Sarina sniffed some of the plants in front of her, trying to see if they were something they could use as ingredients in potions. Unfortunately they didn't have the right properties, so she had to continue to look for them. She took a look back at her Witch-King to see if he was having any success himself. This was the first time they had gone to gather supplies and so far they hadn't been able to find too much. The entire situation was still a bit weird to her. Just a bit ago she had been working by herself as a Norther witch when Luanistyn Cian had found her and had invited her to be a part of his herd.

While she had been perfectly fine by herself, she was continually bothered by those who thought she practiced in black magic because of her looks, and she had been chased away from many places. When joining the herd, she hoped that wouldn't be the case anymore. That others would finally leave her alone to do her work.

She sighed. She felt a bit nervous with someone else around. She had never looked for ingredients while there was someone else in the vicinity. She supposed she would just have to get used to it. She put down the basket and turned towards the Witch-King. "You find anything over there?" She asked, hoping he had better luck than she did. She had never been here before. If they were up North still where she had been she could easily point out any ingredient half a mile away. Here though? She was still trying to remember what they used.

The noonday sun glistened brightly in the sky. Its rays, brilliant and golden, set the world alight. There was not a cloud to be seen for miles around. The wind had settled down at last, leaving the area calm and silent. These were perfect weather conditions for gathering. Amidst the various foliage and potential ingredients stood Luanistyn Cian. His head inclined ever so slightly towards the sky, his eyes closed, he gave the impression of one deep in contemplation. And so he was, in fact. How long has it been now? He wondered silently. A week? That seemed about right. The coven would have sent for him if they had been gone longer than intended. His son knew the gathering of herbs and items would take an extended amount of time. It was no easy task, especially when in a new realm. As such, they had settled upon two weeks. Two weeks comprised of just a few days of travel with the rest of their time spent examining the native flora. This should be sufficient enough time to replenish their stores while also affording them the opportunity to learn what this land had to offer the coven. Even if it were not rich in ingredients for their practices, it might be plentiful in other ways. Luan intended to unlock the land’s secrets before he and his new herd member departed within the next few days.

Hearing the soft voice of his fellow, the Witch King slowly let his eyes drift open. He turned his head to meet her gaze, giving a faint shake of his head. “Not as of yet,” he smiled warmly at her. “Though that does not mean there is nothing here. We must be patient, Sarina. This land is not normally given to revealing its secrets, especially to strangers such as us. Give it time to learn us as we learn it. I am certain it will reveal what we seek in due course.” His baritone voice was soothing and kind, neither chastising or impatient. The mare was young yet and well-accustomed to her former land’s habits. She still had to perfect the art of listening to the song and custom of all the lands upon which they trod…as many in his coven needed. It was a delicate art. One which took patience and a willingness to heed the whispers of the world. Yet he did not doubt the abilities of his coven’s members. They, as with Sarina, had taken the first steps of their own accord in choosing the art of witchcraft as their lives’ calling. Luan knew in his heart they would come to know the Ways of Olde in fullest depth given time, proper guidance and attention.

Emerald green orbs stared at the young witch curiously. It was obvious to Luan that she had not yet shaken the nervousness which welled when near others. His features softened as he nodded towards her basket, “I see you have had as much luck as I. This land is truly a stubborn one, is it not?” He chuckled jovially, sensing a sort of playfulness in this land.

Sarina wanted to growl at him, but instead only let out a sigh. She knew that they had to be patient, they had to learn the land before it would show them what they wanted. And then they would have to learn how to take their needed ingredients carefully, in a way that wouldn't destroy. She just... wasn't used to this place. All that she knew of was back in those snowy mountains. She didn't feel comfortable here, and it bothered her. "You're right. I'm just uneasy right now. Being in a strange realm, one that isn't covered in snow. I'm not able to feel at peace yet." She tried not to sound brusque, but she was used to her old environment still. It had required a certain level of ferocity.

And Oberon wasn't by her side either. The sarcasm from the owl would have been both annoying and appreciated right now. But he had stayed behind, claiming that he had a broken toe.

She knew that he just wanted to stay where there would definitely be food available. The lazy owl, she wanted to roll her eyes at the thought, but instead decided to remain on task. She snapped her head at him when he chuckled, wanting to glare, but instead looked a bit worn out. "Well, at least we're both learning about this place. Though it would be easier if we had one who knew the land well. But... it's interesting being able to learn the land by ourselves with no guidance." Suddenly she remembered the other mare that was supposed to be with them.

'Speaking of, where did Rowena go?" She said, almost muttering it to herself. They were all in a realm of mystery, she didn't want any of them getting lost.

----------------------------------------------------

The pawed mare had gotten distracted by some flowers that she had seen along the way, and had forgotten to tell the others about them. She hadn't been here for long, but to be able to travel like this, with members of her new herd, it was too exciting! And well, she had collected a lot of "junk" along the way. Mostly pretty flowers or different types of plants that she had never seen before. She couldn't help it though, she wanted to keep some memory of what she had seen here with her! She would make sure to store some, and see what she could do with the others.

She gently set the current cluster of flowers that she had carefully picked into her basket, and took a look around. She panicked a bit when she realized that Cian and Sarina were no longer in her line of sight, and she quickly picked up her basket and followed the movements that she could see in the ground, eventually catching up to them.

They seemed to have stopped for the moment, and she was happy that she hadn't gotten lost. She padded up to them, and set her basket down when she was close. "Sorry! I just found some flowers that I wanted to take back and well, I lost track of the two of you." She said, a sheepish look on her face and her tail swinging around nervously. She looked at the baskets the other two had and her face turned into a small frown. "Still haven't found anything? This land seems to want to keep it's secrets." She said, trying to puzzle it out. What exactly did this place want them to do?

Luanistyn smiled understandingly at his herd member. He remembered well the unease which seeped into him when he was young. Encountering new realms and individuals was no easy task for some. He had been the same then, until he learned how to channel that unease elsewhere through his art. “It is not easy, moving on from something which we have grown accustomed to,” he inclined his head. “We mold ourselves to fit the world around us, so that we might better acclimate ourselves. Changing from one place to another so swiftly often leaves one with a feeling of unease. Why do you think that is, Sarina?” The regal stallion glanced over at her. Tilting his head to one side, he stared curiously, awaiting her response. He had asked this same question of others. His curiosity piqued as to what they might say. For him, the change unsteadied others because it forced them to seek a newness within as well. They could not utilize their old tricks and methods but, rather, were made to alter them or create new ones to suit their new realm. It would be the same for any region, for any Soquili or being. The simple fact, the one immutable law was this- the world never stopped morphing and changing. With that came the requirement for its inhabitants to do the same, to adapt to their environment to the best of their ability.

His gaze still meeting hers, he waited until she would finish her description before addressing the rest of her statements. “We all learn the land in our time. While, yes, it would be easier to have a guide through this area, it would not be nearly as fun nor as informative.” He drew in a breath then let it out slowly. His hoof pawed at the ground, not disturbing the earth but gently caressing its surface. “I feel the trickery that resides in this land. It is a land that wishes to give to only those who deserve it. So it shall not reveal its secrets easily. Rather, we must strive to appease it and show we are worthy of its gifts. How we do so…that is the question we must ask ourselves, especially since we do not have much time to devote to a ritual or things of that nature. Perhaps if we were to locate a rare herb, that might be sufficient?” The last he spoke more to himself than to Sarina, though he would happily accept any input she might give. His thoughts on the matter were interrupted, however, by the mare asking after the third individual in their party.

Glancing about, Luan gave a short chortle, amused that he had not noticed Rowena’s absence. “It seems the land likes to use distraction as a trick,” he mused. The stallion was concerned for her safety, of course, but that did not stop him from seeing the lighter side of the situation. As it would happen, the mare in question would arrive not a moment later with fresh picked flowers in tow. “All is well,” the Witch King dipped his head, grinning kindly to show his lack of anger. “Sarina and I were just discussing that as well. This land is a trickster. I think it might wish us to find something. Something of value to it to prove ourselves. What say the two of you?” There was no doubt that, with the three of them working together, they would discover the land’s secrets. It was simply a matter of time.
