She did not know whether to consider it ironic or fate that her first duel would be up against the wolf who had inspired her to find her freedom. Sweet Terror was the spark that had started her fire, and her entire pack had burned for it. A nameless wolf, slave to a master who had her carry out his dirty work. It had been a pitiful, terrible life, a life that she would never forget no matter how far she tried to shove it into her past.
Nameless had entered the tournament to test and hone her skills, so that she would be slave to none. She had no intention of joining this pack - long ago she had proven incapable of keeping those she thought she cared about together.
Sweet Terror attacked first, and though Nameless was not known for her battle prowess, she had one thing that worked in her favor that few possessed - fearlessness. She already knew pain, was intimate with suffering, and now could act without hesitation. Sweet Terror's blow seemed to bounce off of her, but that was only because Nameless no longer allowed pain and fear to guide her.
She struck back while Sweet Terror was close, refusing her the ability to skirt back to a safe distance.

Sweet Terror remembered thinking to herself when it all was sorted, was this a joke? The thought was sour, more amused, and she wondered it a couple more times leading up to the start of this duel. Nameless was a part of her past and although she had seen glimpses of her in the present she hadn't thought of her in quite some time. To hear the name come out during a confirmation of sorts she felt her lips pull back into a grin.
The battle didn't allow for any form of oral communication - the pair of wolves didn't need it. Sweet Terror had spent years speaking with Nameless just through visual cues. Unfortunately that also could give Nameless the upper paw. Their history could be one of their undoing.
It seemed that at this particular time in their life it would be Sweets.
Sweets initial attack seemed to do little more than provoke the wolf. She had hoped for something more lasting, but Nameless had trained among her peers - just like she did and if things were to fail at the beginning for Sweet Terror, she'd be proud to say it was at the paws of Nameless. (Even if a little grumpy for it happening at all.) These thoughts were impacted by the blow Nameless delivered, one that knocked Sweets back quite a bit, nearly setting her on her rump. She held her own, combating some of the attack with an aggressive defense, but she tasted the tang of blood which was all to familiar.
Inbetween attacks she gave an impressed smile, a good shot look of approval.

Perhaps she should have said something to the only wolf she considered a friend, but she had worried that speaking to Sweets would only distract her. This was a duel, and she was here for herself. To fight, to win, to remind herself of why she was no longer bound to any other. Right now the red wolf, her fire, was just an opponent and an obstacle to overcome.
Nameless never wanted to know defeat again.
She gritted her teeth at Sweets' next blow, an attack that would have surely knocked another wolf unconscious. But, Nameless was aware of her movements, aware of her habits in battle. It allowed her to get by just barely as the wolf's claws raked across her chest. Dark fur scattered into the wind, and Nameless ducked down to aim a blow at Sweets' legs. If she got her off balance once, she could do it again. She excelled in close combat, and while she had an advantage against the other wolf, she would press it.
Injured or not, Nameless would never give up. It was one of the few qualities about the dark wolf that anyone could admire.
