- ■ Jack wasn't especially good at this class, but what he lacked in ability to keep track of information or properly render star charts, he made up for in enthusiasm. He likes history, and in particular he likes mythology, and astronomy was somewhat related to the study of mythology, what with the constellations all being named for myths and such. His memory for those details usually made up for the things he forgot about star positions.
xxxCHARMS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Jack barely even had to try in this course. He had his father's natural talent for magic, and wasn't nearly so terrible as Jer had been with a wand in hand (though he still did much better without one). It was harder getting him to pretend to focus/not be a distraction than it was for him to do poorly at a spell.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ EExxx
- ■ If you asked Jack, he's say that he's a lover, not a fighter. He does see the value of knowing how to defend one's self, having done so a handful of times in his young life. But he's a bit lazy at times, and this magic didn't come quite as naturally to him as other forms. He did study, sort of, because he'd used magic to save his family's literal lives once and figured it was an important skill. But unfortunately his focus could not be counted on, and his grade suffered just a little for it.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Axxx
- ■ Jack literally only passed this class and exam to avoid being murdered by his head of house, who he was 99% sure would actually do it. He put in just enough effort to not fail for fear of his life. He's still not entirely sure he's safe.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ EExxx
- ■ Jack is not, as a rule, very good at sitting still, or listening. But, he really likes history, so he made an exception for this course. Or, he tried to. He didn't always succeed. But he succeeded often enough that his scores were always above-average, which is honestly as much as anyone could've asked of him. He even did his homework, every assignment, because he actually enjoyed doing the reading for it.
xxxPOTIONS ~ Axxx
- ■ Jack's ability to perform well in this course was usually a factor of whether or not he bothered to show up. Night classes cut into his mischief and his sleep, after all, and he wasn't very good at Potions anyway so he skipped this one more often than Astronomy, at least until he got caught and got in a lot of trouble. Prior to this event, he would have laughed if you said Professor Whitethorne is scary. Never again. He tried to do well after that, but, well. There's only so much you can expect of his attention span.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ EExxx
- ■ While not quite the natural at this that his mother was, Jack is still a dab hand at transfiguration. His ease with spellwork combined with having a pretty active imagination and being a visual thinker all come together to make him pretty good at it. He's not perfect, of course, and he slacks off on occasion, but overall he's pretty good at this course, and did quite well on his exam.

- ■ While Jack isn't quite the artist his mother is, he still has a pretty solid foundation he's working from, and a pretty active imagination. If anything, his issue is a certain lack of discipline, and his impatience. He kind of just gets an idea and throws it together as fast as possible, regardless of how successful he is at actually getting the idea across. His art history knowledge is impeccable, though.

- ■ Jack took this because he was curious, and to be honest he wasn't very good at it. Fortunately, what he is good at is acting, so when it came to anything that his professor wasn't actively checking his work on, he did well enough. Come time for the exam, however, that didn't really help out except on the practical. He barely passed this exam.
xxxMYTHOLOGY ~ Oxxx
- ■ This is Jack's best, and favorite, class. Unlike his others, he's always attentive, always does the reading, always does the homework, and always participates in discussions. He loves stories, especially fantastical ones, and can go on and on about them for hours. He's still trying to convince the Drama club to put on a new, updated version of The Fountain of Fair Fortune. He's trying to convince Professor Harlowe to give him extra credit when he totally pulls this off.
xxxSTUDY OF ANCIENT RUNES ~ EExxx
- ■ Jack likes this class, and he's into the idea of being able to read things and interpret things in ancient languages, seeing as he has that whole love of stories thing going for him. He wasn't quite gifted, but unlike most of his other lessons he actually worked for this one. He earned that EE by literally one question, and is quite pleased with himself.
xxxWANDLESS MAGIC PRACTICE CLASS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Jack inherited his father's wandless ability. He's not actively a hazard with one in hand, but he's still much better without. He could probably do wandless magic in his sleep.
