- ■ Whitney struggled somewhat with any lesson that didn't have a strong practical element, due to his Deafness. He was accommodated in all his courses, obviously, but it was easy for him to lean on his inability to hear as a crutch in classes he didn't find engaging. He tended to drift off a lot in this class, both because of boredom and because of the hour. He passed his exam, but only just.
xxxCHARMS ~ EExxx
- ■ Whit found this class useful, if not particularly interesting. He's not the best at wandwork, but Charms was easy enough and so he did fairly well in the class. He did struggle somewhat with pronunciation, but that was only a mild handicap. For the most part, he was able to get by silently, but the more difficult the spell, the harder it was to pull off.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Axxx
- ■ Like Charms, Whit had some trouble with any particularly difficult spells, due to having to work on pronunciation without being able to actually hear. He also doesn't have the best temper, and got easily frustrated when he failed in this class. He struggled more with this course than with any of his other wandwork lessons, and was honestly only saved by the fact that his wand works more readily with silent magic than most.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ EExxx
- ■ Whit was surprisingly good at this class; he occasionally ran into trouble due to not paying close enough attention to the instructions, but for the most part he found it easy. Being able to focus on a task where sound was not a factor was nice for him, and he actually found he enjoyed working with the plants.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Axxx
- ■ Like Astronomy, Whit's performance in this class fell victim to his lack of attention. He grew up with enough knowledge of the magical world to breeze through with passing marks, even if they were only barely passing. It wasn't high on his priority list, so he tended to let his attention wander. Considering he couldn't listen to the lecture while distracted like most students, this did affect his grade poorly.
xxxPOTIONS ~ EExxx
- ■ Like Herbology, Whit did well here because his Deafness wasn't a factor in how well he performed. He struggled only with this patience, which wasn't always the best. However, he found it interesting, and following directions was simple enough, so he did well in the course overall.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ EExxx
- ■ Whit wasn't particularly good at this course, but he did get more practice in it than he did in Defense, thanks to his involvement with the drama club. His struggles were mostly limited to pronunciation issues, which he was able to work on with his best friend. The math aspect wasn't overly difficult for him, at least, so he had a better starting point than simply relying on his will.

- ■ Whit's not really an art person exactly; he's creative, but his creativity is more with words than with images. He did well enough in this course thanks to the drama club, since helping out with sets and the like gave him a lot of technical skill, but he didn't pay attention as closely as he could have and lacked the dedication to really flourish.
xxxCARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES ~ EExxx
- ■ Whit's always had a soft spot for animals. Being an older sibling, he's well-versed in having to be a caretaker for someone who doesn't want to listen and doesn't understand why they should. He actually thinks taking care of animals is easier most of the time. His one failing is that he can't hear the creatures when they're sneaking up on him, and they startle him easily, which can cause issues. But, he's used to dealing with that, and has adapted well to it.
xxxCURSEBREAKING ~ Axxx
- ■ Whit mostly took this course because it sounded interesting. That said, he wasn't very good at it. He did well enough to pass, but only just barely, and only because his best friend helped him study. He didn't want to know what would happen to him if he failed a class.
xxxMUSIC ~ Oxxx
- ■ It seems weird, since Whit is Deaf, but music is his best class. It's always been his passion, mostly out of sheer stubbornness. He doesn't take well to being told something isn't for him or that he can't do it, so of course he gravitated to the one thing everyone thinks is impossible for him to achieve. He takes his studies in this area very seriously, and does everything he can to succeed.
xxxWANDLORE STUDIES ~ Axxx
- ■ Again, this was more taken out of curiosity than anything else. Whit finds the class somewhat interesting, but not enough to pay attention all the time. Certainly not enough to memorize all the woods and cores and their respective meanings. He did well enough to pass, but only barely.
