“Dadddddy!” The high pitched squeal called out, eyeing around, looking for the multi colored male.
“Daddddd. Where are you? Dadddd?” The voice wrang.
Hiding (pretty terribly) in the bush, the calico looking male curled into a ball, trying to keep all portions of his body hidden from the she wolf. “I’m not as young as I use to be.” He grumbled, curling tighter as his daughter’s scent became stronger.
“I know you’re heeerreee.” She cooed, bouncing down the path. She spotted the tail tuft sticking out of the underbrush and smirked. “THERE YOU ARE!” She shouted, pouncing at the limb.
Clay, not being fast enough from the cramp spaced, felt pressure on his limb. He yelped as his full grown adult daughter continued her assault, attempting to pull his tail away from the pointed fangs. “Okay, okay. You got me Hawkeye. Let me up please.” By up, he meant out of the bush. “I can’t move much here…”
“Why are you hiding anyways?”
“North.” It was all the male wolf stated as he frowned, inching his way out from the bush.
“….Haha. The bunny has you wrapped around it’s little paw, doesn’t it?” The winged painted shewolf asked with a grin. “You knoooooow. Remember when Tailfeather and I were younger and you said you would let us have our own bond? Wellllll, now that I’m older, I want one.” The female said with a smirk.
“Er…Did I say that? Surely you must be thinking of someone else?”
The she wolf shook her head. “Nope. I remember you saying something when we were younger. Just after momma went back off! You said ‘Don’t worry guys, we will find you a bond.’ Or…something like that. I don’t remember exactly the words, but you said it!” Hawkeye grinned. “And well, I am taking you up on that!”
Clay hummed. Maybe he had mentioned it in passing, but never did he think any of his children would take it up for him.
“and you know…once you take me out to get one, then we can make it a family tradition and I can take your GRANDPUPs out to get one too. And they can do it with their children, and their children and…”
“…okay okay.” Clay did not like to be reminded that his children had already gone out and HAD children. Who was he kidding though. He became a father at a young age. He should have expected it from ONE of his children.
“So….you’ll take me?” Hawkeye asked with a grin.
The male groaned. “Yes. Fine. I’ll take you. But…you need to understand that it is a bond that must choose you, not the other way around. So sometimes you may not find something that clicks with you. Understand that one outing may not be enough.” The scout warned, causing his daughter to nod her head frantically with a yes.
“Okay! That’s fine! I mean, that means we can go out more and more, right? Until I find one? I want to have a bond just like you have with North! Um… well, maybe not like that…” Her father’s relationship was the hare was strange. The rabbit scolded him often. “But, you know! Like Two Tone has with his coon, or Melodi has with Disguise! Something like that!” Hawkeye grinned.
“It will come soon.” Clay advised, for once sounding wise in his age. Maybe being a parent truly made you grow up? Or…maybe it was becoming a grandparent.
“So when can we leave?”
“We will need to check on the pack, make sure they do not need anything, and then we can go. Maybe in about two days. Sound fair?”
“YES!” Hawkeye yipped. “I’ll be ready!!! Thank you Daddy! You’re the best dad ever!” The she wolf grinned, bouncing around her father, giving him a small nuzzle against his neck before bounding off. “I can’t WAIT to tell Tailfeather.” Clay had heard her shout in the distance.
