the lovely green dropped, grabbing her up without hesitation. He'd known she was for him, and didn't question if he'd perhaps snagged her out of the arms of another. His far too easily came upon thoughts easily snaked around the fires of Eriath's mind and found a secure place to root themselves.

Meigth allowed her flame to spread through the senses and with her secured, another strong beat of his wings sent them off and away.

----

N'ori reeled as Meigth's catch - the fires that stirred up from it - spread into his mind. It was a feeling he'd fought off often when he'd had two boys underfoot...but tonight he didn't, and as much as the logical part of his mind knew the man would have stirred me choice words for him the next morning....tonight he would go on the hunt, down into the Weyr for a familiar dark haired man.

He was on the chase, and he'd get what he hunted for. Tomorrow would be a problem for then.

As Eriath dropped with her chosen mate, Caiprith wheeled overhead, venting his frustration with a roar that resounded through the bowl. His strategy had failed; his bid came too late. He was so out of practice that he’d overestimated the green’s stamina. Again he bellowed, the passionate tones of his eyes mingling with furious shades of red and orange at his own failure as he fled to lake and plunged himself into the water.

Having those exquisitely keen eyes steadfastly fixed on hers felt like some eccentric brand of torture. Her personal policies included debarring relations with any employee, past or present, under any and all circumstance. At the moment, however, she found herself appreciating things about Grumioll that she’d never noticed before. More than once, she caught herself mentally tracing the lines of his neck and admiring the sharply-etched collarbones that peeked out from under his shirt. Her speech became oddly punctuated with short silences as she drifted off midway through a sentence and then, with an internal moment of shock at her own thoughts, continued on as if nothing were amiss. The boy, of course, would have no idea of any of this. He was… remarkably innocent.

She could have screamed, but instead she laughed when the flight was over and Caiprith finally began to calm down. She felt the brown recoil, looking at her with mortified indignation through their bond. Why are you laughing at me? he whined.

I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing at myself. Even as she responded to her dragon, she said the words aloud to Grumioll, who’d asked the same exact question, word for word. Neither of them understood, of course.

And it was going to stay that way.
