Background: She was a sheriff of a roughshod town under a last-bastion biodome in a post-apocalyptic world. Then she woke up half-Zoroark on the slopes of Mt. Silver, 49 years in the past. Now, she and her Marowak are wondering how they got here—and giving Snagem some unexpected law enforcement experience.

Monique was initially unaware of the events that started with the explosion in Flower City but has full memories from before then. An encounter with an Ultra Beast, Stakataka, unjammed portions of this memory set. She's fascinated by so many of the things that by her time were gone but also often unfamiliar with a lot of the Pokémon. She's also uncertain of how to use much of her Pokémon power, though it can come out at times in battle and she sometimes uses her Illusion to project her former human form.

Having traveled through an Ultra Wormhole, she is (unwittingly) a Faller and on one known occasion has attracted the attention of an Ultra Beast.

Her Pokémon have names that are Hawaiian words related to them. For instance, Kalama means "torch", a nod to Alolan Marowak's fire bone. Noio, a Murkrow, is the black noddy, a bird native to the islands.

A Timeline of Monique

2023 — Monique’s grandmother, rapper Krasha Wake, gives birth to Sonya, Monique’s mother, in Heahea City.

2040 — It becomes apparent that increasing pollution from Ein-developed innovations will make the world uninhabitable for all but Poison types. Species like Grimer, Trubbish, and Muk have become increasingly prevalent. Some areas of the world are already experiencing die-offs.

2041 — The Aether Foundation acquires Poni Island and begins intensive development on a large dome to serve as the world’s last bastion. Monique’s mother moves to Aether Island from Akala Island. Men from all over arrive as laborers and are conscripted, essentially enslaved, to provide the labor to build a full city around the lushest part of the island and the Dome.

2045 — Erection of the Dome and Flower City is mostly complete. The rest of the island is left as a wasteland, protected from the elements but not under Faba’s active rule. New Po Town is constituted as the center of Flower City's outcasts.

2046 — Monique is born to Sonya, months after her father dies while conscripted. They met in a one-night stand. As a result of the heavy use of essentially slave labor, New Po is overwhelmingly female.

Monique is raised in a creche with three mothers total (Sonya, Sachi, and Kehla) and two “sisters” (Kasumi and Kaimana).

2064 — Monique graduates from high school, or what passes for it, and begins working in the New Po Town police force. She also doubles as a dancer at a Flower City nightclub to bring in money for the force.

2067 — Monique becomes Sheriff Monique after the previous sheriff, Gardenia, retires after suffering a mortal injury.

2071 — Versions of the Snagems appear in U-369. A Guzzlord breaches the Dome, causing Smog to infiltrate and killing most of the inhabitants of Aether Island. Monique is transported to U-59 and hybridized in Ultra Space.
