In the aftermath of the winter storm, Kawani's denizens greet the approaching spring with cautious hope. Though the frost lingers in the mountains' reaches, the thaw has arrived, and hints of the new season appear in the form of leaf buds on branches no longer bowed by snow. The following hush is broken by bird song, and the tell-tale sign of new life on the way. In some circles, now is the time to seek out alliances and renew bonds with friends and family separated by winter's grip; in others, individuals might be twitterpated, seeking out a potential mate, ever eager to show off and impress. Others still are simply eager to travel to greener pastures and savor the building warmth and the hope of an early spring. Some among the Soquili and familiars alike may be all too used to this dance, but others may find it very foreign indeed. As the world begins to wake from the winter thaw, more and more Soquili find themselves out and about. Perhaps the winter weather had kept them at bay, but now they are here in full force, crowding the Kawani with their presence. While the competition for resources may be made all the more fierce with these strangers in the mix, some Soquili may not find their company so very loathsome after all. Then again, the rites of spring are never without some degree of drama. How does your Soquili or familiar respond to the burgeoning Spring? Are they ready to get out there and spread their figurative (or sometimes literal) wings now that the weather is warmer? Are they out seeking new friends, new locations, or a mate? Or perhaps they are put off by all the incessant birdsong, chatty new neighbors, and twitter pated fools? Is love in the perfumed air? Or is your soq just trying to make it through the day unbothered and on a hunt for peace and quiet? The world is teaming with new life -- is your Soquili or familiar ready? The winter had been cold, the snow deep and difficult to navigate. That hadn't mattered much to Samael and his family, though. They had hunkered down in their grove together, warm and content. His mate Naamah and he had made a lovely little structure to share for the winter. It was amazing being all together again after so long apart. Samael felt a hole in his soul had been filled once more. He emerged from their shelter first, followed closely by his mate. He could tell she was nervous and excited. She practically vibrated! He nuzzled her softly. He was just as excited for this family meeting as she was, though you'd never know by looking at him. Stoic as ever, he started towards the area Agares and Berith would meet them.
Naamah was in a daze. She had never thought this possible. She had lived in despair for so long that once she met back up with Samael and Agares she thought it a miracle. She never dreamed that she would be blessed with more children and the chance to raise them all together as a family. It was beyond anything she ever imagined. She couldn't wait to tell Berith and Agares. She practically skipped along after her mate to a small clearing. The snow was melting, water dripping down from the treetops. The breeze was warm, whispering the promises of spring though it was still a bit chill in the air. The clearing had been swept out yesterday, making the meeting place ready for today's meeting. As they approached they saw Agares already waiting. Naamah smiled at her son.
He was early. He wondered what his parents wanted to talk to him and his sister about. He could take guesses. With spring in the air after a winter of being holed up together it really seemed obvious. When he saw how his mother was glowing as she approached he felt very certain he knew what was happening. He couldn't help returning her smile. "Good morning! I'm sure Berith will be here shortly. I think I heard her getting ready as I passed." He settled into a comfortable position. He was still tired and unused to getting up so early.

Berith had never been one for mornings, even when she was a filly she had been difficult to rouse from slumber, and though she was excited to hear what news her parents had for her, sleep had clung heavily to her. Her familiar, Azazel, had worked extra hard today to keep her from going back to sleep as her heavy eyes tried to close once more, more than once. She finally got up with a groan, eyes bleary and slowly blinking the sleep out of them and voice froggy from slumber. Berith had moved slowly, getting her mane and tail at least somewhat presentable, though it always had a bit of wildness to it, even after grooming.
A yawn hit her and caused her eyes to tear up as she made her way to the meeting point in her family's grove. She shook her head to try and dispel the drowsiness that clung to her. Once she got talking, she'd be more alert, but it was always a hard start to her mornings.
Berith beamed as her family came into view, and her gate shifted to something with a little more pep in it. "Good morning~!" Her voice was as sing-song as ever, though she knew they'd be able to hear that she'd woken up not too long ago. Her eyes practically sparkled with curiosity as she regarded her parents. The mare hardly knew what to expect from their meeting today.

The stallion looked over his daughter as she approached with a casual assessment of her condition. A force of habit from living rough all those years with Berith sick. His heart bloomed when he realized he never had to see Berith sick ever again. The Spirits truly smiled upon his family. And now they've smiled on them again. His eyes returned to his mate before aiming at their kids once more. "Morning," he replied flatly as Berith joined the group. "Thank you for meeting this morning. Your mother and I have some news."
Naamah never tired of seeing her daughter come into view. They had been apart so long. The mare missed everything in Berith's life and that fact plagues her mind often. However those guilts are slowly being replaced by hope because now, she has another chance. They all had a new opportunity to be a family. "We have the best news possible! And such wonderful timing! With the spring comes new life, and our family will be welcoming in new life as well! I'm with child! You'll have some siblings on the way!" She couldn't help the smile spreading across her face. She hoped Agares and Berith will be as excited as she was! She still didn't quite believe it was real. She felt like she was floating.
He watched his sister enter like the ray of sunshine she was. He didn't blame her for sleeping in. He didn't think he'd get up easily either, which is why he'd simply stayed up all night. Though he was beginning to think that was also a mistake. He couldn't wait to go to sleep. He almost missed what his mother was saying but he shook the sleep from his head and tuned in. And smiled. His suspicions were true. He couldn't help but smile at that. It had been a while since there were kids in the grove. "That's wonderful mother!" He stood up and nuzzled his mom affectionately. This was amazing news indeed! Tired as he was, he suddenly felt a bit more energetic as he started planning out how his new siblings might fit into their little family herd.

The mare's tail flicked behind her as she awaited the news her parents had for them, her head tilted to the side and curiosity plane on her face. When her father directed her attention to her mother, Berith's cool, gray eyes immediately flitted to her mother, focused in for the big reveal.
She could hardly believe the news! Her eyes widened in surprise and a giddy smile quickly spread across her, and Berith couldn't help but bounce from hoof to hoof in her excitement. "Oh, mother, father, that's amazing!" She was quickly mirroring her brother, nuzzling her mother affectionately. "Will we need to prepare anything for the arrival of our siblings? Is there anything I can do to help?"
Berith had never been around for the rearing of young ones, having missed that part of her brother's life while they had been separated, and she was terribly excited to be an older sister for once! Though she and Agares had been born at roughly the same time, there was no denying that he exuded the air and presence of an older brother when he was around her.

The typically stoic stallion couldn't help a smile that spread from ear to ear as he looked at his family, all nuzzling close and celebrating the gift of new life that they had been blessed with. The trees wept with joy, the drops of melting snow raining around them in celebration it seemed. The pitter-patter of the drops was almost melodic. Samael realized he couldn't recall a time in his life where he had ever felt this type of joy. He silently thanked the spirits for bringing them all together once more so they could share in this bounty of life. "There are many preparations to be made," he said finally. "We would be happy for you to be involved." He looked at Berith and then Agares as he spoke. From their talks Samael knew that Agares had experience raising his own children and grandchildren right in this very glade. How proud Samael was of him. "We want to raise them here, with all all together."
Naamah took in the affection from her children gladly, drinking up their love even as she felt overwhelmed by it. She felt intoxicated, elated, proud, and scared all at once. Tears streamed down her face even as she smiled. "We want them to live here with all of us! We're going to raise them together! I can't wait to tell all the others!" She was so excited she was practically vibrating. "There's so much to do to get ready! Of Berith you MUST decorate an area for them to use!"
Agares took a step back from his mother as his sister came crushing in with her own affections. He still wore a smile as he met his father's gaze and was surprised to find his eyes were misty. There was pride in his father's eyes at they looked at each other. Agares stood a little taller at the realization. This was a unique opportunity to bond with his long lost father and he was NOT going to waste it. "I can show you how we've been raising foals here so far. Maybe you can point out some improvements."
