[PRP] Out on patrol

Juda watched silently as the sunset beyond the mountains. The warm sky started to shift to darkness, which meant it was time for his first patrol around the pride. He got up from his resting spot and headed into the woods that surrounded the pride. The area was nice and quiet, making Juda feel like his patrol was going to be on the uneventful side.

Since starting his patrols, he hadn't had the opportunity to protect the pride from a vicious outsider. The most that had happened so far was dragging outsiders back to the pride to be slaves and they barely put up a struggle.

He let out a sigh. Being in a pride during a peaceful time was not exactly what he signed up for. He expected to be fighting, drinking the blood from his fallen foes, but he had yet to have a real fight since joining the pride. There had to be something he could do to make his patrol a little more interesting, at least until a real challenge showed up.

Looking around, he saw a tree that looked like it would be easily climbable. Usually during his patrols he stayed on the ground, but it might be worth it to get a better vantage point. It didn't take him long to get up the tree. He moved gracefully until he felt he had a good spot.

Now let's see if anything interesting comes this way, he thought as he watched below.

If Lamprocapnos could have read Juda's mind she would have told him he was about to get his wish because she was very interesting, thank you very much. As it was Lamp had no idea that one of her fellow pride mates was up a tree not far from where she was walking, taking her time to get to know her new surroundings. She'd been here a few moons already but was still settling in, getting to know the borders and the lions within it.

A light breeze caught her attention, the scent of a male lion tingling in her nose, and she glanced around to try to locate the source. When no lions appeared she narrowed her eyes and glanced out in the direction of the rogue lands. Was someone trying to sneak up on her? They were doing a terrible job if so, considering they were upwind.

Deciding to get the jump on them before they got it on her, Lamp began to walk forward slowly, following the smell. It wasn't until she paused under a tree and looked up that she realized where the male had been this whole time. An amused smirk curled her mouth and she tilted her head to the side, her tail flicking back and forth behind her.

"Well, well, well...what chased you up there?" she asked, her tone teasing.

Juda heard someone nearby. He silently waited for them to appear. When he saw Lamprocapnos he wasn't disappointed. A crimson lioness whose fur matched the blood they craved. He had seen her around the pride, but he hadn't had the chance to talk with her one on one. The night's patrol had remained quiet. A lovely lioness was just what he needed to pass the time.

At her comment, he snickered.

“I'm not one who gets chased away easily.” He replied as he shifted to get a better look at Lamprocapnos. “I was just admiring the view from up here, seeing if anything caught my attention. Lucky for me, it seems like I have caught your attention.”

As comfy as his spot in the tree was, he preferred to make conversation next to who he was speaking to. He jumped down from branch to branch just as gracefully has he had climbed up the tree. When he landed he stood not too far from Lamprocapnos.

“So what brings you here? On the hunt for a meal hm?” He asked curiously.

Gazing up into the tree at the dark male was a bit difficult thanks to his striped pattern and the setting sun. If it weren't for his brilliant golden eyes she might have missed him all together. Thankfully it seemed he was ready to make his way down to the ground once more and Lamp stepped back slightly to allow him to do so.

His comment made her smirk and toss her head just a bit, pushing her red fur from her eyes in the process. She had seen the dark male around before and if she recalled correctly he was a Knight, a protector and fighter. If that didn't get the blood pumping she didn't know what would. Although she herself wasn't the most skilled in combat she could definitely hold her own while hunting and in a scrap with an equally less-trained lion or lioness. Her tenacity was enough to scare others off at times.

"Just familiarizing myself with the lay of the land. Still getting used to the pride." Lamp had been on her own since she was old enough to hunt for herself and had never been in a pride, so this lifestyle was definitely a switch.

"It's nice to know I can walk around and not worry about someone ambushing me," she added, holding his gaze intently with her own. "That there's big, strong Knights around to protect us." To say Lamprocapnos was a flirt was an understatement and she certainly wasn't pulling any punches here.

Juda nodded. Pride life was new for him. Before he would just travel around, usually in every changing groups. When he found Igazi Laphakade, it felt like the right pride to join. It was still too soon to think of the pride as home, but it was the closest thing he had to one.

As he listened to her, he couldn't help but grin. Innocent flirting was something he could enjoy at quiet times like this. A delicious distraction from an other wise ordinary patrol. As much as he loved being a protector of the pride, the job was dull when there was no one to fight.

“I'm honored to be of service,” he said with a playful wink. “If you wish, I can escort you while you explore the land. Keep you safe and provide company. If we're lucky, maybe we will come face to face with an outsider so I can show just how strong I am of knight.”

Fighting to impress another would really make him feel alive. There was nothing to compare with having someone's blood splattered against your fur after a hard fought battle.

The offer made Lamp's little grin curl just a bit, a hint of something less pleasant hovering around her slightly exposed teeth. Had she not flirted first she might haven taken his words with offense - she could take care of herself thank you very much - and it was hard to completely ignore the subtle undertone of what he'd said. But he was a knight and she a vampire, so she knew in a battle he'd probably best her. It was hard to relax, even when in a pride, but perhaps this could be a learning experience for her.

"I'd like to see that," she finally agreed, letting the slight bristling of her fur settle. Having a strong male around wouldn't be a bad thing as she explored the border of the pride just in case they did run into a bit of trouble. That and she'd very much enjoy the company.

"What's your name?" she asked as she took a step closer, tone settling back into the warm, syrupy sweetness that she usually used to lure in unsuspecting lions out in the rogue lands. Now it was just habit - and she wanted to get this male in her clutches. Having her own knight at her beck and call could prove quite useful.

“I will make sure to put on a show for you if we do run into someone.” Juda said arrogantly. “Even if we just end up running into some food, I will make the chase a spectacle.” The last thing he wanted to do was disappoint his companion who had been so generous with her time.

Juda welcomed her closeness, watching her with a glint in his eyes. She was proving to be full of surprises. He wondered what laid in store for them, if she would continue keeping him entertained.

“Juda,” He introduced with a graceful bow, his eyes stayed on her. Even if he was seen as a brutish thug who only enjoyed fighting, he wanted it to be clear that he was still as regal as any royalty. “And what is yours?”

His attention left Lamprocapnos for a moment. He looked up at the sky and scrunched his nose. Dark clouds were visible between the branches of the branches above. If a storm started while they would have to travel home cold and wet.

“Perhaps before we go out on our little walk, we should secure a shelter. Just in case the weather takes a turn for the worst?” He suggested.

Oh, he was charming in a brutish way, wasn't he? Lamp watched as he bowed low before her, a smug look on her face as she drank in the fawning. Yes, that was more like it. There was little better in this world than a strong, fierce male who fawned over females. She could get quite used to that.

"Lamprocapnos," she answered, her voice sickly sweet with a hint of venom behind it. "But if that's too much for you, you may call me Lamp." Big, strong boys usually favored the shorter name and she didn't fault them for it, but Juda would definitely gain extra brownie points if he could remember how to say her proper name.

Following his gaze, she gave a little hum of agreement. Getting rained on would certainly ruin their fun, so finding a bit of shelter before hand wasn't amiss. Then they could spend other ways passing the time as they waited for the storm to pass should the heavens open up.

"A decent idea, Juda," Lamp purred, walking forward to bump her shoulder lightly against his, an indication to walk. He may be the bigger lion here, but she was in charge. "And even if it doesn't rain, I can see us finding a use for it later."
