xxxxMoonlit's paws hit the ground in time with his companion's. He'd been mostly silent during their journey back into the mountains as he listened to Violet Stag speak of the Mother Beneath the Mountain. They had caught a few more hares on the way back and the had taken down a small buck that was being carried across their backs to ease the burden. Though he still preferred hunting alone, he felt at ease hunting with his newly found friend and found his presence more comforting than bothersome. xxxx"So, Mother Mountain provides for you, sometimes in strange ways?" he turned his head slightly to his companion, careful not to dislodge their trophy, "Sounds reasonable to me." He turned back ahead and quieted, smelling the scent of their territory approach them. He let out a howl to alert the alpha that he had returned. xxxxHe helped roll the buck to the ground and turned to Violet Stag, "Welcome to Dawnstar, Violet Stag. Our alpha is Two Tone, he should be here to meet us soon."

Violet hadn't carried out a conversation like that in such a long time. It felt great. Liberating. Rewarding. Every word was a memory being healed over and as he prattled on, a warmth radiated from the depth of his chest... The hunts were easy for this herding specialist. He assumed his rank effortlessly, abiding by the guidance Moonlit provided at every turn. He had missed having a place amongst others... working as a team... brotherhood, even. At the parts when sadness cut its deepest, Violet's throat would catch and threaten to close up altogether... It was at its worse when they felled the buck, reminiscent of old times... but Moonlit's company, and all that came with it, was a welcomed change to the harsh reality of solitude. "Yes, yes! I am so glad you can appreciate it!" He had replied with earnest, careful not to let his excitement get the better of him. Someone who understood. Truly, a sign from the Mother herself... Or at least, Moonlit seemed to tolerate the idea and that was enough to satisfy Violet's trust. The world beyond his old pack had been an open and receptive one, and for that he was incredibly grateful. When at last the pale wolf howled, Violet could barely hear it over the pounding of his own heart. The mountains were practically beneath their feet, their peaks looming overhead, and underneath it all... Mother. Moonlit then gestured for the kill to be dropped, and Violet obliged quickly, strolling several paces ahead soon after to take it all in for himself. The cool air rolled down his throat, swelled in his chest, and was retained for but a moment. His eyes closed. Dawnstar... And, Moonlit was not the Alpha? That threw him for a moment, but was hardly worth questioning. This portion of the peaks were unfamiliar, but the mountains were all one in the end... That breath he had been holding, savoring, finally escaped in a content whisper of ' Home,' before turning his head over his shoulder. "Please, call me Violet."

No sooner than Moon had said Two Tone would be there, did the large alpha step out to the path, strolling towards the two wolves. He wore a scarf around his neck, an item he had found not so long ago. It helped keep warm in the cooler months (and also distracted younger pups from biting on his tail. Those tiny teeth hurt!) The light brown male shifted his eyes from his adopted son, back towards the newcomer. A hum left his maw as he seemed to assess the darker male. "Moonlit Shadow, who have you brought home with you?" His eyes then fell on the kills along their backs. Ah, their pack would enjoy the nice meal! Two Tone was not an alpha that would let others pull all the work. Instead, he would help when needed, or at least offer too. Alleviating some of the weight of the kill amongst the two hunters was the least he could do. Surely the two were tired?

xxxxMoonlit pressed his nose into the alpha's fur, inhaling his scent. The scent of thick fur and old cloth mixed with the crisp mountain air, filling his lungs and heart with home. He happily accepted his father's offer of help and assisted in bringing the kill for the pack, "Well," he grunted as he adjusted the front on of the buck carefully so as not to stab himself, "Like I said, this is Violet. I found him when I was out hunting and he ended up helping me take this buck down. He was truly quite skilled and picked up signals swiftly." xxxxHe once again dropped the kill when they reached their destination, "He needs a place to stay, maybe a pack. He has a lot he could share with us, I think you should consider having him join us, Two Tone." Moonlit had never been one to truly care about ranks when it came to telling his adoptive father how he felt. Pack dynamics was not something that weighed heavily on the mind of the oft-gone hunter. He stepped back from the buck and eyed Two Tone and Violet. xxxx"" KasaiLoki daddy daddy this dog followed me home can i keep him

Two Tone was met with a low wag of Violet's tail as he strode over and settled in next to Moon. He was much smaller than either wolf, smaller than most wolves, and it had yet to hinder him. But it was nonetheless impressive to stand besides them, immediately taken with the alpha's willingness to help. That was promising. Generosity often boded well. It was rewarded. He was also very grateful to see a younger male at the head of the helm. Remaining fixed in place, his attention flicked between their embrace and the mountains at their backs, allowing the moment to pass without his intrusion. As the pair took over the kill, it left Violet Stag to move at Moon's side. Listening. And waiting, mostly for his chance at introductions. Then, to Moon's remark, he added. "Moonlit Shadow has spoken affectionately of your leadership. I have been looking forward to meeting with you." His gaze fixed itself upon the lumbering alpha, careful not to speak too much, too quickly, as to potentially overwhelm. But he was inclined to say just... a little more. "You can trust that I am no stranger to the mountains. There is no acclimatizing period necessary. This is my home. I know Her, the mountains, better than I know myself. The Mother called to me, brought me across Moon's path, and now to you. And I would be honored to join your ranks, if you will have me."

Shia bean Y'll Two Tone is so chill. lol Two Tone found himself humming as he listened to his 'son' speak. "Is that so," the dual gazed turned towards Violet, a small smile tugging at his maw. Two Tone was no intimidating creature to strangers. His body language was lax, especially sensing no danger from the new male. He trusted Moon to not walk hostile threats to their borders. "Has he, I would say don't listen to everything he says, it may not be necessarily true." He flashed a lopsided grin towards Moon, before looking back at Violet and the kill the duo brought. "Quite a kill for the two of you. The pack will eat well." Two Tone advised. "The borders of Dawnstar are opened to those who need a place to call home, and are willing to pull their weight." Perhaps the alpha was a little bit too lenient with that rule. Things would have to change soon for a certain growing pup amongst their midst. "If what Moon has said is true, it looks like you have already proved yourself." The alpha took a step to the side, welcoming Violet Stag into their land. "Has Moon let you know that Dawnstar is a pack that may be dissimilar to the normal traditions?" Now, Two Tone glanced at the white male. Had Moon advised the nomadic tendencies of the pack during their trip?

xxxx "To be honest, Two Tone, I left the talking to him. I wanted to learn of his history and his Mother Mountain," he paused, a yawn forcing itself from his maw, "I may have neglected to inform him of the nuances of the pack." He motioned for Violet to follow him further into the territory. xxxx"If it pleases the alpha, I can escort him to the dens while I explain?" a small smile spread across his face as the thought of sleep in the large den flitted into his mind. "I'm sure we could both use some rest after our hunt."

It was a strange moment for him. As another breeze of cool air funneled down from the Mountains beyond them, another wave of excitement found Violet and it might as well have filled his lungs with new life. He breathed as if for the very first time, filling up to the brim before allowing it all to pool out of his nostrils smoothly. Where most would have felt the chill he only felt fire. A warm brazier tucked deep within his chest, ignited once again by the mere sight of her. Of The Mother. And when Moon spoke of her, his ears flicked to meet with the sound but his attention never wavered from that silhouette on the horizon. Soaring high into the clouds, the mountain awaited him. Jagged, serene -- a beautiful depiction of life's many faceted ways of being. He had no words, only a look that was full of the gratitude within him. At last he shared it with the pair, a small smile of his own to match that of his new-found friend. Wherever they wanted to take him, he would go. So long as got to stay within her ever-loving embrace.
