The spring had been relatively dry. This was atypical of its usual patterns of foggy mornings and spring rain showers. The wind whispered the promise of rain yet few rain showers had fallen. Instead, the grey clouds held a promise that was not fulfilled. The flowers thirsted used to the abundance of spring showers. Yet, still, the roses tried to burst in abundance despite their challenging conditions. Perhaps the cold foggy nights brought some relief to the plants. Once again Melanthe was thankful that this patch of ground was in a coastal area. Despite the finicky spring weather patterns the plants were only slightly distressed. Melantha took her job as a gardener seriously. The Rose family a group of flower tenders and healers had taken her under their protection. They provided her with medicine that helped take an edge of the pain that always plagued her since her ordeal at the mercy of a skinwalker. Melanthe had tried to free herself from the cursed metal that the skinwalker had inflicted but she had been unable to free herself and no other soq was able to release her from her predicament. Still, she was thankful for meeting Teacup and adopted member of the Rose Family. He had used his unicorn abilities and medicine created by the Rose Family to manage her pain. Now she was able to live with her pain but not controlled by her pain. In return, she wanted to help support the family that had given her so much relief. Tending the family's gardens seemed a simple deed but the unusual spring weather was making the job difficult. Melthante worried that the poor flowers seemed to be distressed.
