There's some interesting history about it. The most common misconceptions being that it helps farmers, or it has to do with the amount of daylight to do things, candle sales, electricity costs.
Mainly, there's really no benefits to it now. especially since when we lose an hour the amount of work accidents, and car accidents, goes up. Be easier to just adjust the clocks by 30 minutes, once. and then, never again.
