ASTRONOMY ~ O
- ■ Since Jonah had practically grown up visiting his mother’s work at the observatory and listening to her speeches on space, Astronomy was really a no brainer. He coasted through all his years with no issue, though did make sure to review his materials every so often as anything less than an O from an astronomer’s son would probably leave him disowned. With the exam out of the way, Jonah was looking forward to dropping the class once and for all. Nothing against Astronomy, it just wasn't very stimulating.
CHARMS ~ O
- ■ Charms was always one of Jonah’s favorite courses. He often found himself neglecting other courses to read ahead in his charms book and practiced the spells whenever he could. The first couple years of the class being in first block had been a mild issue, as Jonah was rarely fully awake until the end of the class, but once it switched to later in the morning he really began to excel.
DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ EE
- ■ DADA was another one of those classes that Jonah was especially interested in, and he had nothing but the highest respect for Professor Cohen. Though he had fun in his classes he never played around too much, making sure that he had a full grasp on the materials before he left the classroom…. With the exception of completely failing his boggart, suffering to his loved ones, the first time around. It was thanks to this class that he was able to fend off a werewolf his third year, and as such he remains dedicated to his studies. He is now confident he can handle whatever the magical world has to throw at him. His boggart will never see the light of day as far as he is concerned, because he has resolved to protect those he cares about to his last breath. The only reason he got an EE instead of an O was due to lack of sleep the night before, which caused him to make some mistakes on the written portion.
HERBOLOGY ~ EE
- ■ Jonah didn't expect to like herbology as much as he did. Though not all of the plants were as animated as others, he recognized that herbology was a great first step towards working with other sorts of magical creatures and as a result did very well in his classes. He had been gunning for the O, but was okay with the EE knowing he would work harder for next time.
HISTORY OF MAGIC ~ A
- ■ History was one of those subjects Jonah often found himself neglecting in favor of more exciting courses, like Charms or DADA. It’s not that he dislikes the material, but he feels that it is more important to be concerned with the present than dwelling on the past. Regardless he still but forth the effort needed to complete his assignments and managed to stay awake through most of his classes. When it came to studying for O.W.L.s, Jonah had placed History of Magic at the bottom of his priorities. He had hoped to have remembered enough for at least an EE, but is content enough with the A. Better than his Potions grade, at least.
POTIONS ~ P
- ■ The day of Potions had been a right disaster for Jonah and a story his friends were bound to tease him over for the rest of his time at Hogwarts. Despite his namesake having been a potioneer, Jonah never had the natural knack for the class and struggled from Day 1. Being around Kam Hepburn who was above him in grades and constantly stressing him out, in addition to his Managing Editor August Li who was studying for O.W.L.s a whole year early, Jonah admits he may have gotten just a little psyched out and went overboard on his studying the weeks before the exam, keeping awake with copious amounts of coffee and five hour energies that he brought with him from home. After conversing with Aeryn, our boy had the worst idea of his life and mixed his coffee with both the energy supplement and a regular canned energy drink, resulting in a horrible concoction that left him feeling over-caffeinated and seriously nauseous. In the end he had rushed through the written exam that he’d been relying his grade on so he could abscond to the nearest restroom to purge the monstrosity from his system. By the afternoon he was feeling better, though still shaky, and managed to spill one of his beakers. Luckily he’d been done with the particular ingredient and managed to create a barely passable potion, but honestly, he’s amazed he didn’t do worse. He probably had Sonora’s tutelage to thank for that one.
TRANSFIGURATION ~ EE
- ■ Jonah will always remember the day he saw Professor Drage show off his animagus form to the class. Partly because it had been amazing, partly because he managed to embarrass himself within five seconds of that display. Though he wishes he could pull off that level of magic himself, he has always struggled in the class and just doesn't have the aptitude for it. The last few years Jonah had been lucky to scrape by with A's, and with this in mind, he begged Vinny and Sonora for assistance. In the end, Jonah was amazed to have passed the exam with barely a point to spare to continue on to the N.E.W.T. level.

CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES ~ O
- ■ The first day of Care of Magical Creatures was one of the best of Jonah’s life, having had a passion for creatures since he was little. He still carries around the copy of Fantastic Beasts given to him as a child, worn as it may be, and references it constantly. With dreams of becoming a magizoologist and more recently deciding to focus on studying the migration patterns of Hippogriffs, Jonah had no problem excelling in this particular subject. This class and Astronomy had been the least of his worries.
HEALING ~ EE
- ■ There is no doubt in Jonah’s mind that healing is one of the most important classes a wizard could possibly take. This was one of those classes that Jonah never goofed around in and clung to every word from the professor. Having grown up with a doctor for a father, Jonah had also picked up on bits of human anatomy and such which he was able to apply to his studies. He did everything that he needed to for the practical, though did manage to miss a few easier questions on the written exam that he had either glanced over or simply misread.
MYTHOLOGY ~ A
- ■ When Jonah signed up for Mythology, he'd been expecting stories behind the constellations. Fables of the Greeks, the Romans, the Norse. What he hadn't expected was what seemed like "History of Magic~Extended Edition" most days. Some of the coursework he found fascinating, like the lesson about Unicorn Blood or The Sorting Hat. Lessons involving the Hogwarts Founders or Harry Potter, however, not so much. A real hit or miss subject that left Jonah wondering why he continued to sign up for it after third year. When it came down to it, other classes became more of a priority leaving him with a solid A.
WANDLESS MAGIC ~ O
- ■ Another topic that managed to be literally life-saving, Jonah became especially passionate about the course after the summer incident at the end of his third year. After this he took a total immersion approach, usually only using his wand during demonstrations or new lessons for other classes. Outside of the classroom and during Dueling Club he would primarily stick to Wandless whenever he could, though of course there were still times he would have done better with the wand. The writing portion had been a breeze, and the practical even more so. Though most of his spells he still has to cast verbally, he’s becoming proficient enough with the basics that he can sometimes cast them unspoken. Currently he’s best at Accio and Flipendo.
