Marchosia's children haven't been around to visit her in some time now, and she found herself out and about more often than usual, exploring around the territories outside of her den, making sure no skinwalkers or other opportunistic beasts were wandering or settling around too close to her home. Keeping on top of these things were critical to keeping she and her kin safe whenever they decided to visit, and maintain her claim to make sure others knew this area of land was spoken for. She didn't mind travelers so much, as long as they respected her space, but it was good to know who and where they were so she couldn't be taken by surprise. She wasn't worried about her children; she raised them to be strong, to know how to not just survive but to thrive. She knew she'd see them again soon enough, and her nest wouldn't feel quite so empty. (Even though it felt that way more and more often, these days. She tried not to dwell too much on it. She was always interested in more children, but finding a suitable stallion that would also leave her alone after wasn't that easy.)
She stretched out her legs in front of her, tails swishing in the air before standing back up and arching her back into another satisfying stretch. She was on the very edge of her territory now, and there was an inciting scent in the air that was difficult to ignore, luring her further away from home. She was strong, and large, and there was very little that she feared, so she prowled out into the open pasture to find out what was calling to her. It didn't take long for her to realize what it was.
Her ears perked up when she spotted the slight mare prancing about in the fields, intrigued by how carefree and joyful she seemed just to feel the breeze in her mane. Marchosia pranced out into the pasture, getting closer to the mare but trying to maintain a respectful distance. The last thing she wanted to do was spook her away; Marchosia knew she came off as rather intimidating most... well, nearly all the time, what with her stern expression, her deadly claws, her sharp threatening teeth. It was a struggle to soften her face, but she tried her best to look friendly as she approached, slowly, paws steady on the ground.
The mare was... cute. Pretty, even, with how her long hair swept back away to reveal her gentle face, her kind eyes. Marchosia was even more intrigued, and something inside her didn't want this mare to leave; wanted her to stay, to protect her. "Having fun?" she called out to ask, her fanged mouth quirked into a smile. Don't run away, she thought hopefully. Stay and talk to me for a while, I want to know you.

Marchosia jumped back just a little when the other mare came to an abrupt halt, worried for a moment that she's scared her -- but when she didn't notice fear in the mare's eyes, she relaxed a little. Oh, right, she should probably introduce herself too, shouldn't she? Especially if she wanted to get to know this mare. Should she bow back? Marchosia wasn't used to greeting others in that way, but maybe it would be respectful to mirror her actions. Then again, she didn't typically alter her own behavior to appease someone else. Marchosia decided a polite nod of her head was good enough, or else she was just going to get lost in her own head over-analyzing all of her movements and forget to talk. Like now. "My name is Marchosia," she said, trying not to let herself get distracted by the mare's cute wiggling tail. "You weren't being rude. My home is nearby, so I was just exploring outside of my territory. Making sure there isn't any danger nearby." She paused to look around the area again, but it was just as she thought; they were alone. When she blinked, the eyes on Marchosia's hide did the same, and then she smiled at Callie again. "Looks like we're safe here, though. Are you out here by yourself, or off to someplace in particular?"

Marchosia's eyes widened slightly, started and taken off guard by the compliment. No one had ever called her beautiful before. It just... wasn't something that she was. At least, she hadn't thought so. It never bothered her. She felt she had more important things to worry about; raising her children, keeping them safe, guarding her territory and surviving. Maintaining her strength. But beauty? It was never even really on her mind. Callie had asked her a question, and it took her a moment to collect herself enough to respond. "I... uh..." she paused, clearing her throat, and then tried again. "W-well, there's this nice river I like to relax by. The way the water runs over the rocks makes this pleasant, soothing sound that sets your mind at ease." Marchosia tilted her head, regarding Callie. "I could escort you there, if you like." She was tempted to invite Callie into her home too, but she stopped herself. It was too soon. She hardly knew the mare... but she hoped that would change soon. Wanted it to, even. "It's not far from here. What do you think?"
