[Nyx Queen of Darkness]

Aldrovanda had been studying hard about everything medicinal that he could find. He'd never been very good at the stuff, but it was one of the most ardent desires of his heart to become an effectual healer. Sometimes it seemed the fates were against him. He knew that others looked at him with pity, commented in whispers about how inept he was. But he could not stop trying, if he did he'd be no better than they'd said.

But it was hard to go on in the face of adversary when he felt each error so keenly. This was to be an easy recipe to calm an ailing stomach. He looked for what he remembered to be some kind of leaf that was supposed to soothe the digestive system. He couldn't recall the name exactly, but these looked like it if his memory served him well.

Water Fairy flitted about finding some soothing aloe leaves to be made into a cooling salve. He took several leaves of it and ground them up into a fine paste. He combined it with some lard and mint. It was meant to be applied to the chest and neck to relieve symptoms of a cold.

He noticed as he put his paste into a container that the leaves that Aldrovanda were using were not peppermint. He almost said as much, but his poor friend had been having a rough time lately. The leaves didn't appear to be too bothersome if they were ingested

Aldrovanda filled a bucket with cool, fresh spring water. It was rich with minerals. He used it to steep the leaves that he was using. A pungent aroma floated on the steam. It didn't smell like he remembered it, but it did smell good..

When the steeping was done, he attempted to pour the hot mixture into an earthenwar jar he had acquired. But he had not thought to let the pot cool. He screeched loudly as he dropped the concoction half of it spilling in the jar and half all over the ground.

Water fairy rushed to him, to check an make sure he was alright. He had a slight burn on his lip but nothing too terrible at least. It'd blister some more than likely but, it was not as serious as it could have been. Taking some of the aloe he had left over, he applied it to the burn admonishing Aldrovanda not to lick his lips until it dried in a bit.

After a few more fretful minutes, Water Fairy flitted off to find some berries that he needed. When he returned, he discovered that his concoction of lard, mint, and aloe was gone.

Aldrovanda made his way to the Forgemaster and gladly turned over the medicine he'd made. It seemed more gelatinus that it should be, but it had likely just thickened as it cooled. The Forgemaster looked suspicious but downed the concocture in one gulp after Aldrovnda reassured him it was a tried and true recipe.

The Forgemaster's face turned a horrible shade of green. Snatching up a coin as payment while the Forgemaser retched into grass he fled before he could be chased.
