She had fallen asleep once again. Just like the last one, Kilah had slept for far too long. Things had changed in the waking world during her absence. Someone she had once remembered as an underling had done something downright dastardly while she hadn't been looking. Something about her absence letting others ambition's run wild apparently and Kilah did hate younger upstarts making a mess of things.

The real question was... did Kyle even begin to understand what he had done? Did he understand how angry this might have made her upon waking? Or had he been given more power? Had he discovered something lost and dark that could have aided him in rocketing past her? Kilah had question a few vampires of lesser rank, including the offspring that she had had with the upstart in question to fill in the blanks.

Kyle Baine was now the Ante of Tremere. She barely hid her snarl even as she made her way to where the upstart was supposedly located. Claws along one hand slipping out for a second, but then it was gone. Her mind was already balancing the scales and wondering what missing piece of information was needed to tip them in his favor.

Still the blue haired one composed herself before entering the building he was located. But there was a hint of magic that was cast at the same time, letting an eerie whisper of her name echo through the building to anyone who wanted a bit of a warning. Kilah Morgansin is come. If that was not enough to bring her presence to Kyle's attention, then she would have to try another method.

Kyle knew she was there before she even sent her voice whispering through the air. He had seen her through the eyes of his raven, who now swooped in through the open window and settled onto his shoulder. The day that she would awaken was inevitable, and her ire, while hilarious to him, was not misplaced. He knew that should the roles have been reversed, he would have been just as pissed off.

But, well, the roles were not reversed. He was the one who had found himself ascending in rank to Antediluvian in a rapid amount of time. So instead, amusement was all he could feel, and a certain amount of pleasure in knowing that his promotion caused Kilah Morgansin's anger.

Even while he felt her presence enter the building, he moved, leaving the upstairs bedroom he had been in to stand on the landing above, and leaned on the railing with both arms, his hands clasped in front of him as he looked at Kilah over red lenses of his glasses.

"Well, look who it is! The prodigal Methuselah returns. Did you enjoy your nap?" He asked with a wide grin.

The arrogance of the male standing before and above her was not missed. Had this little interaction happened before her most recent nap, she would have been the one in the more powerful position. Kyle had been beneath her, though an interesting fellow, and one that she had actually decided to have offspring with. But to see him standing above her with such glee filled her with fury.

She felt like ripping his face off. With her claws or magic, it did not matter, but those smug little red lenses would be the first to be smashed. Prodigal Methuselah. As if they both didn't understand why he was throwing around her rank. It was all the protection he really had. "It might have been sweeter had others known their station." The growl that left her throat was matched with the twisting of her tail. Kilah's temper had been known. She was considered a rather cranky vampire in the past and this new development certainly wasn't helping.

But there had to be a reason he had been chosen above the others. She knew he was capable, otherwise she wouldn't have chosen him to sire her children. "Hardly. Much changed in a very short amount of time. Do tell me what led to this sudden development?" Despite everything, the blue haired vampire had not moved from where she was standing. Upset as she was, Kilah also understood that he now out ranked her. Was she older? Yes. But depending on what might have happened while she was asleep? Well, the scales might have tipped more evenly than Kilah would have cared for. Starting a fight before she understood all the details was a way to fall from her current standing if she was not careful.

The smugness never left Kyle's face either time she spoke, but when she started speaking the second time, his head cocked the side, just as the raven on his shoulder cocked its head too.

"--What led to this sudden development?" He said, his words not following hers, but said at almost precisely the same time, only his came just a tad bit faster, and it was clear that he was not just mimicking her but reading her thoughts to know what she would say before she even said it.

He chuckled then and swept a hand up to run fingers through his hair as he straightened.

"Tell me, Kilah. What do you know of the Disciple named Illyes?"

She hated the fact that he could read her thoughts. Now that he was a higher rank, she could do nothing about it. Kilah had to fight the urge to roll her eyes yet again, trying to keep her thoughts clear as possible as to not give away... but that was impossible. Kilah was always thinking. Always attempting to figure out what to do or say next, because that was the smart thing to do.

He brought up Illyes and that was a name she hadn't heard in a very long time. "Yes. He vanished and his clan held onto his memory as if it was the last drop of blood they would ever have." Instead of replacing him to strengthen themselves. Not exactly smart, was it? "What does another clan have to do with any of this, Baine?" He was likely telling her a story of some sort, the kind that would have a punchline thrown in to make her reel. Theatrics was understandable, but Kilah much preferred to be the one being dramatic.

Funny how rank weighed so heavily on her actions. She hadn't moved since she had stopped, staring up at him with those deep red eyes. One way or another, she'd find out the real reason behind his promotion. Perhaps one of their children knew, but she'd have to hunt them both down after this interaction to be sure.

The mimicry, or at least the saying what he knew she would say just microseconds before she said it, was meant to fluster her. He did not intend to read her thoughts, but she did not know that. He found it amusing. He figured that she would now likely be paranoid about the things that popped into her mind. Could he see them? Could he know? Sure, if he wanted to, he could. He had become quite a bit more powerful since last she'd seen him. But where was the fun in always knowing? Where was the excitement in it?

His smirk widened.

"He vanished because he found a way to take a discipline he knew well and mould it into something new. He travelled through time, Kilah. Hundreds of years, unintentionally, when Troile had tried to diablerize him. His knowledge and power are immense, but he required more to hone his abilities, and what do you think he promised me in return for such knowledge?

He paused then, clearly waiting to see if she could figure it out for herself.

Instead of trying to clear her mind, Kilah started to envision ways this entire situation could take a positive turn. At least, positive for her. How dramatically would his body bounce if he was thrown down the stairs or off that pretty landing? A mortal would have no hope of doing such a thing but Kilah? Kilah was old, which made her strong, and that meant she could think about how that strength could dash him through the building. It was a pleasant set of thoughts and one she'd keep up in the back of her mind for the rest of this conversation.

But she was silent as Kyle continued to explain. Telling her what sounded like a very silly story about traveling through time. Her nose wrinkled for a moment and the image of his body being tossed around paused to think through what the other vampire was talking about. Easy enough to see where Kyle had gotten his power and it had been outside of Tremere? Disgusting and yet... creative and resourceful. She felt at odds with those two sets of emotions.

It must have been something juicy as well, and Kilah knew she'd be far too curious to stay too mad at Kyle. He was annoying, but he was typically good for the clan as well. Unless that had changed while she slept as well. "Do finish your story. I'm not going to guess to give you such dramatic moments." Her own voice had dropped though, most of the anger from before gone, and she took a few more steps up the stairs. He outranked her for now. Kilah was still an asset to the clan as well. They both had their place. "I never bothered to learn much about that clan. The few members they had always seemed a little off." What power had that disciple brought back though?

Kyle's lips pulled up into a smug smile, then. It was clear that she either did not believe him or did not quite yet grasp the implications of it. An ancient vampire who had practically mastered time manipulation, enough so that he could actually time travel, and she did not seem even the tiniest bit impressed.

"He offered to shift me, and his library, out of time completely. Suspended, able to read and study, for days, months, years at a time, and then shifted back again, as if no time had passed at all. I believe I am, technically, even older than you now, Kilah."

He watched her with a steady gaze as she began to climb the stairs. He did not bother trying to read her thoughts. By now he was sure there was nothing there but hostility.

"And, I would gather, quite a bit more powerful." This last was said with a shrug of his shoulders. She could take it as a warning if she wished.

In case she was getting any ideas.

She hated that smug smile on his face. Kilah far preferred it when she was the one being smug. Of course, she was also groggy as hell from being freshly awakened, but then Kyle decided to inform her why he was being so damn smug. Her face stayed absolutely still as the gears turned in her head. Kyle had gone to study in a perfectly isolated situation and that was an interesting idea. Something that made things... more interesting than annoying.

Instantly the hostility was gone. Her crankiness at the situation had vanished with a logical explanation on why Kyle was the rank he happened to be. But more than that, she now had a tid bit to help with the next steps in what she personally was trying to accomplish within Tremere.

Each Tremere was involved in a secret society among the ranks. Kyle was not in the same society as she was, but Kilah could take a few guesses to which one he did belong to. She was trying to achieve an ultimate Tremere. Someone who would help them evolve to the next step as a vampire, and help the clan become more powerful than they currently were. Time travel and the ability to study endlessly to gain more power? It was an amazing idea all in of itself.

Her tail flicked as the thoughts took over her mind. The blue haired woman even smiled for a brief moment. "That is quite a bit of information." The warning had been received and her body language changed, turning slightly away from Kyle and softening. If there was one thing she was willing to put her anger away from, it was advancing Tremere. "I congratulate you on your audacity in asking a disciple for such a thing. What did he want from you in return?"
