Maybe this was some sort of restitution for all the turmoil that Menankith had had to feel from her for- well, since the very beginning. Every moment of uncertainty, of anxiety, as she learned just who she was and who she wanted to be, and how to get from the one to the other. And the pining for a particular someone, not to mention all the confusion and stress she'd felt over Flights and certain activities, which at the time he hadn't quite understood. Now he did, and a little too well. Worse, he'd condensed his emotional turbulence into just a couple of sevendays, which only made the extremes of it that much more pronounced.It tempered some of her own highs and did no favors for her worry over the unfamiliar territory she found herself in. While she was sure he had the strength and resolve - and support - to get through it, he needed time, and meanwhile, she was sharing headspace with heartsickness and a guilty conscience. If she could just fix it for him...but it didn't work that way. But she did her best to help soothe him, and tried to keep herself steady at the same time. Oh, she was happy about the developments in her own life at least, very happy indeed, but she couldn't help but worry.
Right in the beginnings of a new relationship (and her very first, as it happened) that was in some ways more like three - there was the trio of them all together, but they were each an individual - was not the best timing to be swimming in so many extra emotions from her dragon. It took a conscious effort sometimes to not be moody, or at least not let it show.
She'd spent plenty of time with C'lusi over the last turn, and while most of it had been in the context of weyrling training, that was still far, far more time than she'd spent with R'shahar. They'd hardly so much as met properly before he'd found her in the midst of Neiveth's Flight and swept her up and off to his weyr to join him and C'lusi, and. Well. She might not have known him before, except to know how very handsome he was, and to imagine how wonderful he doubtless was, if he had caught the charming bluerider, but now? She'd never expected to know him as more than an acquaintance, but now...she sort of did. They'd rather skipped a few steps, going from strangers to lovers and then to a date.
But for all that it was new and out of order, she was terribly intrigued, and even within this short time, found herself not only powerfully attracted, but growing attached. Maybe more than just attached. Was that...fast? Too fast? Could she be letting wishful thinking run away with her? But the fluttering of her heart, the tightness in her chest, were all too familiar, and felt just as real. In many respects, she barely knew him, but...
But there it was. Regardless, if any of this was going to work, they did need to get to know each other, in the more conventional sense. And not just as a set, all three of them together, but on an individual basis. So. Here that went. Not quite as formal or official a date as the tea party had been, but easily just as important. Maybe not even quite a date, technically, just a...getting-to-know-you. Not that that had reduced the fussing over what she should wear, which had ultimately turned out to be an outfit of pale pinks and blues. Soft and pretty and hopefully not too blue (most of her clothes really were at least a little).
