and the Divinity of Jesus

“The early Church recognized Jesus’ divinity prior to the council of Nicaea (325 AD) or Emperor Constantine (306-337 AD).”

As is no surprise a great many skeptic and unbeliever has not shared agreement with this statement on Christ divinity. Often objections raised involve that Jesus’ divinity wasn’t established or recognized until Emperor Constantine, via the Council of Nicaea, proclaimed that Jesus was divine. But is this so? No and the Christian can make a two point defense in support of the statement. It must be said that for Christians this statement is not a controversial one. The divinity of Jesus was well established not only from the beginning of the Church but more importantly during Jesus’ life itself. We will take a look at these two points of defense and a little background on what happened at the Council of Nicaea to show that Jesus was recognized as being divine well before Constantine and the Council convened.
