The snow was awful. Marty was in a sour mood ever since the temperatures had changed and that day was no different than any were since the first snowfall of the season. While Anakumath soothed the worst ends of her nerves with love and sympathy, not everybody could spend the better part of the working day lounging out in the Fireheights with their preferred company for the day. It is hardly the snow's fault for that, though. the young queen reminded with no judgment. Marty had been blaming anything that stroked her irritation on the snow, after all.

No. It isn't. But the snow makes it worse. Really, Anakumath was the only thing that made staying at High Reaches tolerable. A lie, sure, as there were plenty other things that Martirae had found she liked there, but it was first and foremost for her dragon that she had settled in to look over charts and records to make sure everything was still up to date. It was always a sad day when death records had to be updated, just as it was a joyous one when new eggs were warming themselves on the sands.

If she'd not had so much work to do in the record's room, Martirae may have entertained the idea of soaking up some of the heat from those sands.

Was the snow proving to be something of a problem? Oh, absolutely. Amodine found herself missing the climate at Lemos as the temperatures crept ever lower, seemingly headed straight for the lowest possible mark. She'd bundled up as much as she could, doing her best to stave off the cold from seeping into her bones during the admittedly limited times she'd be spending outside today--her goal right now was to bring a few status reports to the records room, and to perhaps see what was going on in there, anyway. If she remembered right, Martirae was probably in there still; while there was no guarantee, Amodine was hoping the room wouldn't be empty. A little conversation might be nice right about now, anyway.

Would you like me to ask Anakumath? Alkaneth interjected, her tone far warmer than anything else outside. She'd stayed on her ledge for the time being, simply watching the snow fall rather than prance around in it how she desperately wanted to--today had been somewhat busy for Amodine, and she felt a touch guilty about frolicking when Hers was doing so many chores. I believe she's up in the Fireheights somewhere. It wouldn't be any trouble!
That--would probably be a good idea, yeah. And maybe ask if Hers needs any help, if she's still in there? She was still a few minutes out from the records room, but giving Martirae something of a heads-up would likely be a good idea, lest she interrupt her in the middle of her work. It'd be better than being out here for too long.
Oh! Of course. Good thinking.

Alkaneth spread her wings, shaking some of the snow off of herself with a pleased huff. She had no intentions of taking to the air just yet, but it never hurt to be prepared! Besides, watching the snow slide off in waves was a particular kind of satisfying, and Alkaneth found it delightful every time.
Anakumaaath! she called, her words backed by a rather sunny burst of emotion. Are you enjoying yourself up there? I do hope so. She well and truly did, too--even as cold as it was, the snow made it a rather lovely day, in her opinion, and it would be such a shame to be miserable in the midst of it. Mine was curious about whether or not Yours would like some assistance! If she's--still working on the records, that is. Perhaps I've asked those out of order.

Anakumath stirred as a familiar voice reached out to greet her, head turning off in the direction of her fellow gold - though nothing about the gesture did more than let her look 'towards' her. It would have taken much more movement to actually look at Alkaneth and such a thing felt more like a human habit.

Good day to you, Alkaneth, Anakumath's voice radiated warmth that was perhaps less of a burst and more akin to that gentle wave that danced over her hide at that moment. It is a very good day to get some sun and MartiraeMine insists I take it since she cannot. Not that dragons didn't occasionally sit up in the fireheights with their riders, but Marty had simply not had the availability to join her. So she enjoyed the heat secondhand. Let me check for you. Though she'd have to reword the inquiry a tad.

Marty was a proud creature, after all, and as it was she would have denied needing any help even over something as small as paperwork.

Alkanaeth's would like to join you in Records Room. Anakumath informed her gently. Marty, who was still frowning into yet more poor handwriting. It was legible, sure, but it had been rubbing her particularly irritably raw recently and she wasn't sure why. That's fine. she answered stiffly. With another nudge of affection and support, Anakumath returned her attention to her fellow gold.

That will be fine. She's a little on edge - likely half a candlemark away from frowning into a cup of klah if she can get her hands on one. In case yours needs the warning. Marty didn't exactly have a reputation for being gentle - and she'd gotten better for impressing.
