“Where are we going, No?” The dark pelted she-wolf groaned, walking slowly behind the female, her sister. They had been traveling for seemed like days, and she didn’t know how much more she could go. They decided to travel at night, for it was easier for the darker pelted duo, but some days where they couldn’t find a proper place to sleep, the duo found themselves traveling more.
“I don’t know yet,” the other stated with a sigh, looking towards her remaining family before gazing ahead. “We will know when we get there though.” It was cryptic. Secret didn’t like her response, but that was how Into the Unknown always said.
“Do you think we will ever find anything? I mean, all we do it travel. Do you ever feel you want to just…find a place to call home? Sometimes I feel we are cursed to forever wander.”
"We are not cursed," No started, glancing at her sister. "We have...just haven’t found the right fit yet." She offered. They had seen few packs, and more clan like establishments beginning to pop up. “Don’t worry,” No began, “Our luck will come. I just know it.”
The two wolves continued their trek until the terrain turned cold, rocky. Snow wasn’t on the ground, but if they had traveled this path days prior it likely would have been present.
Multi colored eyes watched from the shadows of a boulder. Opposite in color, yet similar in build, it was obvious these two were related. “Who are they?” The female spoke in a whisper, watching the sister pair.
The darker male shrugged. “They look lost. Maybe we should greet them? Dad would do that.” With the alpha of the pack still at their winter base, plagued by a sickness, the siblings had stepped up to watch out.
The lighter female nodded. “Dad would like that,” she said before stepping out.
"You all lost?" Melodic called out. She knew of rogues, or wanderers. She had never actually experienced it before.
Both sisters paused, their dual stare quickly turning at the approach of the other female. Secret’s fur bristled slightly at the male’s approach.
“Calm down,” No started, before smiling warmly towards the newcomers. “Not lost. One can’t be lost if we have no end place in mind, right?”
Melodi smirk, giving a small side eye to the unknown female’s bristle at the look towards her brother. The action caused Sunset to stand back, but he too held an similar look of amusement. “Don’t worry,” Melodi said to the agitated female. “We mean no harm. You are near our pack territory you see," she motioned behind her. “Normally dad would meet you but while he is away, Sun and I thought we’d step up.
The words did little to calm Secret, but No nodded at Melodi. “We didn’t know we were encroaching another’s territory.” She said apologetically.
Melodi stopped her. “Don’t worry. We aren’t a hostile group. We welcome all, even if you do not wish to stay permanently, we can offer a temporary home until you are rested? You both look tired.”
“Is it that obvious?” No grinned, trying to use humor to calm her sister’s nerve. She seemed to be settling a bit more, but she watched the uneasy glances she would toss the male.
“I’m Melodic Shade, but most call me Melodi. And this bonehead, is my brother Sunset.”
“This is Secret,” No started with her sister. “And I am called No,” She rarely gave her full name, it wasn’t needed in pleasantries if others called her No anways.
“Intriguing names,” Melodi grinned. “Sun, why don’t you scout ahead, let the pack know we have two more joining tonight? You would, like to rest?”
“We shouldn’t…” Secret started.
“We should.” No affirmed. Secret knew there was no arguing with her sister from there.
Sunset nodded at the duo, before turning around and heading down the path.
The lighter she-wolf waited until her brother was out of sight, before she glanced at the sisters. “Well, Secret and No. Welcome to Dawnstar~” she hummed, tail flicking as she guided the two weary travelers into the packlands.
