Despite socialization and making friends, Simon rarely speaks aloud to anyone. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to learn so much as his name, thanks to his silence. Being in large crowds makes him panic, causing impulsive magic and general fear.

xxxxx⇾Sᴛᴜᴅɪᴏᴜs:
Simon loves to learn, though usually it's in the form of reading. With people he's comfortable around, he'll ask all kinds of questions... and hopefully they can return the signs. He gets excited by new information, leading him to share it with people when he can.

Simon has absolutely terrible social anxiety, and it is because of that that he rarely talks to people. When he does, he's incredibly awkward and quiet. He is quick to panic in social situations, and occasionally has full meltdowns.

Simon likes to keep his spaces clean. He may drop things, but he is known to pick up his messes and put his things where they belong. If he's ever in a messy room, expect him to begin cleaning it to the best of his ability. He cannot stand messes.

Simon follows an incredibly logical thought process when he's able to do so. He always has a method to his plans and is set on following those plans. He likes making schedules so he knows exactly what's going on. Any new situations have the potential for disaster, and therefore, stress him out.

Simon is an incredibly quiet child. He seldom speaks, and he's learned to move silently. He never wants to interrupt, so even if he's bleeding profusely, you can bet he'll stay silent until someone notices. He also communicates with non-verbal gestures rather frequently, including shrugs and uncomfortable glances.

Simon was born to Martha McKay, a young squib woman. She had a few dates with a nice pureblooded guy, but cut it off when his constant use of magic got overwhelming. A few weeks later, she discovered she was pregnant. Instead of raising the baby, she decided she'd set it up for adoption when it started showing magic. If it was a squib, she'd live with her mistakes and keep the baby. The plan wasn't well thought out, but it was her plan. When the baby was born, she realized the error of her choice. The kid was a metamorphmagus. It was too much for her, given that she’d been raised to hate herself due to her lack of magic.. However, Martha had a heart, and tried to raise the baby until he was at least five..

Another thing Martha never realized was how messy kids were, and her obsession with cleanliness meant that Simon got punished any time he made a mess or forgot to put away his things. He learned to cope with her, and as a toddler, would always try to help her keep the house clean, even when her mean boyfriend would come to visit. That man, Simon detested, as he liked to slap them both around. At the tender young age of two Simon had to learn to use his ability to hide bruises, even though he had no ability to change in any other form.

He unfortunately, thought differently of her, as she would punish him if he accidentally changed colors in public scenarios. Eventually, he would just wrap himself in hats and scarves with long clothes, regardless of the seasons. When he was three, she had a meltdown and she tried to get anyone at all to take him, before she eventually decided he'd be better off without her. She left him alone on the steps of Wool's Orphanage without so much as a proper goodbye, let alone a loving one.

While at Wool's, Simon made friends with an older boy named Reggie. The two regularly played cars or coloring, with Reggie doing all the talking. The older boy had even gotten a notebook to try and track Simon's accidental colors, though the younger knew most of them weren't quite right. Only a few weeks after they'd met, a family had come to adopt Reggie, leaving behind a very confused (and slightly hurt) Simon. His only friend gone, the toddler took to sleeping in Reggie's bed, since he'd slept there to allow the older boy to ward off any monsters in the night. Luckily for him, it didn't take too long before a family was talking to him, and even luckier that one of them seemed to be a very quiet soul. Plus, they could do the silent-talking thing, which made Simon comfortable enough to agree when they asked to adopt him.

As Simon fell into routine with his new family, he was able to become a bit more open, making a few friends here and there. He was also delighted to learn sign language, a skill most of his family knew. He was also able to learn skills from all the various relatives, which fueled his desire to learn more.
