[PRP] Calculating Clutches (Dehka + Orri)

Both golds were due to lay their eggs any day now, and the candidates were abuzz with excitement. Dehka, naturally, was among them--but he'd chosen to channel his energy into other ways. They boy had carefully poured over past clutch records, recording the information there so he could make averages of not only clutch size, but dragon color. He was already hard at work, sitting by himself in the barracks as he poured over numbers.

"So..." He mumbled to himself, chewing on the end of his tool. "Between Rhianth's three clutches, she had an average of twenty-two to twenty-three eggs... She's never had a gold though, even with one of those clutches being sired by a bronze... Fianth though--she's had two golds out of her five clutches, but her average is slightly lower; twenty-one to twenty-two eggs..."

Dehka sat back with a sigh, leaning back to stare up at the ceiling. So many young dragons on the sands... It'd be even more chaotic than a normal hatching. With luck, everyone would remember themselves, and it would be a calm, happy event. He hadn't been able to visit the clutch that had been out on the island, but he'd heard that things had gone well there! Well. On the part of the dragons.

The candidates, apparently, hadn't behaved... Dehka was a little worried that he might be one of them. This would be his first Hatching, after all!

Being a Candidate was a great honor, Orri would be the first to absolutely shout that from the tops of the Seven Sisters--but sometimes it was just. so. boring. This hour he was delivery boy, after having helped clean some of the weyrs and studied up on the more important dragonriders of the weyr, and none of it had been particularly fun. He was to bring reports to someone in the records room and then ask if they needed help organizing any others, as there had been a small surge right after the goldflights. Sigh.

But then again: Eggs. Dragonets. Maybe in a few weeks he'd be meeting his better half! It was his only succor to the endless waiting in the meantime.

He was looking about for someone important-looking through the pile of scrolls in his arms when he heard the tail-end of someone's mumbling--and it perked his interest. Orri was still somewhat new to High Reaches and didn't know the history of the golds in question; he hadn't even considered he could be looking these things up in his free time. "Probability of this being interesting: pretty high, right?" he said with a smile.
