It was a fine day to die; the sun was warm, the sky was clear, the wind was refreshing. Sunna had just returned to her den with a bright smile and her braided bark-fibre bag full of herbs to dry. Her paws were a little browner today than normal, being covered in mud from the marsh where she had been collecting her plants. She made a mental note to make a trip down to the ocean to wash her paws once she had put away her collection.

After neatly laying out every item and arranging them to her satisfaction, Sunna picked her way down to the edge of where the stream was still saltwater. She dipped her paws carefully into the rushing water and rubbed them against the rocks on the streambed to work loose the drying mud. She noticed rather suddenly that she could smell another lion over the scent of salt and glanced around, a little nervously. She was still in her pride's lands but Sunna was not a fighter, and the lion could very well be a rogue looking to challenge their way in. She caught sight of a familiar burgundy pelt and it's accompanying fiery mane and tail and relaxed. They hadn't been formally introduced but at least she knew there was no danger. Sunna returned to washing her paws, but kept one ear swivelled in his direction and paid close attention as the male grew closer in case he wanted to start up a conversation.

SO many changes, the male was glad his sister had left. Though at the same time, he missed her a great deal. While he had his other twin there, he had been closer to slivka so with her gone there was a void in his heart and it was likely reflected in his eyes. Still, he was truly happy she didn't have to suffer through the changes this pride was going through, particularly towards it's females.

Soft gaze fell upon the pale female with skull markings and she seemed familiar, he felt as though he'd seen her around, just never had a chance to speak to her before.

Guess he was going to change that now.

"It's a good day to die." Average greeting to start with as he got close enough to speak in soft tones with her.

"What do you think about the current situation within the pride?" He knew plenty of females who were taken aback by the changes and he was curious to know how she felt about the whole thing. He agreed with them, they shouldn't be seen lesser, but he wasn't warlord so he really didn't have a say.

"A good day, indeed," Sunna responded with a dip of her head. She mulled over the male's question for a moment before replying. "I've never felt the desire to lead a Warband so I'm not particularly upset about being told I can't. Though I can't say I'm very fond of the reasoning. And what say you on the changes?"

In truth, Sunna had never had the desire for fighting or Viking and had never wanted to become a Reaver or Captain. She was far from flower-blooded; in fact, she was a capable combatant with a fiery spirit. She just wasn't interested in a warrior's life, opting instead to pursue the life of a priestess.

She was, however, incredibly displeased with hearing she was "less" because of her gender or her rogue blood. This newcomer Warlord of theirs clearly didn't know his pride very well if he thought females were any "less" of anything. But, she held her tongue for the time being, at least publicly.

"I don't believe we've been formally introduced. I am Sunnbein."

Truly becoming a captain would be something his father would have wanted for all of his son's but it had never been Milas's ambition in life, though perhaps he would become a law speaker one day? It seemed more of the type of role he could find himself getting comfortable in.

Giving a nod towards her response he gave a shrug of his shoulders, "I've never much been one for wanting to take things for my own. They really don't affect me as much as it does the female's within our lands. I feel as though everyone should be treated as equals, or at least held to the same standards. But I'm also from outside of the pride and part of my youth was spent mixed among other races, all treated as equal."

It was true he yearned for those old times, the simpler one's, but life was what it was and he wasn't going to leave while his mother was still here within the lands. "Your name suits you Sunnbein, my name is Milas."

Sunna nodded heartedly at Milas' response. In her eyes, there were no grounds to the new Warlord's statement that females couldn't do the same jobs as males; after all, plenty of the pride's females had already been doing it and proved themselves just as capable. If someone could do something, why not let them?

"Hear, hear. I couldn't agree with you more," she responded. Then, "Yes, I'd heard you were originally from outside the pride. My mother was as well, though my siblings and I were born here. I sometimes wonder what it would be like elsewhere, but not so much as to find out."

Sunna smiled at Milas' comment. "Thank you; it's sweet of you to say." She nodded in acknowledgement of his name. "Well met, Milas."

He wondered how he'd never really seen her around much until recently, it was likely just the way fate worked out.

Rising an eyebrow he smiled, "You've heard correctly. We were brought here as young cubs, not long after our birth, when we were able to travel. Our mother followed along after us so she's here as well." Though he wasn't sure where she was these days, he hadn't been keeping tabs on her and felt a little bad about not having seen her in a bit.

"You're not really missing a whole lot, the world is very large and some places are a lot meaner than others. Though there are also some very nice places as well." It all depended on where someone ended up on if you got to see the good or the bad.

"Given the new changes, what do you see yourself doing?"

Sunna wondered briefly if Milas' mother was also a Thrall, but bit her tongue against the question. It was doubtful. Most lions and lionesses that came to the Stormborn challenged their way in, and were awarded the status of Freeborn. Her mother had had the same choice, but unfortunately, no desire to fight. So she had agreed to be "captured" and spend her life in "servitude" to her "master", Sunna's father, Tryggr. The only happy thing these changes had brought about - in Sunna's eyes - was her mother's existence in the pride being recognized for what it truly was - she was now known publicly as Tryggr's Wife, as she had always secretly been, not his slave, as she had pretended to be.

Shaking her head as if shaking off the thought, Sunna listened to Milas' comments about the outside world. She smiled brightly and teasingly responded.

"How positively vague and neutral. My curiosity shall be forever sated." The smirk on her lips was nothing next to the laughter in her eyes.

"The changes really don't affect my plans; I've always sought to be a Priestess. I've been an apprentice since adolescence and my training is completed, but I still have to wait to be welcomed as a full Priestess." Sunna herself wasn't sure what the holdup was. Perhaps there could only be so many Priestesses at once? Perhaps they were expecting some divine sign? Either way, she was happy to continue bettering her skills while she waited. "What about you, Milas? What future do you see for yourself here?"

He would have to meet her parents one of these days, he was familiar with the names so tracking them down in the future wouldn't be an issue. The side of his mouth curled in a smirk, eyes twinkling as he looked over towards her and gave a bow of his head.

"It was my pleasure, I'm glad I could be of service to you." If she truly wanted to know any of what he recalled of his youth he'd be more than happy to share it with her but until then those memories were his and his siblings.

"Sun, did I mention I had 9 brothers and sisters. 10 if you include myself." The thought was on his mind for a moment and he'd figure he'd see how she reacted to hearing that he came from a very large family. This wasn't siblings from different litters, this was from one, very large litter.

His poor mother.

"Oh that's wonderful to hear then. I hope you're able to wear the title proudly here soon." Giving her as much reassurance as he could. At her question he pondered on it for a moment. "I want to be a law speaker, though I may end up a reaver before that ever happens." Not by his own doing of course, blood had a way of getting you to do things you weren't really fond of sometimes.

Sunna smiled and shook her head, all in good fun of course. Had she known Milas better, perhaps she would have given him a good-natured shoulder- or hip-check. Alas, it was a little too early in her eyes, and her ear twitched with slight awkwardness at just the thought of how poorly that might be received.

"No, I don't think you had." Sunna cocked her head in mild curiosity. She was aware of Milas' sister - twin, actually, if she recalled correctly - but hadn't known there were any others. "Are they all here with you?"

Sunna's surprise was entirely based on how she hadn't noticed the other eight siblings, provided they were in the pride. Large families didn't scare her - she loved her family, and would love even more to be part of a huge brood. Or have one of her own someday. Besides, as far as impressive family ties went, Sunna was the granddaughter of a god.

"Thank you," Sunna responded with a warm smile. Milas was turning out to be quite the sweetheart. "Well, your experience as a Reaver may help you be a better Lawspeaker in the end."

To think he'd been considering leaving the pride at one point, and never coming back. Had he done that, he never would have met Suuna and he was quite certain his life would be less because if he had done just that. Pushing such thoughts aside he smiled.

"mmmmh. I'm pretty sure everyone is still in the pride." If he was being completely honest it had been a minute since he'd seen some of his family members.

As she added her own view to his earlier comment he was able to see it from a different perspective and perhaps she was right, maybe if he did end up a reaver first it would bode well for him in the future when he took the path of Law Speaker. "Thank you, I wouldn't have thought to think about it that way."

She'd make a good Priestess with a mindset like that, they couldn't go wrong with a choice like Sunna.

"Would you mind if I walked you home? It's getting late."

"You'll have to arrange some introductions sometime," Sunna smiled. Odd, she thought silently to herself, that the comment was actually genuine, and not just a pleasantry. While she was never outwardly rude, Sunna was known to be generally aloof among her pride members; friendly enough, but without getting invested or close to people. That was the way she preferred things. Usually.

Sunna's smile regained a hint of its impish smirk as she replied, "Now it's my turn to be glad to provide service." She finished the comment with a playful wink.

"Mind? Of course not. In fact, I think I'd rather like it." Milas really was sweet. As the two turned to pad off in the direction of Sunna's den, she lightly bumped her flank against Milas' - gentle enough that it could be played off as an accident, a very deliberate move on the part of generally-no-touching and unaffectionate Sunna.

As she spoke he went expressionless for a brief moment, having to track down all of his siblings wouldn't be THAT hard to do, but still, it would pose a bit of a challenge as the pride was rather large. Which was surprising enough.

"I'll be sure to do that then." Smiling at her he was thrilled that she wanted his company, even if it was nothing more than an escort.

Following alongside her, he nudged her back playfully as they disappeared into the distance.
